Diver class update (Nocturne rework concept)

So i want to talk about Nocturne. He was mentioned as a champion that may need an update in the diver class update however, as everyone knows that project was dropped. So i want to make this post as a concept/idea for a possible nocturne update in the future.

First, i want to state what i believe nocturne is. He is a nightmare, something that you are supposed to be afraid of (theoretically). However in his role he doesnt accomplish what he was meant to be. Originally he was an assassin upon release, however he was very strong and was nerfed hard. So he became a fighter/diver because he would die too quickly. And for the longest time barely anyone played him since vi or pantheon and many others just did his job better (and still do). Today he is an assassin and a fighter who is a little more flexible in his build because of rune and masteries as well as item changes since his release. However he still does not suit the diver class very well.

Let me explain, from what i can tell there are two types of divers, fighters and assassins. Fighters tend to be tankier whilst still dealing a considerable amount of damage and having an ability or two, to get themselves to the back line. Assassin divers tend to be much squishier, have high dmg/burst. Nocturne, doesnt fall in either category. He can build as a fighter and tankier, but will deal very little damage or will build dmg and burst but immidiately die. The difference between an assassin diver and nocturne is the fact that assassin divers have escapes, (ie: zed and leblanc). As a matter of fact all divers have some form of possible escape.

Pantheon can ult out or jump over a wall if he can target a monster on the other side (he is the less likely to escape), Vi can q over walls and keep her ult to engage. Leblanc can escape with her w. Zed can escape back to his shadows. While nocturne can ult an enemy, q an enemy, e an enemy (only when chasing). But has no escape. Nocturne is simply, the only "true" diver. I dont personally think this is bad, but i do however believe that his kit does not support this gameplay.

So let me move on to the concept for his ability updates that i thought of. Now, in no way am i saying this is the only way or the best way to change him. Im simply saying this is what i thought of, and if you have any ideas/comment (positive or negative) go ahead and say it, im looking at you specifically rioters who read this.

PASSIVE: Remove: Umbra blades: enhanced autos and healing. New: Shadow Stalking: within 800~ units of an enemy champion gain movement speed when moving towards them. When Shadow stalking is in effect, all movement speed debuffs are reduced by 50%.

This is what i thought of for his passive, it seems to make sense since now every champ has good cc and nocturne doesnt and for those champs who dont have cc, they have very good mobility/escapes. And some champs have both, even ivern has both.

Q: Unchanged

His q is probably my favorite ability in his kit, for balancing issues with this new kit i made up, i wouldnt change it, however i did think up spme things, like removing the movement speed buff (because of new passive) however while on his q he could travel through terrain (similar to the new champ kayn, however nocturne would be limited to the trail left by his q. (Just a thought which would give him an escape.

W: Passive: unchanged Active: Duration: 1.5 to 1sec. His spellsheild is no longer consumed after blocking an ability but last the full duration, blocking all abilities during the 1 sec. Bonus if an ability is blocked: (old) doubles bonus attack speed. (New) lifesteal and healing is amplified (by idk how much)

I thought of this because, passively he gains attack speed, but as a diver he needs sustain (which his passive did not really give enough and is now also removed in this kit) maybe the lifesteal and healing amplifier could grow according to how many spells his sheild blocked. So in a 1v1 its not op, but in a 1v5 its not useless per say (u shouldnt go 1v5 but you get the idea, i hope)

E: New: Tether steals %current hp from the target. After the duration, the target is feared for 2 seconds. Auto attacks reduce the cooldown of his w (By, lets just say 0.5 sec).

Nocturne doesnt have cc, but if he has a better way of dealing with the enemy cc he doesnt need better cc. So the tether is the same length that it is now, which isnt very long. And instead of the tether simply dealing dmg, it steals it, which makes up for the sustain lost in his passive (works on monsters and minions). I wasnt sure if i should add the fact that autos reduce the cd of his w or not, but i was also thinking autos could reduce the cd of the e intead of w.

R: New: passive added, nocturnes gains vision of any enemy below 20% hp. Rest: unchanged

Now i dont believe his ult is bad, but it could be better, i did think pf somehow adding a stun in his kit, but i feel that he could just cc chain into his own fear and that would be op for an assassin/diver. However i do feel his ult is slightly lack luster. This is where i came up with an ability similar to warwicks scent. However, even if nocturne gains vision of them, he still needs to be in range to target them. The only thing capable of countering this vision is being above 20% hp or reducing nocturnes vision with a quinn q or another nocturne ult etc.

Other ideas i had were to give a passive to the ult where he deals bonus magic dmg on autos to any feared targets (even if someone else had feared them and not nocturne). I also thought, that alone his passive is a little weak in the jg, but if you consider going e second, you can steal life from camps. Or make his fear like a mini morg ult that fears anything in a certain area around him (much samller than morganas) this would also steal hp from all targets, obviously not as much as a single target ability though.

But basically, nocturne is a nightmare, you should be afraid, paranoid even. Because when i see a warwick scent mark on my head, i am paranoid, and thats how nocturne ult should feel, but it doesnt, since you could place down a control ward and he wont be able to ult you. Basically, nightmares chase you down (passive), nightmares arent real and dont have physical bodies so theoretically could pass through terrain (q), any non thought out actions will not effect a nightmare (w), nightmares are exhausting and will fear you, which makes him stronger (e), you have no where to run if you are asking to be killed (r).

And i dont belive that nocturne is super weak at the moment, but whenever he is picked, there is always a champion that can do it better (burst, diana, global pressure, warwick, ad assassin, kayn,) (similar to how people felt when aatrox was picked).

Oh yeah, another idea for his ult, would be an ult reset like darius, if noc Ults a target, he has, set amount of time to kill them to then recast the ultimate and do it over again in another set period of time. (Ie: ulty, has 5 secs to kill target , 10 secs to recast, 5 secs to kill target if he choses to target another. And so on. Or let it run through the 10 sec and it ends, or dont kill your target in set amount of time and it ends. (Good luck killing xayah in 5 sec if she has ult). And spellsheilds would react the same as darius ult does with them.
