Coven Lissandra and Camille - Who is the Third?

Most covens in modern media, and even some not so modern media, usually depict three witches, sometimes based on the Maiden/Mother/Crone trifecta, but mostly based on the Weird Sisters in MacBeth. Some are also based on the concepts of the Norns in Norse mythology, or the Fates in Greek mythology, both groups composed of three individuals.

Either way, three seems to be a happy number for mystical witches and hags.

But we only have two here. Camille and Lissandra. On a personal note, it's been driving me crazy that there are only two,~~ but it also may give me a little more hope that the next champion may be the popularly theorized Ighilya from Ahri's Garden of Forgetting Story - the old woman known as the Forgotten, the Eater of Secrets, and the Witch Gardener. The lack of a third coven skin gives me hope that the next champion will be her, and bring the third coven skin as her launch skin.~~

You are right even in Charmed there are three witches. I hope the new mage has a Coven skin that help bring the trinity together. Or give syndra a coven skin she fits perfectly.

My other theory is that the third will be Blackthorn Morgana, renamed to Coven. It kind of fits the motif, even with Lissandra's briar look.

Syndra has plenty. Zyra has like 3 skins total. Zyra deserves this skin. Zyra

Not a Zyra or a Syndra player but I agree on this one. I never see Zyra in my games anymore. She deserves a new skin at the very least for the lack of good succession that players have with her.

Yes Charmed!! I love that show :) But yeah with Lissanra even, she had 3 Sisters so theres definitely something to that number

Karthus in a witch costume, obviously.

He infiltrated the witch coven undercover under the codename Kathy because hanging around on the Shadow Isles with spooky bois all day everyday got boring. He then falls in love and we get the stereotypical movie scenario where he has to explain to his love interest that he is in fact, a floating dead guy and not a witch and he didnt want to lie to her but it was the only way to spend more time with her.

From the looks of it they focus on "female champions that are pulling the strings behind the scenes"

Both Lissandra and Camille fit this role. As for the third one my guess would be Leblanc. Im also guessing its gonna be a legendary skin, hence not bundled together with the 2

Elise can't get the Coven skin as Coven, Elderwood, Death Blossom and Eclipse are in the same timeline.

Not just that, but both lissandra and camille defy the traditional laws of aging, with liss's true ice and camille's augmentations.

I LOVE the Coven thematic and I hope it will be explored further in upcoming skins! The skins look awesome and the hag/witch thematic is wonderful! I really think about getting Lissandra's skin, although I haven't bought a skin in quite a while.

But yeah, a coven HAS to be composed of three witches - just read Terry Pratchetts Wyrd Sisters and you'll know why!

I absolutely adore this Coven skin line! I totally agree there should be a third.

It would be awesome if the new champ fit into this skin line. I could also see Diana Zyra Syndra Or Leblanc fitting well, but LB is getting a new skin so probably not.

Diana also got a skin not too too long ago (Dark Waters), so that really leaves Syndra or Zyra, or said mystery champion on the horizon.

Its depicted in media being 3 because of the Maiden/Mother/Crone (as you mentioned) and because 3 is a powerful number. 9 is also a common coven number because of the 3x3. That being said, hellllll yeah! These skins are awesome as hell and I hope they make a 3rd! Id be lying if I said I wouldnt mind a full Coven skin line to create a full coven, totaling 13 Coven skins.

I mean, I'm not opposed to a coven of 13, but that just seems like an excessive number of skins, and I don't think there are enough champions who's personality fit the Coven line. I would think the most logical approach would be to do smaller sets of 3, as that seems most feasible for a skin set release.

Well, I personally love the shit out of them too. I'm super invested in a lot of the recent "witch" shows and media like Salem and The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, so I'm kind of on a kick. I'm super happy Riot made these skins too, because they're gorgeous and capture the feelings perfectly.

There're many possibilities depending on what a vibe they're going for.

  1. Age and sinister; Liss, Camille and LB,Zyra come to mind.Don't know about Morgana tho. She fits the bill,but her Blackthorn and Bewitching skins already fill this role.
  2. Triple moon goddess ; crone , mother and maiden ( Camille , Lissandra and someone young. Zoe,Annie could be candidates,but the new colourful mage could be as well).

I'm really hyped for this skin line. Looks really good

Yes, the Roadmap back in like August said there was a "colorful, hidden champ" who's expected before the end of the year, and after Ezreal's VgU. That champion is due to show up any minute now.

New champs do not usually have pre-existing skin lines for their first skin. Typically, it's something unique.

Camille is in direct contradiction to what you just said. As is Kalista. Camille started with Program, which was already established with Lissandra and Soraka. Kalista started with Blood Moon. Hell, Rakan and Xayah started with Cosmic skins, established by Kassadin, and Illaoi started with Void, established by Fizz and Nocturne (though Nocturne's is super old).

This I actually disagree with. Coven is clearly aimed towards wizened, older women characters, possibly even a few younger ones provided they have loads of power. Kindred doesn't fit this bill at all.

So you're saying Kindred, the spirits of Death since time immemorial are not wizened, not old, and do not carry power in their name? Lore wise, these two could be the backbone of mortality itself in the LoL universe, why would you say they don't fit the bill (of ancient, maybe even horrid, power)?

Because Kindred is an ancient deity, not a woman who could qualify as a witch. Kindred is more akin to the old gods that the Coven is trying to bring into the world, not one of the Coven itself.
