This section of the forum is for creative works so please do not downvote others it is rude, disrespectful, and uncalled for so just do not do it. Concepts and Creations we do not want discourage creativity here and downvoting discourages people give their creative ideas which a lot are super cool, but if you discourage this process then people are less likely to share cool things because people do not like being shat on.

Riot should help out and disable downvoting for Concepts and Creations. Posts that do not belong here will just be reported and Riot will deal with them, but all posts that do belong here do not belong to be downvoted as most work here people put in a lot of care and time into what they created so others should be considerate here.

If you want to encourage cool art work and champion concepts for Concepts and Creations if you ever see art or champion concepts below +1 then upvote it, even if you did not see or read the post, to counter-act the assholes and trolls because I really want League of Legends to have a good community and we need to put in some kind of effort to do that because I am getting sick of the toxicity that has risen over the year. Back in season 1 League of Legends had the number one best gaming community to be in and we can get back to this if we tried and change the mindset of "League of Legends community is toxic". We can start by showing kindness to others and encourage creative works, even if it is not perfect or very good, we can give nice feedback that actually helps them improve in a good fashion and then suddenly we will a super awesome community that people want to be around and every benefits with having super good and cool creative work in this specific forum. BUT we have to work together in order to accomplish this because being a community is a team effort to help each other out.

There's a couple of approaches to this that all have their own issues. First, I personally think downvoting shouldn't be removed. Now before you call me a "downvoting troll", if you check my post history I make a strong effort to give full feedback on ideas I take interest in, even those I think don't work that great.

While downvoting does enable trolls to an extent, some ideas are just plain bad or inflammatory. In this situation, a downvote is needed because you should not support that idea. Now, this makes the issue of downvoting without feedback, so here's another scenario. Let's say rather than remove downvotes altogether, you had to make a comment on the thread before you downvoted it. It removes anonymity and potentially provides feedback. But here's other issue: What if the user can't take feedback? What if, despite multiple people telling them their idea doesn't seem good, the poster responds with harassment? It can result in arguments that wouldn't have happened if the user had just been allowed to downvote anonymously.

But let's say you do know who is downvoting your work. What can you do? You can't force someone to change that opinion. Whether they gave it because they genuinely don't agree or they gave it because they're trolling, that's their prerogative. There are just people like that in the world. That said, not every idea is great. Not every concept submitted by a person is good.

Anyway that's just me. I always think there should be a spot reserved for criticism, whether it be known or unknown. A character design teacher of 20 years summed it up perfectly once: "If you disallow criticism then your idea swims in mediocrity". If there are no 'bad' ideas, then you can't weed them out from the 'good' ones.

Now: everything said and done, I can unfortunately tell you this now that downvotes won't be removed. It is the nature of the forums that Riot have built, and even allow themselves to be downvoted. Just learn to move passed it.

If I'm gonna be terribly honest, I have tons of skin and champion ideas on my computer but I feel like there's no point in even posting them here. I've seen a lot of really good concepts but they have maybe 1 upvote and no comments at all, even several days after. It seems like the only way to get any feedback at all is to either create a meme-y joke champion or to repost something (preferably sexy) you found on deviantart. If you're really lucky you might get the elusive Red post, which guarantees you'll get hundreds of upvotes and comments. And yeah, I browsed by "most recent" and like everyone is at 0 or -1 with no comments. There's some quality posts there too! If you disagree with something in the post, say it! The creative boards is for feedback, not mindless downvoting.

Riot definetly needs to disable (or limit) the ability to downvote in this section of the forums. There are a lot of posts which get downvoted without getting read at all and some concepts get completly ignored and never receive a single comment, which is incredibly disheartening.

If it were up to me I would remove the down vote feature on all posts. It feels horrible to be down voted.

Yeah, it feels really great, when I waste half of my day making a champion concept that popped into my mind, gets me a bit "hyped" as of I'm eager to see if people like it, and then I basically get 0 comments for hours, but I'm already in -3 or something, without any explanation or criticism.

I honestly really love doing it, I get lot of ideas and it is fun creating a champion from my mind, but honestly I have no nerve for it lately, to spend 5-6 hours on making the concept and skills, then post it and not enough there is sometimes no reaction, but I get downvoted early for no reason, and that really just makes it feel like I wasted all those hours for nothing.

Honestly, I'm not here too often, but I barely ever see a champion concept being upvoted, the whole section is just full of skins mostly, which is not bad at all, but sometimes feel like people don't give a damn about champion concepts :x

Anyway, I just wanted to give my prolly worthless opinion.

See this thread for a perfect example of why the downvote feature exists, and should continue to exist.

Criticism was given to the OP in that thread, and his response was to repeatedly call those criticizing him stupid and autistic. When people put out horrid ideas like this one and respond so atrociously to being criticized on them, then there is no helping that person. Those threads are meant to be downvoted and moved on from. I'm still a little bit embarrassed that I tried to talk rationally with that OP for so long.

Caution: people who think downvote button is an opinion, people with numerous of alt they use to downvote other people, so that their post and comments could receive more attention, and people, who are extremely jealous, because they themselves can't crate anything good, are incoming.

I know how bad it sounds, but what if you don't like their art? I mean, all's fair in criticism as long as you give a reason. I mean, I'm going to sound like an asshole here, but should we not feel free to express our opinions as an audience just because someone somewhere might find it off-putting?

I just want a way to get art more noticed. Some things I've noticed currently are

-Digital art gets way more attention than traditional art -A lot of the troll stuff (3 second done ms paint drawings, weird skin ideas, etc) get a lot more attention than drawings that took the person so long to do and have so much effort put into them

As a traditional artist, it feels pretty crappy seeing all this beautiful digital art get lots of attention. I mean, they deserve it, it's really good..but like...nobody cares much for traditional art.

I just finished a big drawing I did for Aurelion Sol. Drew it, Sharpie'd it, colored the whole thing. I'm pretty proud of it (I usually don't color, I like to do all my stuff in pencil because I feel you can include more detail with a regular pencil than colored pencils, so this was a pretty big deal for me lol). My goal is to get it into Aurelion's community creations, because it would be my first time getting into one and it'd be for a champ I've waited so long for. I was so hyped about it I was like "yea I'm gonna do this". I posted it here and on my tumblr and.....nobody cares. It's a pretty shitty feeling when you work so hard on something and then nobody seems to care about it.

I just realized that I literally have no chance at getting in. My art isn't getting enough attention for Riot to include it, not with all these gorgeous digital pieces of art getting hundreds and hundreds of notes and likes and comments.

I don't know how it would be done and I don't think it can be done....my comment has no point. I'm literally just venting lol sorry.

I guess the summed up version of my long pointless comment was -"It kinds sucks when you work hard on something to see people not care enough to even give you a like"

There is someone harassing me by downvoting things that I post with multiple alternate accounts, probably because I made a post like this so they are raging out against me. This is a very strong example of to why downvoting should be removed and just have people give feedback, and if people just go around being dicks then we can trask them,report them and they will banned from the forums since they do not want to contribute to the community in a positive light.

Something I need to say is people for some reasons are thinking I am against (constructive) criticism, criticism without being constructive is not good, but this is about downvotes which is basically shitting on people without any feedback for the poster can improve and make his content better so its on equal terms as bullying which Riot hates but keeps downvoting for some reason. Downvotes MIGHT be different if it was not exploited, even then I still don't think it would be good for a forum because downvotes take away from the discussion aspect of a forum since over 98% of people that downvote do not leave a comment; at least in a debate is typically better than shitting on someone and walking away because you can at least make your case for something if 2 parties disagree.

I generally do have an issue with seeing a multiple, well-thought out concepts that have no comments and have multiple downvotes. Makes me kind of sad. It's even happened to me too. But can't let that get you down at the end of the day. There are decent folks willing to check out your concepts and comment on them fairly.
