Ashteroth, the Harbinger of Doom

(Note: Ignore the current title up above. I didn't remember that Fiddlestick's title is Harbinger of Doom before I posted this, so instead the title is Ashteroth, Herald of Destruction. Sorry for the mishap.)

So I had a little bit of trouble decided whether or not to try and create this champion. This is mostly due to the fact that I designed him to be a fighter but designed to deal more magic and AP damage rather then regular damage. I really didn't want to post this considering Ekko is now more like this rather then a squishy AP assassin fighter, but looking over it I decided to post it mostly because this is specifically going into the idea of more of a AP Juggernaut based champion rather then a very mobile assassin that just so happened to turn into a tank somehow.

#Lore

(If you're wondering about all the he/she, just keep ready until the appearance portion) Ashteroth is demon that has pretty much been around since the beginning of existence. He/she was basically born out from the creation of humans and pretty much all other life on other worlds, this mostly being war, death, destruction, fire, etc. Because of being born from this, he/she is obligated to continue these actions and basically become an icon of such things. The gods of Targon however, as well as other gods noticed this and decided to banish him/her to the darkest parts of the universe. When this was done she immediately started making her way back to them taking thousands if not millions of years (we don't really know how old the League universe is anyway so just role with it) and while doing so also starting countless wars on other worlds and feeding off of them for more strength, even more so killing some of the gods that banished him/her along the way as well. When finally arriving back the remaining gods (the Targonians and Naga-whatever the rest of his name is) decided this time to lock her up instead down in the Howling Abyss down on Runeterra, which at this time had no humans living in the Freljord at that moment. So he/she gets locked up and over the years, their are still conflicts above for him/her to feed off of, but not enough and so he's/she's actually on the brink of death at this point. However, the Rune Wars kick off, fully reviving him/her. Then of course later the Watchers get sent down there with him/her and from there he/she actually kills most of them to regain more of his/her strength. So then finally after the longest time, he/she breaks free from her prison up to Runeterra to do what he/she was born from: cause war, death and havoc for no other reason then just to enjoy it.

#Abilities

Passive - Basic attacks deal additional 15/35/55/75 (+10% of his/her AP) magic damage.

Q - Releases a wave of fire in target direction, dealing damage to all enemies hit by base amount + % AP. The area from the cone is then left scorched for X seconds, dealing damage to enemies based on there max health and increases Ashteroth's movement speed when walking over it.

W - Toggle: Your basic attacks deal additional magic damage based on a % of your AP + % of your max mana, while costing you a portion of your mana. As well, your attacks on targets will slow them by 15/25/35/45% for 1 seconds with a 6/5/4/3 second cooldown before you can slow them again (similar to Jarvan's passive).

E - Brings a shield around you for X seconds. Shield has a base value, scaling with rank, + % HP and max mana. The shield mas also be detonated after a short time to deal base damage + % HP + a % of how much damage it absorbed. The detonation will also take place after the timer expires. While the shield is up, the detonation damage will increase to a max. value. If the shield is destroyed before the timer expires or before manual detonation, it will deal reduced base + % HP damage but deal 100% of the damage it absorbed instead of a % amount.

R - Launches in the air and strikes down at target location, dealing massive at the epicenter, stunning any enemies in it and creating a wave in all directions, dealing damage to all enemies it hits. The wave will also turn the ground to scorched earth for a longer duration. (Notes: This ult is unstoppable and if you don't really know what this is suppose to look like, basically think of an Aatrox Q but with something like this at the end https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4kPz4cvIYEA)

#Appearance & Theme

Overall, I really couldn't decide on what this champ would look like, mostly because I couldn't decided on what gender to make him. Orignally I planned on making him male, but then I decided to want and try and make a female champ and then I got into a debate with myself on what he/she should be while being stuck with a name already. However, I did want to make some sort of demon type character, one that looks more like what I'm use to seeing in Warhammer, D&D, Magic, etc as well as bring forth a champion that had some heavy aspects of Doom/Shadow Fiend/Outworld Devourer from Dota into League and so that's what I planned to do. The images below are what I mean and are references and guidelines on how I'd picture him/her/I don't know anymore.

On a side note, I've remembered some people with there creations adding there own login theme with their creations. So I found a theme that sounds pretty good for what had in mind (obviously can't use it directly but you get the idea)

#Notes

  • Other inspiration for this champ also came from Khorne from the Warhammer franchise. He's overall my favorite type to play in the games so I wanted to try and implement something like him as well in this.

  • Originally in the lore, I was going to have Ashteroth somehow be the creator of the Darkin, thus having some sort of rivalry or friendship with Aatrox and give more backstory to them as a whole, but I scrapped the idea just because it sounds too stupid and overall I was having trouble with the lore already.

  • Supposedly he/she is the most powerful demon to exist. So powerful that even other demons are afraid of her.

  • While in game of course she has to die, in terms of story she can't technically die. She was born from war and conflict and thus feeds off of it growing stronger with more death and bloodshed (really I could've implemented this into his/her kit better but I just wanted to get this out first). So even if you think you kill her, reality is she just travels to some other dimension, gets reborn again and comes back. The only way to really kill her is just kill off her lifeline: end war make peace. That's what almost killed her when she was locked up. Though due to the events of the Rune Wars and the rivalry between most of the countries of Runterra, that's not going to happen anytime soon.

And that's the end of the concept. If you didn't really enjoy or just have hate for this then please move along. Hey!

I enjoy champion concepts more then anything else and haven't done a review recently, though I would changed that. The art intrigued me, so here we are. I am not good a reviewing lore, as I look more for more of a good story, then it actually working in the League of Legends theme.

I like the idea of an AP Juggernaut. I think it is very interesting due to the fact the the 'AP Bruiser' pool of champions is quite small. You have Ekko, Diana, Rumble the more high damage of them, with Cho'Gath being the tanky one. I am surprised their aren't more of them them to be honest, but I guess it comes down to you have to choose them to be a tank, or a bruiser, and most of them function healthier as a tank. Anywho, onto the abilities.

The Passive: It feels like a weaker version of Diana's passive. Diana's passive has the bonus of having a base damage, an actually better AP scaling them this, and a strike in an AoE in front of her. The reason this is an issue is because, it is fine to have a similar passive, but starting with the 10% bonus AP as additional damage, means that your early game auto trades are going to pathetic. You might get 1, 2, or maybe even 3 additional magic damage done by it, and even late game with on the high end 300-400 AP, it is dealing a meager 30-40 bonus magic damage on it. I could do better with a Wit's End's on hit, and get an effect earlier, then with the current passive. I would say either give it a base damage, say scaling up at level 1,6,11,16, you get 10/25/40/55/70(Plus 10% AP) if you want to keep that passive.

The Q: I like the concept a lot actually, feels like a more area denial version of Nocturne's with more potential damage AoE, and no self buff. Good!

The W: I would say, put no timer on it, scale the slow with level, and have it always cost mana. Right now it it is a 1/4 slow for one second, with some extra on hit damage, now I would say have say, a 2/3 second time frame before you can slow the same target, to prevent the accursed perma slowing.

The E: Right now, he has no reason to build HP, over pure AP and Mana(Frozen heart, Iceborn, Rabbadons, items of those sort) I would say, remove the mana scaling, and give it a % HP scaling, to encourage the AP Juggernaut build over Ryze Build V2.

The R: I think the R is solid, acts as a damage buffer, but be careful to not over scale the numbers because the rest of kit can very easily back a pretty big punch.

Koolio!

The E feels too close to Sions W but I like this kit a lot.

However she doesn't seem to bring anything unique to the table. I suggest you replace that pretty boring passive with something unique and interesting.
