Rose, Demacia's Assasin

The Dreamwalker··4 votes·602 views

I didn't notice until after I posted this. I spelled Rose's title wrong. :/ For the reference, I know that assassin has four Ss not three. xD

Rose is undergoing a few changes. Currently, she has an updated passive ability. Her Q is a dash, need to clarify. W has not been updated. E has not been updated. R is under reconstruction. Lore is getting tweaked.

Hi everyone! This idea of mine has been cooking up in my head for quite a while. Without any further a-do, allow me to present Rose, Demacia's Assassin

Basics:

Homeland: Demacia

Friends: Lux, Garen, Quinn

Rivals: N/A

Class: Assassin

Lane: TOP, MIDDLE, JUNGLE

Powers

Passive: Combat Perception

Rose is a skilled assassin with the ability notice weaknesses her opponents. Upon doing so, she takes full advantage of them. Rose uses her blades to deal out her mighty punishment. She strikes hard and fast and applies bleeding damage between 50-100 damage.

If Rose is hidden from enemy view, she gains the ability to disarm her target (disarm means they cannot attack auto attack for the duration, but they cast abilities. This debuff does exist in League.)

Cooldown: 25 seconds

Q: Thin the Herd

Range: 650

Mana: 55/70/85/100/115

Rose quickly dashes into the fray, slashing all surrounding enemies for 30/60/90/120/150 (+ 45% AD and 0% AP) physical damage and slowing them by 30/35/40/45/50% for 1.5 seconds.

Cool down: 9/8/7/6/5

W: Shadows in a Bottle

Range: 950

Mana: 80 (all levels)

Rose tosses a flask into the sky, before kicking it to a targeted location. There is a brief 1-second delay in this effect. The flash cloaks Rose in shadows. While cloaked, it provides Rose with her passive ability.

She remains hidden until she strikes an enemy unit or after 4 seconds.

Due to confusion, this ability turns her Invisible. I just like using the word cloaked. I apologize, I know that can be misleading.

Cool down: 12/11/10/9/8 seconds

Note: Control wards reveal Rose.

E: Dual Blade Strike

Range: 250

Mana: 40/65/90/115/140

Rose takes both of her blades and slashes diagonally down across her target's back (or chest) for 45/75/105/135/165 (+75% AD and 0% AP) physical damage.

R: Deathblow

Range: 650

Mana: 100

Rose extends both of her blades outwards and lunges towards her target. If she connects, she deals 200/250/300 (+60% AD and 0% AP) physical damage.

Cool down: 110/80/50 seconds

Lore

Law, Order, Duty... all of these describe the country of Demacia. It's powerful armies are well trained and each of them capable of upholding the values of Justice, Honor, and Duty. Yet, not all people uphold Demacia's values in the same way. Not all are meant to be forged by the Demancian flame of Duty. No, some are crafted from a darker, secret style. The way of the assassin.

With nothing more than two, rusted daggers to her name, Rose joined Demacia's military force at the age of seventeen. Little did she know that one simple choice would set her up to excel through the Demacian Military. She spent of her time training and challenging others to practice fights. She bested some of the finest warriors they had to provide, even Garen Crownguard. It was rather easily done. Rose noticed the way he held his blades, noted his stance, she drank in every last detail of the Crownguard until she knew that his defeat was inevitable. She had only drove her blade deep into his armor before vanishing, only to reappear and swipe his blade from his grasp. She could still remember the impressed grin that spread across his face.

Her abilities were proven to be masterful. Thus, she was thrust into some of the hardest battles of her life. She emerged each time victoriously, with little to no damage inflicted upon herself.

On her fifth year, she was promoted to be a teacher of the assassin art in Demacia for their more... "fragile" missions. She happily accepted and that is where she reminds to this day. She continues to serve the Crown, and is even graced with the privilege of facilitating Peace missions between Demacia and other countries.

People questioned the purity of the girl. Even a few of Rose's brothers and sisters in arms questioned her, some even feared her. It was no secret that Rose was force on the battlefield, but perhaps she was tad to forceful in her ways. But, Rose paid them no mind. She knew her heart, her destiny, and on one would divert her from her duty as Demacia's assassin. Even if many people disputed her title, that is what she was.

On the eve of her sixth year, she joined Lady Luxanna on several of her missions and even picked up a few things about apothecary from the studious girl. Luxanna taught her how to improve her proclaimed Flask of Shadows. A few days afterward, she appointed to the Demacian scout Quinn. At first, Rose resented the idea, but later found herself enjoying the time she spent with Quinn and Valor. She found that her Combat Perception quickly increased the more time she spent with her. Rose ran a few missions with Lux's brother, Garen a few times and learned the art of wielding heavier blades. Curious, Rose paid the finest blacksmith in Demacia to forge for her two, twin blades forged from the purest metals and gemstones.

Once the smith finished with blades, Rose looked upon with a heart filled with awe. She felt the weight of blades melt into her palm. She did a small, quick swipe at the ground and the blade shred the air like butter. Rose left that night with twin longswords with the intent to raise not only Demacia, but also herself to a new found glory. She is Demacia's assassin and these blades would help her prove it.

She's an assassin, so I'll review her like one.

Passive: worse kha' passive.

Q: Assassins shouldn't have this much AoE. They're meant to focus on one target.

W: I'm confused. How does this work? does it create an area that cloaks her? how long does it last?

E: Is it targeted? Not worded clearly.

R: Skillshot? Why would an assassin have such a long-range ability? Why does it deal less damage?

I just feel like there's a lot more she could do. She doesn't play to the assassin idea enough, with a subpar Kha passive and nothing really bursty about her. She has an invisibility thing but it plays like camo, so if anyone is close enough she won't get her passive.

Lore is okay, though. Good work there.

I know you sit on them, but I really suggest not putting out concepts at this rate. I did the same thing, but if you work on too many at the same time, things begin to slip through the cracks, and they lose their identity.

Can be fixed.

Q: Assassins shouldn't have this much AoE. They're meant to focus on one target.

Hmm, assassin not having AoE Katarina. :/

W: I'm confused. How does this work? does it create an area that cloaks her? how long does it last?

She kicks up flask that will create an area where she can become cloaked. It has a delay to allow to her position herself in order to gain the cloak.

E: Is it targeted? Not worded clearly.

Yes, it is targeted. Not sure where the confusion is, but I can clean it up.

R: Skillshot? Why would an assassin have such a long-range ability? Why does it deal less damage?

Zed has 950 range on his Q. LeBlanc is a long ranged assassin. Nidalee is labeled as an assassin. Her Q has 1500 range. Deal less damage? I work something out.

I just feel like there's a lot more she could do. She doesn't play to the assassin idea enough, with a subpar Kha passive and nothing really bursty about her. She has an invisibility thing but it plays like camo, so if anyone is close enough she won't get her passive.

Not to come across as rude, but before you come onto one of my ideas with critiques, you should spend a little time refreshing your mind with the class of assassin. I never just write stuff down. I do research. It is fine if that feel way. People will view her differently than me. I think she has some burst potential.

Lore is okay, though. Good work there.

Okay... but we're two different people. There are people who can mass produce their ideas without conflicting personalities, and then there are those who need to focus on one character at a time. For me, I spend like 90% of my life just creating characters and stories. I don't have that problem. I don't mean to sound mean or anything, I just wanted to justify myself.

I mean, that's Kat's passive and ult, and the passive requires the daggers. Assassin's can have AoE, but it's not meant ot be the main spam ability.

Does the W make a visible area?

I don't know, I guess I'm sorry for giving the critiques. It's been a bad few days, lot of bad stuff happening, shouldn't have given a critique.

I just feel like you lower your concept value by putting them out at this rate. That's why I slowed down even my "for fun" ones: it lowers your credibility when you put out a full-fledged concept. If you keep putting them out this fast, it doesn't look good.

Really nice but one question. She is assassin right? So where is her hood. Yeah I am a AC player. But still she looks great like champion like that (I mean by concept) becouse when you think of an assassin you think that he will be from Noxus. Good job bro.

Thank you! I appreciate it. Now, just one thing, what about Katarina?

Snuffed up snobs likes Demacia, don't believe that assassins are honorable. I don't know how you'll add something like this into lore.

(except the lore you already written. I don't feel like the Demacia army will accept that)

How do you keep up that rate of release though ? Well I hope you don't mind me dropping in with another review :P

Lore: First things first: Her title is really uninspired and could use some fancyness

I feel like Garens defeat should either be related to assassiny stuff (her being able to sneak past him or ambush him), since he trains for five years longer (joined with 12) and is considered one of the strongest warriors, so a defeat in a normal battle seems implausible.

Her brothers and sisters questioning her should be backed up with some reason (her sacrificing fellow soldiers for the mission or being a monstrosity on the battlefield).

The paragraph with Lux and Garen really lacks information apart from dropping a cameo. Why no interaction with Quinn, considering she is closest to being a demacian assassin? I think Demacia dislikes Assassins over soldiers, but I am not sure.

P: The armor pen debuff seems interesting as it gives her a clear window of power, but I feel like making it a buff for her would be better, since that way it would be less supportive for allies. The second effect shares purpose with Khas passive and Duskblade and doesn't seem that interesting.

Q: Such a big AOE seems weird for an assassin especially with CC, since unlike Kat it isn't her niche and doesn't require setup.

W: I like that it interacts nicely with her passive, but the long range (without a dash) the short duration and the short CD seem weird in comparison to Twilight Shroud (Akali W), since it gives her little surviveability and no mobility.

E: No comments...

R: From what I can gather it's a skillshot like Chum the Waters (Fizz R), that attaches to a target, but can't be cleansed, that deals damage over time, but otherwise has no effect. What happens if you don't hit anything? Does it also proc on minions? Why does she suddenly summon shadows like Zed? Feels really out of place on a demacian soldier. The CD scaling seems really weird...

Overall: The passive, W and R do fit the assassin feeling, but fall a bit short (W CD and duration / Passive and R being similiar to preexisting abilities and lack of interactions). E does add some burst, but feels bland and might need changes. Q seems out of place on her, due to the AOE CC and the contrast with P and E (close range). I feel like a big problem with her is the niche, since none of her abilities are particularly Demacian and her assassin qualities are shared by existing champions.

Some questions to ponder: What sets a Demacian assassin apart from a Noxian assassin? How could her twin blades tie into her gameplay (compare Akali passive)? How does her lore tie into her kit (unscathed from battle, twin swords, potions, no mentions of stealth)?

Okay, easy fix.

I feel like Garens defeat should either be related to assassiny stuff (her being able to sneak past him or ambush him), since he trains for five years longer (joined with 12) and is considered one of the strongest warriors, so a defeat in a normal battle seems implausible.

I can add that it was due to her rogue talents.

Her brothers and sisters questioning her should be backed up with some reason (her sacrificing fellow soldiers for the mission or being a monstrosity on the battlefield).

Easy fix. I know just spot.

The paragraph with Lux and Garen really lacks information apart from dropping a cameo.

I can some more details.

Why no interaction with Quinn, considering she is closest to being a demacian assassin?

Hmm, I do some potential there.

I think Demacia dislikes Assassins over soldiers, but I am not sure.

That what I believed.

P: The armor pen debuff seems interesting as it gives her a clear window of power, but I feel like making it a buff for her would be better, since that way it would be less supportive for allies. The second effect shares purpose with Khas passive and Duskblade and doesn't seem that interesting.

Kha's passive cannot critical. He deals magical damage and slows.

Q: Such a big AOE seems weird for an assassin especially with CC, since unlike Kat it isn't her niche and doesn't require setup.

I see people's confusion here now. People must be thinking the 650 applies to both her dashing range and her actual AoE. No, her dashing range is worth the 650. Her actual AoE is more among the lines of a Katarina.

W: I like that it interacts nicely with her passive, but the long range (without a dash) the short duration and the short CD seem weird in comparison to Twilight Shroud (Akali W), since it gives her little survivability and no mobility.

The Q is a dash. I can make needed adjustments.

E: No comments...

It is either really bad, or really good. I am going to positive with myself on this.

Hmm, yes I see. I am working on a fix.

Overall: The passive, W and R do fit the assassin feeling, but fall a bit short (W CD and duration / Passive and R being similiar to preexisting abilities and lack of interactions). I am pretty sure I said it has the same purpose as Kha/Duskblade: namely extra damage after being unseen. It doesn't really matter if the extra damage comes from lethality, magical damage or a crit if it plays almost identical.

I think you should add the AOE range then, also why does it have CC? Since Q only dashes 650 the 950 range still seem weird, unless you add a duration for how long the effect remains.

Intersting concept, really need to think about her numbers more. Champion stats are not static. You need to think about them in relation to items, other champs, and riots own "rules". her passive- 25% built in armor pen on an assassin is a huge deal. Armor pen is already letting AD champs consistently do more than true dmg(over penetration). this passive +item 3071 (which she would most certainly buy) is 55% ignore. add item 3147 item 3814 item 3142 to that and dear god help us all. The disarm portion is interesting though and could be cool.

Her Q - again this is a numbers thing. max rank with 40% CDR = 3 second CD. a 50% slow that last 1.5 seconds and is refreshed after another 1.5 seconds is very problematic, and will likely result in her being the second coming of tankEkko. not to metion how that will sinergize with her 25% armor pen passive and item 3071shudders*

Her W - sounds exactly like a combo of Ekko and Akali W's, but since it's "in-combat" stealth, it will have to be invisibility or it will go against riots new stealth rules. Also, it's skewing her kit a little to much toward countering AAs(which hardly anyone uses anymore now) IMO.

For stats, I looked at other characters within her class and formalized Rose.

Hmm, yes, I see your point. I could remove the 25% or nerf it.

Well, ADCs would have a hard time. As well as warriors and other champions that rely on basic attacks. Of course she would be weaker against mages. Well, she would be able to negate Lux's passive and hurt Teemo.

Thanks for these tips.

The art isn't mine. I just wanted a champion with the general look that I wanted for the champion. If Riot wants her to be brunette with grey eyes, by all means, go ahead. I just mainly look for something that has the gear and hairstyle I want.
