Volibear Ability Kit Concept

Lightning bear. That is the theme I am going with, meaning more emphasis on the lightning, thunder, and bear elements for an ability kit and remove everything not supporting this.


#Lightning Claws (Passive):

Volibear's basic attacks unleash a chain lightning, dealing 5 - 20 (+1%health)(+15%AP) magic damage, charging up when moving around and not attacking, up to a maximum of 30 - 120 (+5%health)(+80%AP) magic damage at 100 charges. Every 20 charges causes the chain lightning to strike 1 additional enemy, up to 6 enemies at 100 charges.

#Rolling Thunder (Q): Cooldown: 10/9/8/7/6 seconds; Cost: 40 mana

Volibear starts running on all fours for 4 seconds, causing his next basic attack to flip his target over his head, granting him 15/17.5/20/22.5/25% bonus movement speed, doubles when moving towards visible nearby enemy champions.

#Mauling Storm (W): Cooldown: 18/17/16/15/14 seconds; Cost: 35/40/45/50/55 mana; Range: 125 units

Volibear mauls the target enemy in place over 1 second, suppressing it for 1 second and dealing 20(+30%AD) physical damage and applying Lightning Claws with each hit, hitting the target 2/3/4/5/6 times over the duration.

#Majestic Roar (E): Cooldown: 14/13/12/11/10 seconds; Cost: 60/65/70/75/80 mana; Range: 400 units

Volibear does a mighty roar, fearing nearby enemies for 1 second and dealing 50/75/100/125/150(+50%AP) magic damage. If the target was airborne or dashing, then this stops the effect and deals double damage and increases the terrify duration to 1.5 seconds.

Non-champions are feared for 3 seconds.

#Lightning Catcher (R): Cooldown: 110/90/70 seconds; Cost: 100 mana; Range: 900 / 600 units

1st Cast: Volibear summons a device at the target location for up to 10 seconds. Volibear's chain lightning effects will be absorbed into the device, damaging all enemies the lightning passes through instead of chaining off nearby enemies and causes the device to pulse out a lightning around it that deals 50/80/110(+40%AP) magic damage per chain lightning absorbed. After the Lightning Catcher absorbs at least 6 chain lightning effects, this can be cast again.

2nd Cast: Volibear detonates the Lightning Catcher to heal himself for 30/40/50% of his maximum health plus another 50% of this value over 5 seconds.


UPDATE NOTES:

Lightning Claws: Changed the chain lightning to bounce to targets based on every 20 charges that Volibear had, with maximum of 6 targets the chain lightning can damage at 100 charges from always hitting 6 targets

In other words, this is just bonus on hit magic damage if you spam it since it is chaining to only one target in this case, aka the target you are attacking. Still interacts with Lightning Catcher the same way regardless.

Mauling Storm: Range reduced to 125 from 250 units Cost lowered to 35/40/45/50/55 from 85 mana

The problem with this is that like most juggernauts volibear builds some damage items such as titanic hydra wits end and occasionally trinity force adding these ap ratios will just make him less defined as a champion with no clear build the reason it works for jax is since he sometimes builds items like gunblade and rageblade and he has a high base damage it would be a better idea to give him ad ratios to encourage players to build him like darius

That passive seems very dangerous. It'll give him very free wave clear and make it simple impossible to freeze a lane. Also, I know that you do have a thing with AP ratios, but adding extremely strong ones sorta forces him into building AP. Also, removing his healing passive along with any means of tankiness he has completely changes his playing style. This version of volibear would be an assassin I also dont really understand the utli. It's very cool gameplay wise, but thematically it makes 0 sense.
