Mage and Tank Item Overhaul

Clarification:

  • Items grant the stats provided by their components; if it builds from Blasting Wand it grants Ability Power. If it builds from Amplifying Tome it probably grants less Ability Power than if it builds from Needlessly Large Rod. In most cases I have tried to avoid giving specific stats because whether I say 80 AP or 100 AP doesn't really change the goal of the item - and it's the concepts that I'm suggesting.
  • Items also only build from the recipe stats. If an item says it builds from X + Y, then X + Y is all it builds from. I have not explicitly stated that items have been removed from the recipe.

Removed items: item 3105 item 3010 item 3801 item 1011 item 1057

#Tank Item Overhaul

Goals

  • Remove Chain Vest, Giant's Belt and Negatron Cloak in their current form. "More" shouldn't be an option when making the decision of what to buy - there should be choices.
  • Regarding Magic Resistance specifically - make the items more appropriate for the damage paradigms of casters.
  • Add more advanced items with actives to compliment early-mid game decision making. Need an engage to help you through the laning phase? Need a shield?
  • Make some of the existing advanced items more flexible for combining with other items, e.g. Jaurim's Fist.

Armor reagents Image

item 1031 Chain Vest (Cloth Armor)

  • UNIQUE Passive - Adamant: Blocks the next basic attack that would deal more than 20% of your current health. This cannot happen again for 25 seconds.
  • Builds into: Dead Man's Plate, Guardian Angel and Thornmail.

item 3024 Glacial Shroud (Cloth Armor + Sapphire Crystal)

  • UNIQUE Active - Icy: Slows the movement speed of nearby enemy units by 25% for 2 seconds. 60 second cooldown.
  • Builds into: Frozen Heart and Iceborn Gauntlet
  • Notes:
  • Randuin's Omen has received a new passive.
  • Zeke's Harbinger is currently missing.

  • UNIQUE Passive - Barbs: Reflects half the damage from basic attacks that exceed 10% of your current health back to the attacker as magic damage.
  • Builds into: Thornmail

item 2053 Raptor Cloak (Cloth Armor + Rejuvenation Bead)

  • UNIQUE Passive - Point Runner: Grants up to 20% bonus movement speed that builds up and falls off over 2 seconds while near turrets and Rally Points.
  • Builds into: Banner of Command, Ohmwrecker, Orb of Winter, Sunfire Cape, Stark's Fervor and Zz'Rot Portal

item 3082 Warden's Mail (Cloth Armor + Cloth Armor)

  • UNIQUE Passive - Cold Steel: When hit by a basic attack, you slow the attacker's attack speed by 15% for 1 second.
  • Builds into: Frozen Heart and Randuin's Omen

Health reagents Image

item 3751 Bami's Cinder (Ruby Crystal)

  • UNIQUE Passive - Immolate: Deals between 7 and 14 magic damage per second to nearby enemies based on your current health, dealing more damage at full health. 50% bonus damage to minions and monsters.
  • Builds into: Abyssal Scepter, Cinderhulk and Sunfire Cape

item 2051 Guardian's Horn (Ruby Crystal + Rejuvenation Bead)

  • Health regeneration lowered to 50% from 125%.
  • UNIQUE Active - Battle Cry: Gain 30% movement speed for 3 seconds. 25 second cooldown. Nearby enemy spell casts reduced the cooldown by 1 second.
  • Builds into:Martyr's Gambit, Randuin's Omen, Righteous Glory, Stark's Fervor and Trickster's Glass.
  • Armor and Magic Resistance removed from active.

item 3052 Jaurim's Fist (Ruby Crystal)

  • Attack damage removed.
  • UNIQUE Passive - Conquest: Killing a unit permanently grants 5 health, stacking up to 200 health.
  • Builds into: Dead Man's Plate, Frozen Mallet, Overlord's Bloodmail, Rylai's Crystal Scepter, Sterak's Gage, Titanic Hydra and Warmog's Armor.

item 3067 Kindlegem (Ruby Crystal)

  • Builds into: Face of the Mountain, Locket of the Iron Solari, Martyr's Gambit, Ohmwrecker and Spirit Visage.

http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/leagueoflegends/images/2/26/Regrowth_Pendant_item.png/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/36?cb=20130319091322 Crawler's Heart (Rejuvenation Bead + Rejuvenation Bead)

  • Grants 100% base health regeneration.
  • UNIQUE Passive - Adaptive Regeneration: On champion takedown and levelling up, restores 150 health over 8 seconds.
  • Builds into: Overlord's Bloodmail and Warmog's Armor.

Guardian Horn upgrades Image

http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/leagueoflegends/images/7/70/Martyr%27s_Gambit_item.png/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/36?cb=20150707235518 Martyr's Gambit (Guardian's Horn + Kindlegem)

  • UNIQUE Active: Blinks to the target allied champion (550 range) and fuses with them for the next 3 seconds. While fused with an ally, you are unable to act and redirect 60% of the damage they take (after their mitigations) to yourself as true damage as well as granting them 30% movement speed for 3 seconds. You are unable to act while bound to an ally. 90 second cooldown.
  • Martyr's Gambit is now a fusion similar to Tahm Kench (rather than a tether), except that your target carries the Martyr around. The target will be surrounded by a Martyr-shaped bubble, similar to Orianna's Command Protect, and the Martyr's unit frame will be displayed adjacent to their target (again, similar to Devour).
  • Possible balance levers: Only a single instance of damage is blocked within the next 3 seconds, but perhaps increase the redirect to 100% for that one instance; or there is a cap on the amount of damage that can be redirected before forcing the Martyr to exit early.

item 3143 Randuin's Omen (Guardian's Horn + Warden's Mail)

  • UNIQUE Active: UNIQUE Passive - Cold Steel: When hit by a basic attack, you slow the attacker's attack speed by 15% for 1 second, doubled to 30% for 2 seconds if they critically strike.
  • UNIQUE Active - Battle Cry: Breaks free of any active slow and root effects and gains 30% movement speed for 3 seconds. 45 second cooldown. Attacks against you reduce the cooldown by 1 second.

item 3800 Righteous Glory (Guardian's Horn + Kindlegeml)

  • Now grants 10% Cooldown Reduction.
  • UNIQUE Active - Battle Cry: Grants 60% movement speed to you and nearby allies when moving toward enemies for 3 seconds. When the speed boost ends or upon reactivation, slows surrounding enemies by 80% for 1 second. 90 second cooldown. Nearby enemy spell casts reduced the cooldown by 1 second. champion.
  • I would be tempted to add Glacial Shroud to Righteous Glory's build path, but that would mean adding armor and reducing the health value. There's also a lot of health and armor items already.
  • An alternative would be to go the Sheen route and remove armor from Glacial Shroud. Sheen + Glacial Shroud into Iceborn would be entirely a mana item, which might actually make Ezreal less obnoxious, but I'm not sure if other Iceborn users would appreciate the change.

http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/leagueoflegends/images/9/92/Trickster%27s_Glass_item.png/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/36?cb=20150707235519 Trickster's Glass (Guardian's Horn + Needlessly Large Rod)

  • UNIQUE Active: Takes on their appearance of the target allied champion for 30 seconds. The disguise includes the target's current health, mana and emotes. The disguise is broken upon casting a spell or attacking, or upon your or the disguise's health being dropped to 0. 90 second cooldown.
  • To off-set the pseudo-blink on Martyr's Gambit, Trickster's Glass has lost its blink - but it would still have range on the active. Trickster's Glass has also been promoted to a high-utility AP item specifically designed for deceptive assassins.

http://vignette4.wikia.nocookie.net/leagueoflegends/images/5/54/Zeke%27s_Herald_item.png/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/36?cb=20130319091845 Stark's Fervor (Guardian's Horn + Raptor Cloak)

  • UNIQUE Passive - Point Runner: Grants up to 20% bonus movement speed that builds up and falls off over 2 seconds while near turrets and Rally Points.
  • UNIQUE Active - Rally: Places a Rally Point at the target location for 8 seconds that grants nearby allied champions 20 bonus damage (doubled versus structures) with as well as Point Runner. 120 second cooldown.

Magic Resistance reagents Image

http://vignette4.wikia.nocookie.net/leagueoflegends/images/4/43/Emblem_of_Valor_item.png/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/36?cb=20130319090321 Emblem of Valor (Null-Magic Mantle + Rejuvenation Bead)

  • UNIQUE Passive - Valor: Shields you from the next 30 (+10 per level) magic damage. The shield regenerates at a rate of 5 per second if you have not taken damage from an enemy champion in the last 9 seconds.
  • Builds into: Locket of the Iron Solari, Odyn's Veil, Orb of Winter (Howling Abyss), Wit's End and Zz'Rot Portal (Classic).

item 3155 Hexdrinker (Null-Magic Mantle + Long Sword)

This change is then carried across to its upgrades, including building toward new upgrades, each with a unique flavour for being successful.

item 3211 Spectre's Cowl (Null-Magic Mantle + Ruby Crystal)

  • UNIQUE Passive - Spectre's Regeneration: Grants 150% base health regeneration for 10 seconds after taking damage from an enemy champion.
  • Builds into: Banshee's Veil, Force of Nature, Odyn's Veil and Spirit Visage.

Emblem of Valor upgrades Image

item 3190 Locket of the Iron Solari (Emblem of Valor + Kindlegem)

  • UNIQUE Passive - Valor: Shields you from the next 30 + (15 × level) magic damage. The shield regenerates at a rate of 30 per second if you have not taken damage from an enemy champion in the last 15 seconds. While shielded, you gain VALOR'S AID.
  • UNIQUE PASSIVE - VALOR'S AID: Nearby allied champions generate a magic damage shield at a rate of 30 per second, up to 30 + (15 × level), if they have not taken damage from a champion in the last 1.5 seconds. Valor's Aid will not stack with Valor, if the ally possesses their own source of Valor.

  • UNIQUE Passive - Valor: Basic attacks generate a shield that mitigates the next 30 magic damage for 3.5 seconds, stacking up to 300. The shield will decay when out of combat for 25 seconds.
  • Magic resistance shred removed.

item 3512 Zz'Rot Portal (Emblem of Valor + Raptor Cloak)

  • UNIQUE Passive - Valor: Shields you from the next 30 (+10 per level) magic damage. The shield regenerates at a rate of 30 per second if you have not taken damage in the last 9 seconds.

  • UNIQUE Active - Quicksilver: Creates a spellshield that blocks the next enemy ability within 1.5 seconds. 45 second cooldown. Successfully blocking an ability restores 10% of your maximum health. 45 second cooldown.

  • Tenacity removed.
  • UNIQUE Active - Quicksilver: Creates a spellshield that blocks the next enemy ability within 1.5 seconds. Successfully blocking will grant 99% Tenacity that decays down to 35% over 3 seconds. 45 second cooldown.

Misc changes Image

item 3060 Banner of Command (Raptor Cloak + Fiendish Codex)

  • Health and MR removed.
  • Now grants Armor.
  • Now grants Passive - Point Runner.
  • UNIQUE Active - Promote: Greatly increases the power of a lane minion and grants it heavily increases resistance to physical damage. Additionally, the promoted minion is considered a Rally Point. 120 second cooldown.
  • The physical resistance could be in the form of a physical damage shield, perhaps blocking the next 5 instance of physical damage from a champion or structure. The shield would regenerate after a time.
  • Promote could convert the target minion into a specialized unit, such as the Ironback. Heck, the item's active could be reworked to convert the target minion into a Brawler (Caster -> Plundercrab; Siege -> Ironback; Melee -> Razorfin), each with a different empowerment.

#Mage Item Overhaul

Goals

  • Address the known goals of Riot's upcoming Immobile Mage Itemization pass - namely, CDR/Mana/Mana Regeneration items; and the lack of CDR items for Mages.
  • Add more advanced items. When trying to come up with some interesting effects I quickly realized how few reagent combinations there were for Mages.
  • Accompanying the above goal - more interesting passives, akin to Giant Slayer from the Marksman overhaul.

Ability Power Reagents Image

item 3113 Aether Wisp (Amplifying Tome)

  • UNIQUE Passive: 5% bonus Movement Speed
  • Builds into: Ardent Censer, Force of Nature, Hextech Gunblade, Lich Bane, Luden's Echo and Runic Echoes.
  • I currently have a mock up for an Aether Wisp rework that functions like item 2015, where you expend 100 charges to do bonus damage on an ability. This change is carried over into its upgrades.

item 3108 Fiendish Codex (Amplifying Tome)

  • UNIQUE Passive: 10% Cooldown Reduction
  • Builds into: Athene's Unholy Grail, Banner of Command, Frost Queen Claim, Lost Chapter, Nashor's Tooth, Nilbog's Sceptre, Pox Arcana and Will of the Ancients

item 3187 Gorgon's Eye (Amplifying Tome + Amplifying Tome)

  • UNIQUE Passive: Reducing an enemy champion below 40% of their max health applies Strife. Strife inflicts Grievous Wounds for 4 seconds, after which it deals 100 magic damage. 60 second per-target cooldown.
  • Builds into: Blackfire Torch

item 3145 Hextech Revolver (Amplifying Tome + Amplifying Tome)

  • UNIQUE Passive - Spell Vamp: You restore health equal to 100% of the ability damage you deal. Healing from Spell Vamp cannot exceed 12 (+1 per level) (+8% AP) over a 6 second period.
  • Builds into: Hextech Gunblade and Will of the Ancients

item 3136 Haunting Guise (Amplifying Tome + Ruby Crystal)

  • UNIQUE Passive - Torment: Ability damage applies a burn that deals 1.5% current health every half second for 1 / 2 / 4 seconds (DOT / AOE / Single Target + Multi Hit). Malice has no effect on targets below 40% of their maximum health.
  • Builds into: Liandry's Torment

http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/leagueoflegends/images/3/31/Lost_Chapter_item.png/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/36?cb=20150707235734 Lost Chapter (Fiendish Codex + Forbidden Idol)

  • UNIQUE Passive - Ordained: 20% Cooldown Reduction
  • Builds into: Morellonomicon, Netherstride Grimoire, Rite of Ruin and Vile Scripture

item 1082 Mejai's Dark Seal (Amplifying Tome)

  • UNIQUE Passive - Glory: Grants 5 ability power for a champion kill or 2 ability power for a champion assist, up to 40.
  • Builds into: Rabadon's Deathcap and Rod of Ages

item 3191 Seeker's Armguard (Amplifying Tome + Cloth Armor + Cloth Armor)

  • UNIQUE Passive - Conquest: Killing a unit grants 0.5 armor and 0.5 ability power, stacking up to 15 armor and 15 ability power.
  • Builds into: Moonflair Spellblade and Zhonya's Hourglass

item 3135 Void Staff (Blasting Wand)

  • UNIQUE Passive - Banish: Your magic damage ignores 30% of your target's bonus magic resistance.
  • Builds into: Blackfire Torch and Liandry's Torment

New Ability Power Items Image

http://vignette1.wikia.nocookie.net/leagueoflegends/images/9/9f/Meki_Pendant_item.png/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/36?cb=20130319090745 Veilripper (Blasting Wand)

  • UNIQUE Passive - Oppression: Grants 10% bonus magic damage versus targets with impaired movement.
  • Builds into: Nilbog's Sceptre

http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/leagueoflegends/images/a/a8/Deathfire_Grasp_item.png/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/36?cb=20130731230043 Nillbog's Sceptre (Veilripper + Fiendish Codex)

  • UNIQUE Passive - Oppression: Grants 1% bonus magic damage for every 4% that the target's movement speed is slowed, or 25% bonus magic damage versus immobilized targets.

The Oppression passive is inspired by a lesser appreciated portion of Liandry's Torment's effect; moved to a new item entirely. Similar to Giant Slayer, this item is designed to give a conditional power increase. The general lack of innate crowd control upon assassins also makes this item inherently favours by mages, although it's not a bad purchases on assassins depending on their team comp. Note that unless it can be special-cased -- and I don't think it should be -- the ability that applies the crowd control will not be empowered - e.g. Summon Tibbers will not do more damage, but Annie's follow up on the stunned targets will.

Image

http://vignette1.wikia.nocookie.net/leagueoflegends/images/7/71/Priscilla%27s_Blessing_item.png/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/36?cb=20130110021724 Pox Arcana (Needlessly Large Rod + Fiendish Codex)

  • UNIQUE Passive - Pox: Applies a stack of Pox for 10 seconds whenever you deal ability damage, stacking up to 5 times.
  • UNIQUE Active - Disease Harvest: UNIQUE – POX: Deals 100 magic damage plus 20 (+5% AP) per stack of Pox (maximum of 200 (+25% AP)) to all nearby enemies affected by Pox, and restores 5% of your maximum mana for every Pox stack harvested. 60 second cooldown.
  • I decoupled this item from the Lost Chapter collection because I felt like it was too obvious a choice and I liked the decision making behind the other choices of Lost Chapter.

Image

http://vignette1.wikia.nocookie.net/leagueoflegends/images/0/06/Blackfire_Torch_item.png/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/40?cb=20130116010202 Blackfire Torch (Gorgon's Eye + Void Staff)

  • UNIQUE Passive - Banish: Your magic damage ignores 50% of your target's bonus magic resistance.
  • UNIQUE Passive: Reducing an enemy champion below 40% of their max health applies Strife. This cannot happen again against the same target for 60 seconds.
  • Strife: Inflicts Grievous Wounds for 4 seconds, after which it deals 100 (+10% target's missing health) magic damage.

item 3151 Liandry's Torment (Haunting Guise + Void Staff)

  • UNIQUE Passive - Banish: Your magic damage ignores 50% of your target's bonus magic resistance.
  • UNIQUE Passive - Torment: Ability damage applies a burn that deals 1.5% current health every half second for 1 / 2 / 4 seconds (DOT / AOE / Single Target + Multi Hit). Malice has no effect on targets below 40% of their maximum health.

Rod of Ages rework

Image

item 3027 Rod of Ages (Jaurim's Fist + Mejai's Dark Seal + Tear of the Goddess)

  • Grants 200 health, 250 mana and 40 ability power.
  • UNIQUE Passive - Ambition: Grants 5 mana for each spell cast and mana expenditutre, up to 2 times every 8 seconds, up to 750. Generates an additional 1 mana every 8 seconds. (Mana Charge renamed.)
  • UNIQUE Passive - Conquest: Killing a unit permanently grants 5 health, stacking up to 200 health.
  • UNIQUE Passive - Glory: Grants 5 ability power for a champion kill or 2 ability power for a champion assist, up to 40. Transforms into Eleisa's Miracle upon fully charging Ambition, Conquest and Glory.

http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/leagueoflegends/images/9/98/Eleisa%27s_Miracle_item.png/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/36?cb=20130319090310 Eleisa's Miracle

  • Grants 400 health, 1000 mana and 80 ability power.
  • UNIQUE Passive - Valor's Reward: Scoring a champion takedown restores 150 health and 100 mana over 5 seocnds, as well as granting 10% movement speed that decays over the duration.

My personal analysis of Riot wanting to address "mana items" is the current relationship between Rod of Ages and Tear of the Goddess - namely the fact both exist but do not relate to one another. There's also an AP Growth item and a Health Growth item... so let's finally give Mages a Trinity Force!

#Spell Vamp rework http://i.imgur.com/kDPIx5F.png

Overview:

  • Spell Vamp removed as champion statistic, and is now a Named Item Effect.

Misc changes http://i.imgur.com/AsGasGD.png

The change to Abyssal Scepter is based on the iceboxed version that was present on the PBE last year. My own concerns with the item in general are: Why does the best MR item on the Rift not build from Spectre's Cowl (particularly since it also grants health)? Why do we have a point-blank-area damaging item that doesn't build from Bami's (which was a new item at the time)? Actually... why is the best MR item also one of, if not, the best anti-MR item? Why are AP and MR on the same item?

morello sounds cool. be like yorick ghouls but apply grievous wounds. chain vest i like the idea of having a tank item that is partially inspired by poppy's old passive. if it works on 1 auto every so often its quite sensible too.

i'll read rest later in game, nice post tho

btw check this out: http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/7ZrIFZoH-making-sense-of-rabadon-deathcaps-build-path

So...I'll need some time to fully respond to and comment on these, but I wanted to pop in to say that I LOVE the way you think.

Are the items all great? So far, no. There are some that I don't think work, and some that are perhaps more restrictive than they should be. That said, your overall creativity and your design choices are intriguing (and many of them quite good), and for that I intend to give you my full breakdown thoughts when I have more time.

CrimsonCobra33/22/2016, 3:19:14 PM2 votes

I couldn't read it all. There was too much and the font size was too small. But what I saw looked quite in-depth, and though I didn't agree with all the changes, it looked alright.

FloRaider423/22/2016, 5:49:31 PM1 votes

Seems very interesting. I really like some ideas and the overall directions you took those items are interesting, but I think having a bigger font would be nice xD

CoolKnightST3/22/2016, 8:43:34 PM1 votes

Some of the ideas have potentional. Mostly the armor part. After that I fear it slowly starts to crumble. Some of the componements are compleetly change upon upgrade and compleetly lose their idenity with the change while the functionality is compleetly differents. The best examples are banner of command and locket. I'm sorry but it's just messy.

I like the idea of the armor itematisation and changing it like that but than again you will give some hidden power to certain items that will make it even harder to ballance. I'm also not that solid about having no raw stat items. Attack damage and magic damage has it, I'm not sure it will be a good ballance to ballance tanky stats all for the early/midgame. Still I can see it somewhat would with scaling in mind but it's still a trick question it could actualy work:

  • Chain Vest: Not really solid about the passive. The item would be promoted for squishies while it upgrade into Thornmail & Deadman plat. Both are solid tank items. That it wouldn't make sence add all. The only upgrade where it would be intressting for is GA. I fear this version will not work.
  • Glacial Shroud: It looks nice, still it has many issues. You lose the active upon upgrade and you change the compleet ballance riot has build arround the item. It's to tricky to change it like this.
  • Quill Coat: I always like the idea of the return of Quil Coat but that version can give some problems for the current version of thornmail and it would result into making thornmail more powerfull for juggernauts that supportive tanks. Than again sunfire in your version the compleetly the reversed to so I still kinda like it.
  • Raptor Cloak: Back to it's original recipe. Still I like the idea of adding Sunfire as an upgrade.
  • Warden's Mail: Same version, but to be honnest. It their would be something I would change to armor than it would be this one. Randuin & frozen heart gap becomes larger & larger and I slowly start to have my doubs if their is even a use for the componement anymore. Warden's Mail is a heavy counter to item 3115 & item 1403. I highly doubt it would break marksmen if it would be removed without the raw stats to support them. If Warden's Mail would get removed you get the option to move Frozen heart more into the support role like:
  • item 3110 = item 3024 (original version) + item 2053 (your version)

AWESOME! I can read it now. (Well, I could read it before. But now its better.)

I'll tell you everything I found epic, and everything I found egregious. :)

Glacial Shroud = Excellent Quill Coat = Excellent (Presumably. I can’t see stats.) Jaurim’s Fist = Poor (It changes the item identity too much.) Crawler’s Heart = Excellent (Consider a name change.) Martyr’s Gambit = Egregious (I say this only because true damage is not something a tank wants to deal themselves. Even high-health tanks rely a lot on their resistances per level and that little bit they build through items.) Randuin’s Omen = Excellent Stark’s Fervor = Excellent Quicksilver Sash = Egregious (Too many of the high-resistance items build out of this, removing any reason to build one over the other. GA all the way.) Spectre’s Cowl = Excellent Wit’s End = Egregious (We don’t need more on-hit damage. The Magic Shred gave it a strategic niche at least.) Guardian Angel = Egregious (It has a full cleanse + spellshield + revival. That’s 2/3 too much.) Moonflair Spellblade = Excellent Deadman’s Plate = Egregious (Deadman’s Plate is already top-tier) Force of Nature = Excellent Frozen Heart = Excellent Ohmwrecker = Excellent Sunfire Cape = Excellent Thornmail = Excellent (I would make the threshold lower. Closer to 5% instead of 10%) Last Chapter = Excellent Void Staff = Excellent Veilripper = Excellent Pox Arcana = Egregious (Awesome, but too strong.) Blackfire Torch = Egregious (Banish is too strong.) Liandry’s Torment = Egregious (Banish is too strong.) Rod of Ages = Egregious (I like the purposed stacking, but it makes the item too weak. There is rarely a reason to buy it except in that its stats are so good late game. And yes, I’ve often built Rod of Ages and Tear of the Goddess in the same game. It’s beautiful.)

you should include the stats of the items, at first i thought you were removing them, it gives a sense of what's the item direction and their general power.

item 2053 shouldn't build in so many items, it's passive should remain niche or everyone will build its items, and by that i mean people that really need the speed, because if everyone gets it, the relative speed is negated.

Chain vest + Quill Coat would counter AA too hard i think, more if combined with Ninja Tabi and Randuins.

Crawler's Heart should build into something.

Martyr's Gambit seems OP, annoying to the target and weird in general (unkillable adcs)

Trickster's Glass, a troll item and annoying to play with, shouldn't be in the classic game, it doesn't satisfy any needs for classes.

Adding more passives to item 3742 would make them nerf it's other aspects, which isn't kinda needed.

Lost Chapter might be to low tear/cheap to give 20% CDR, now again, would have to see the rest of its stats.

item 1082 shouldn't build into item 3089 and item 1058 , it's a niche item and having it build into those would make people build it almost all the time.

Making item 3135 a component item would make riot make it weaker, though granted, mages need more ways to deal with tanks, im seeing this as giving it the item 3035 treatment.

Veilripper / Nillbog's Sceptre would make everyone build item 3116 combo, no questions asked.

Those changes would absolutely destroy item 3027 which is ok by stacking over time, at most what it could be changed about it is its price and stats, for the rest you have item 3003 .

Your change would make item 3001 into an AP tank item instead of an item for AP assassins or AP bruisers that need the mr.

Your "removed items" list show items that are in no need for removal.

I think that if i had to salvage something, and saying more, something i believe should be added to the game, is your Moonflair Spellblade addition/change in which it can be built from item 3140.

Is this your suggestion or something stated by Riot?

Serrated Dirk has a passive that is in not retained in its upgrades, nor do the upgrades even parallel the passive. It just disappears. Is this acceptable? Does this feel bad? Would giving Chain Vest a similar treatment be... bad?

You guys are saying Dead Man's Plate is bloated and I fully agree - I thought this before I posted it, too. However, the Tank Upgrade project was to remove Chain Vest, Giant's Belt and Negatron Cloak - but Dead Man's Plate and Zz'Rot Portal do not naturally lend themselves to any of the new component. For Dead Man's Plate - would building from Chain Vest but not retaining the Adamant passive be bad? An alternative would be to make Dead Man's Plate build from Jaurim's Fist + Cloth Armor + Cloth Armor, but that feels messy. I would say Keirchis Shard + Jaurim's Fist to compliment its charge-over-time passive, but Health + AS items have been unsuccessful in the past.

item 3091 looks good. I really would like to have the magic pen on wits end be flat. Since I'd like to benefit from it upfront with my first rotation of spells. so instead of stealing mr, autos would generate a purple shield and it would have like 15 magic pen.

Martyr's Gambit would be op. The game already revolves around the adc enough as it is, being able to allocate even more resources onto them would be excessive.

with item 3140 you need to have it such that you decide when to activate it, as an adc that's crucial. otherwise poke comps will easily just pop your qss.

hextech revolver do you mean having like 12% spellvamp and healing at a 100% ratio like this: http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/TaXPYTao-spellvamp-100-scale-on-aoe-but-with-100-cap-as-thoughwas-singletargetoverlap-w-current-equation or straight up healing at 1 to 1 ratio of damage dealt because that would be op. I do like the cannot exceed cap value however.

Even if the numbers are off I think this post can really help generate ideas.

Curious about Zeke's Harbinger and Mikael's Crucible former heal?

This project was actually performed in tandem with a Support Item Overhaul:

Ancient Coin Murksphere Relic Shield Spellthief's Edge

Goals:

  • Add an alternative upgrade for each tree.
  • Remove the Gold Generation passives from the tier-3 items in exchange for more powerful items (excluding the Sightstone upgrades, which retain the Gold Generation).
  • Reprise Avarice Blade and remove Cull.
  • In tandem with points 2 and 3 - support additional classes/niches of Supports, e.g. a dedicated mana regeneration item, a heal item, a defender item, an initiator item, etc.
