Sightstone rework concept

Sightstone is a core item on every support. While it is tied into the gold starter items many people would like to fully build their starter item and then get a regular sightstone. However is usually sits in there inventory as a sightstone without getting upgraded to a ruby sightstone as its not worth the gold.

What if ruby sightstone was deleted and replaced with a new item called Prismatic Sightstone.

A new item is made named prismatic crystal made out of a ruby crystal a mana crystal and emerald crystal (health and mana regen new item)

Prismatic crystal: 200 health 200 mana 100% health regen 100% mana regen 10% cooldown reduction

Passive : gives 1 ability power, armor, and magic resist per level

Now for prismatic sightstone

Prismatic sightstone: 400 health 300 mana 150% health regen 150% mana regen 10% cooldown reduction

Passive: active: place ward (the usual)

Unique Passive: gain 2 ability power, armor, and magic resist per level. Gain am additional 2 ability power, armor, and magic resist for every 1% cooldown reduction over 40% (cap)

This would actually scale well into Late game and instead of selling the sightstone it would become very useful.

The problem is everyone is just rushing the GoldIncome+Sightstone version because 550 is so much cheaper and still gives 10% CDR and 4 wards.

The bigger problem then is, the GoldIncomeSightstones have no unique identity. If you ask me to tell you what they do, I would say they do wards and maybe a little health, ap, or regen. Like for real they do not stand out at all, they are just a ward to consolidate item slots.

And lets be fair. There is never a chance to change which version you get anyways. You start with blue so you get blue. You start with relic so you keep relic. It is a slap in the face to any hopes to itemize.

The gold items should build into various sightstones, but they should be unique. Right now it isn't unique and they are just forced into the color they start. Alternatively unique enchantments, but since boots lost those these wouldn't work. Ability to place 4 wards, ability to not be destroyed early, ability to not be blacked out, increased range, ability to see into surrounding bushes.

So many possibilities to give special upgrades to the sightstones. Blue Gold Item creates Frostqueen ghosts that reveal people, maybe blue should look into bushes (really strong). Or maybe it can be like FaceMountain with a "shield" so the ward can't be destroyed or blocked (again really strong). Yes those are too strong if you just read them, but they are interesting. The real issue is then Ruby needs even more to compete, but that isn't a bad thing.

We honestly just need Sighstone out of the game. There is no reason that I have seen defended well why we can't just use yellow trinket. It would need buffs, but please recall that when it released, many supports were choosing not to get sightstone because the team had enough vision without it.

Buffs trinks, remove sightstone. Then supports can all build the items we want, and no one item has to cater to an entire role. It's silly and unnecessary.

Get rid of all the support items, make sightsone a good income item, and give it several different upgrade options.

This would cause problems because this would be appealing to not only supports, but other roles as well, and games get incredibly when vision gets too plentiful.

People are also pretty unintelligent if they don't upgrade to Ruby. That 20% item cooldown reduction is amazingly killer, especially with support items like Face of the Mountain, Frost Queen's Claim, Redemption, and Locket of the Iron Solari. I cannot think of any scenario at all where giving these items' actives 20% more uptime would not be wanted.

The 10% CDR on items is quite good, makes ruby more team-oriented. More Redemption and Lockets.

I kinda think wards should be something you buy into out of game instead of in-game. Like, leave standard trinks where they are now but allow me to opt in through masteries to a stronger trinket that functions more like Sightstone.

Or allow me to place my Sightstone in my trinket slot, but lose the stats? Maybe make it work like old Eleisa's Miracle where you have to have the item for a certain amount of time/place a certain amount of wards to prevent it from being too strong early?

I don't really know, but that extra item slot reserved for sightstone at all items has felt bad. It's better than when you used to just fill your inventory with stacks of wards as support, but not by much.

Might need a tune down but I think you are onto something.
