[Champion Concept] Sorrel, The Merry Wanderer

Hey everybody!! Thanks for looking at my concept. I hope you like it :D It is an ever expanding project, so check in regularly if you are interested!! If you have any thoughts or suggestions, don’t shy away from telling me in the comments!!

Appearance: See Picture (it is not mine obviously, I have no talent for drawing whatsoever...). It was very hard to find a good artwork that would show the idea I was going for. This still is a bit too cartoony, but it gives a general idea. I want Sorrel to be like a standard Fairy, with wings and clothing made out of plants. He would be smaller then normal humans (like a yordle) but with normal proportions. He could fly as a running animation and otherwise skip down the lane. He should have a carefree and fearless attitude. His voice should sound clear and jolly.

New Mechanic: Sorrel does not use Mana, but has an ammunition mechanic on some of his abilities. Additionally, Sorrel wields his trusty slingshot in combat, for which he uses Pellets that he picks up off the ground. When attacking, Sorrel will pick up a Pellet and fire it instantly, at the same rate as his attack speed. If Sorrel is out of combat for at least 3 seconds however, he will gather up to 3 Pellets (maximum Pellets increases with E), which can then be shot in rapid succession with twice his attack speed the next time he is in combat.

Passive, Travellers Curiosity: As a wide-eyed Faerie adventurer, Sorrel has learned what to look for on his journeys. Every 2 minutes, Sorrel has a chance of finding a special item, depending on his location (given that he has an empty item slot). When he has no empty item slots, the items will be used instantly, gaining their active effects if they have any. All items can be sold at the shop for 1 gold (aside from Piece of Amber) to open up inventory space.

He will restock whenever he is near the allied fountain. **Active: ** Sorrel fires a self made Pixy Dust Bomb from his slingshot that deals 30 / 70 / 110 / 150 / 190 (+ 60% AD / 40% AP) AoE Magic Damage in a targeted 250 unit radius. The bomb will leave a cloud of Pixy Dust within a 500-unit radius for 5 seconds. Enemies that remain in the cloud for up to 2 seconds will be “Shrunk” for 2 / 2 / 2.5 / 2.5 / 3 seconds. Shrunken enemies will be slowed by 30% and have their range and Auto attack Damage reduced by half. When Sorrel has no Pixy Bombs left, activating this ability will cause him to create one on the spot during a 2.5 second channel. The channel can be cancelled any time by moving, activating another ability or attack an enemy unit.

It will pierce through any enemy unit other then Champions and deals 30 / 70 / 110 / 150 / 190 (+90% AD) (+20% AP) to all units hit. When Kindle Shot encounters a cloud of Pixy Dust, it will combust into a fiery explosion that deals 20 / 80 / 140 / 200 / 260 (+ 80% AD) (+ 70% AP) Magic Damage to all units in the area. The cloud of Pixy Dust and he Kindle Shot will disappear upon combustion.

Active: If Sorrel has gathered at least 3 Pellets, he can activate this ability and will start channelling. After at least 0.5 seconds, a shot can be fired in a cone, that will deal 80 / 125 / 170 / 215 / 260 (+25% AD per gathered Pellet) Physical Damage to all hit enemies and knocking them back for a few units and stunning them for 1 second. Every additional 0.5 seconds channelled will increase the width of the cone (ranging from an almost straight line the width of one medium sized champion to a cone the width of Ashe’s volley) but reduces the stun duration by 0.2 seconds and the knockback distance, up to 3 times in total (so max 2 seconds after initial cast, with a min. stun duration of 0.2 seconds).

During this time he will be able to fly and see over terrain and will be immune to any Melee range attacks and abilities. Additionally, the range on Pixy Bomb is increased as well, but Sorrel cannot use any other abilities.


Lore: Long, very long ago. In days before Demacia and Noxus, back when the ancient empire of Shurima was but a mere settlement and Ionia had not even been touched by human hands, there lived strange creatures in the dense and remote forests of Runeterra. These forests, known now as Glades, were places where the ancient magic of the world still lingered; bending time and reality like it was dough. They allowed passage into a land that is neither the realm of mortals, nor that of gods. A realm that is different and the same at the same time. And the only way to get to these places was to get completely and utterly lost...or to have a native guide the way... For in these places, creatures of magic thrived that had no origin known to man. These creatures called themselves “The Fae”. Many and various they were, living all together in this land, rarely venturing out into the mortal realm. As one of the Fae, Sorrel had known little else but his own changing and fluctuating world. But unlike most other Fae, Sorrel carried in him a hunger, an aching for new things, for unknown things. To sate his appetite, he would travel all over the Faelands. But eventually he had seen everything. He had seen Dwarves dance, observed Fauns frolicking, helped Witches weave and heard Sirens Sing... It was time for him to do what he had always dreamed of doing, but never dared. He gathered his things and left for the Glade...the portal that would take him to the mortal realm. He took his first steps with his eyes closed. His heart raced with excitement. He bit his lip and then peeked through one eye. He got a glimpse of something green. He opened his eyes a little more. The green thing seemed to be a tree. He then opened his eyes completely and took a deep breath. He saw a big tree, covered in branches and vines and leaves. He stared at it, expecting it to...well...to change. But it didn’t. He waited there for what mortals called an hour, then two, three, four...He blinked a few times, flew upside down, turned around... But the tree was still there...as it had been the first time he saw it. It was still and unchanging. It had settled itself in one way and in that stillness evolved into a thing of beauty. Sorrel smiled. He smelled adventure, felt the world calling him. He knew it. This was his destiny. The mortal world had many mysteries for him and the only way he was to unravel it all was if he left the Fae Lands for good. He took a deep breath, looked back once...and set of into the world.

This world...This wonderful world. It’s so big! And filled with all sorts of fantastical things that would take your breath away. I can know. I’ve seen a lot of it! And tasted, and felt, heard, observed, tickled...And the tales I could tell... It was scary at first, so many new things, wonderful new things... But adventures are no fun if there isn’t a little bit of danger. And how could I see and do everything in this world if I stayed away from new things? I have seen the blistering sands and ancient ruins of old Shurima. I have travelled the icy peaks and clear fjords of the Freljord. I have spent many nights staring at the stars above Mount Targon. I have marvelled at the creations in the workshops of Piltover. I travelled up and down Ionia to see every single Festival there is... And yet I haven’t seen it all...not even close...there is still so much to see, new sights, new horizons, new landscapes, new adventures!! Every day offers countless new opportunities to marvel at the world and think; how wonderful is this world? I have vowed to go on the biggest adventure of my life; to live the life of my dreams...Care to join me?

Special interactions: Lulu Ally Lulu: If Lulu uses “Help Pix!!” on Sorrel as he ascends into the sky for his ult, Pix’s attacks will no longer hit the first enemy they come across but will in stead hit Sorrels target directly. This is because Sorrel is flying and will have a clear shot on his target. Sorrel will comment on this saying: “YEA!! Lets show em Pix!!_”

Enemy Lulu: At any point during a game where Sorrel and Lulu are in opposite teams, an event called “_Old friends” will activate. Sorrel will comment on this saying: “Why don’t you help me for a change Pix?” and Lulu answering: “You’d want that, won’t you?” If Sorrel defeats Lulu during this event (both kill and assist suffice), Pix will accompany Sorrel for as long as it takes Lulu to respawn, essentially granting Sorrel Lulu’s passive. If Lulu defeats Sorrel during this event (both kill and assist suffice), Pix will gain Sorrels passive, allowing her to gather items for as long as Sorrel takes to respawn. This event can trigger multiple times within one game.

Hi! I thought I'd leave you a review.

Passive: RNG...well RNG has never sat well with League, particularly since it's been phased out since basically the beginning. (Even crit is not true RNG, instead skewing towards more crit if you haven't crit in a while), and the items are somewhat strange and situational, which can either make you feel absolutely great, or pretty bad. In particular is the Rare Herb. If you're vs a DoT team, like a Teemo, or a Cass, or a Malzahar, well that's great. Otherwise, you feel terrible. The others are also extremely limited/situational (I mean the flask of water is nice, I guess, but the 1 true damage autoattack? Feels lacking) It also seems to be somewhat lacking in the late game. Your percentages also add up to 95%. Does this mean there is a 5% chance of getting nothing?

Q: This is mostly fine, in my opinion. Just a couple of things I want to pick on. First is the 500 radius. Holy crap that is huge. If you go play Sivir, then mouse over her AA range, well, that's the radius, which is extremely powerful given it halves range AND AA damage. With any kind of CC, noone is getting out of that, not to mention how much stats you are robbing from the enemy team. An ability of this caliber, especially with those effects belong on an ultimate, most likely on a support, and not someone who can do much damage by himself. Also, when creating a bomb, does he have to shot it striaght away, or can he hold onto it?

W: The interaction with Q is very nice, and brings a sense of combo and synergy to the character. It's fine by itself, but reducing the radius on Q would go far in balancing it out. Minor numbers thing as well - is the AD scaling total or bonus? Regardless having a 260 +120% AD nuke is huge, probably hitting for about 700 damage alone with that, which is very scary.

E: I'm not really sure how to feel about this ability. It's definitely very creative and innovative, but I'm unsure whether it belongs on this kit. Everything else suggests that this should be a caster-like ADC, while this ability definitely screams support to me. There is a ton of utility behind this, and you're actively harming your DPS by using this (which is basically the reason why ADCs are played) so...I feel that this could perhaps be replaced with a steroid to an extent, to make it so that it's more cohesive. I understand the want to have a creative ability in the kit, but you've also got to think about it in regard to how it will help the champion function as they are.

R: It's a steroid ultimate. Personally I'm not a fan of these, as there is basically not much gameplay to them outside of 'click button for stats'. If you are going to do them, I would suggest enhancing, or unlocking another ability a la Vayne/Riven. Also being unable to be wounded by melee attacks...as much as I hate Zed, Talon, Fizz, and all the other assassins, this is just..unfair...given how long it lasts. I would also like to ask what counts as a melee attack? Of course, there are your actual melee attacks, but what about ranged attacks in melee range? What about melee abilities? There needs to be some clarification as to what these things are so it's easier to tell.

Overall I like the ideas and the creativity behind this, but I think you need to tie your character better into a theme, and to tighten up some slight issues.

what I liked most was the pebbles passive. makes for grade trades and makes for a way more unique adc. also liked the QW combo because it adds to his gameplay ( though it needs to have its numbers down by a lot).

I didn't like how op his q is and his ult is pretty anti fun too. his E is very situational but still nice.

as a character he is very likeable, I enjoyed the lore.

I liked your lore and concept a lot. his kit seems a bit too strong and I'm not a fan of the RNG element, but very good work non the less

My main concern is that the R seems really overpowered. The passive component is great but the active is just one of those thing that needs hella nerfed/rettoled before it could see play on the rift.
