Riot - Please Stop. People HATE having to get content through Youtube and Twitch

It's come to my attention that the green chroma for the new LeBlanc skin is going to be yet again crammed into this ridiculous "content creator program" again. Please stop it. WE HATE THIS KIND OF EXCLUSIVE CONTENT. It's horrible, and it's totally up to the whims of some random schlub streaming from his bedroom if people can get this content or not. I've generally supported the things you do, even locking Red Chromas in bundles, but this right here? This exclusive shit needs to stop immediately. It's not fun, it's a fucking chore to hope you can get a code from some youtuber, especially when it's digital content that has no business being exclusive to begin with.

WE HATE IT.

If anything, it's going to create resentment towards your streamers, because it will create an unruly mob of people who not only will start to feel bitterness towards the streamers when they don't get codes, but also cause people who already wearing thin of some of questionable things you've been doing lately start to openly resent you.

Like I get that you want to make stuff for streamers to give out. I truly do, it's a two way street. But you need to fucking provide them with things like codes for already purchasable content in the store for people to redeem. People want these things, so let them buy them. But don't piss people off by making them have to jump through hoops and waste their precious time (not playing the game, by the way) watching some Youtube guy to get a code. It's illogical and ridiculous.

Oh, and this trend of fucking LOCKING SPECIFIC COLORED CHROMAS IN EXCLUSIVITY HAS TO END. No more of this red chroma being only in the bundles shit. No more of this green chromas being locked into this stupid content program. It's stupid, and if you prefer those colors, well you're fucked, now aren't you?

Just stop. Please.

Players in this game have more passion for their champions than they do for LoL content creators.

I think Riot had already stated this before. But a lot of players really do identify with one champ or another and to actually exclude some of the content for that champion for the sake of an affiliate program would really piss them off. Making them really salty and to just hate affiliates in general.

What Riot tried to do with exclusive creator content: "Oh wow that guy has the super rare green chroma! That's so rare, dude that's so sick!"

What Riot actually did: "Fuck this stupid idiot who sits around watching streamers all day and basically flirts with them in chat, YouTube vids go up when I'm at work so I can't get codes that way either. Fuck this game."

honestly never thought anyone hated it, it rewards fans just for watching their vids and creates a kind of exclusive club which is what riot likes to make

I should be able to buy whatever I want directly without having to purchase bundles locked with a bunch of other crap I don't want.

I do not gamble, I do not buy things I do not want.

Instead of getting a little of my money by just selling me the one thing I want because they hope I'll be stupid enough to buy a lot more for the one thing, they get zero money.

I'll reiterate; I want to buy the things I want in game without having to meet some sort of separate criteria.

[cries in infernal amumu green chroma]

I think the biggest problem is they don't advertise it. Like I would have totally tried for the green inferno amumu chroma. I just happened to see some post about it even being a thing.

i think it helps the streamer community I dont see who it is hurting.

On the other hand, Rito James™ should continue to do it -- since I've gone from "WOW COOL SKIN I BUY NOW" to "Ehhh, I'll get it when it's going into the legacy vault" (650+ skins will do that to ya). I've dropped two $25 giftcards on LoL this month for the new Harrowing skins (coincidentally, also the emerald chromas). I'd buy Infernal Amumu plus the green chroma. But if I can't get the green chroma, I'm not going to buy the skin at all. And if Rito James™ continues with this new bullsh!t "marketing paradigm", then I just won't buy skins that aren't for limited availability upon initial release (e.g. holiday events).

Personally, I don't buy any bundles out of spite if I see exclusives. I shouldn't have to buy four items that I'll never use to get the one I want. I've passed on a few skins I would have bought normally.

Infernal Amumu for example - I played World of Warcraft for years and the green chroma resembles fel fire. Now the only version of that skin I'd even like is unobtainable and to see a skin enter the store that I can't buy is very disappointing as a player.

It's not like I'm not willing to pay for it separately.

i love it when they incorporate ads into their worlds. "statefarm analyst desk" "acer replay" "mastercard player" like wtf is that shit even, gonna analyze insurance, give a player a credit card? wtf? while showing their logos in the bottom left the entire time during the spectating, christ

like wtf does this shit even mean, cant you just say this match was sponsored by this, and show commercials after match is over or some shit?

if i ever became a pro, ima walk out there with my jacket looking like a fucking nascar. and during the interview im going to be like "well ya know, we won today cause of my top of the line logitech keyboard, get yours now the x1" "and dont forget the razer mouse, extra precision, extra comfort" and say shit like that all interview long

if youre gonna jam ur ad bullshit down my throat, ill do the same to you

Frankly I don't believe the streamers even give the skins to fans. I truly think unless they visually show it, the streamers give the skin codes to their friends.

TheSymbolÔfPeace10/31/2018, 3:35:10 PM3 votes

I think Riot should instead make exclusive skins for streamers, more so a skin called "Twitch Skin" or something, so that everyone can get the normal skins/chromas for the champions, but if they want fair-rarity they would have to leave that up to chance.****

Spooky Skeleton10/31/2018, 8:32:07 AM3 votes

They could just make neutral, non-champion specific content for this creator program (like poro's or icons, non champion emotes, ward skins) but i guess that makes too much sense

MillennialNative10/31/2018, 4:46:37 AM2 votes

Honestly I'm fine with trying a new thing to help out the little guys, but the problem I have with this is that you're making the SAME COLORS exclusive. If people love green (like me) they have to watch a stream all day and if people like red they have to buy all the other ones. If you're sticking with this content creator thing, SWITCH UP THE COLORS!

League community - Riot, Howabout you do something besides Summoner Spotlights to help support content creators? Riot - releases program to give streamers cool things to give away that in no way affect the game or how it is played League community - How dare you

Metallikaiser10/31/2018, 5:11:21 PM2 votes

Hmm. I liked it. I thought it was a neat way to tie the community together better, and something to make streamers feel and be more valued.

Honestly, that's just Riot focusing on its main demographic: preteens who enjoy watching streamers and have the time and will to spend (waste) so much time watching a streamer.

Wizard Blaze11/1/2018, 3:01:08 AM1 votes

im surprised with all those votes Riot has not replied. Which means they dont give a fuck sadly.

It is true. Riot has lost passion for this game.

Naskall10/31/2018, 6:14:35 AM1 votes

Didn’t riot say that these exclusive chromas would later be available for purchase?

Yordle Xayah10/31/2018, 1:55:40 PM1 votes

I don't hate it.

The day League of Legends became a Fortnite-style content creation fest on YouTube is the day it truly began to die.
