After a year of not playing League... The game is not fun being so massively damage creeped.

Mobile champions are too save and have too much damage on top of their safety. They should be compensated for their mobility with gutting their damage, at least there is counter play around a burst mage (especially if Flash would ever get removed) due to their immobility on their kit.

And then overall, there is too much damage, time to kill is too quick. It is not fun for me dying so quickly no matter what, even with sudo-defensive items, and equally not satisfying when the enemy dies either.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 showcases the combat actually being more fun fighting higher level stuff that you do not overpower and one-shot, you can use your attack combo and chain that into your abilities and have this satisfying loop, where as fighting a low level unit one shots it and is no longer satisfying or fun - and this is a single player game.

Right now in League of Legends you don't even have to use all of your abilities / properly combo and chain things together in order to kill your target because they are dead far before that. The lack of tanks that I don't see in solo queue may be adding to this, but still the time to kill is too quick. Paladins is a team based shooter and has a lower time to kill that League that is a MOBA and even then people complained time to kill was too quick, so they actually went and lowered the outliers of having too much damage.

There is a difference between landing all of your spells in a proper combo to kill someone and use 1.5 abilities (if that) and someone dying, even 2-3 basic attacks and some could fall over dead. A champion sneezes in league of legends and instantly slays another champion, they are supposed to be champions on champions, great warriors, fighting against each other so they would hurt, but also hard to take down as well.

The time-consuming, yet "quick", fix would be adding a bunch more health to every champion and/or making armour/mr more effective damage absorption low number values and possibly have the fall off more extreme for stacking. Tanks need a buff anyways and this would help them out - plus everyone being tankier resolves another issue of tanks dealing too much damage and this naturally buffs the sustain damage marksmen as well which have been weak for awhile now since sustain damage becomes more important in a tankier world.

For those that do not know, armour/mr reduces a % amount of damage of their respective damage type, the more you have the less of a % reducing gain you get, but the number obviously keeps going up.

Anyways, I will be playing other games until Riot makes League fun to play again, or they make that other game they claim to be working on.

On a side note, you can always make an alternate game mode (and probably a new map to go with it) that is all about low time to kill that are quick matches, and the main gameplay is a higher time to kill to give a more enjoyable experience to others. This way those that like being one shot and one shotting has a place to go and everyone else can play a more methodical game like how old league was.

I just wanted to give some insight instead of bitching and complaining, there is too much of that on the internet.

It is so fucking sad. I loved this game up until season 7 ended, with all my heart. I was completely passionate about it for five years, non-stop. This changed twelve months ago.

Starting season 8, League turned into a oneshot fiesta and a lot of champions lost their identities. Everyone deals a massive amount of damage and everyone can splitpush. Strategic teamfights turned into three seconds of button mashing. The calm aspect of the game, the part I loved most, completely vanished. Get seen/hit first, die. We became a Call of Duty MOBA.

For the first time in my life, almost every game of League felt empty, unsatisfying or frustrating. I kept telling myself: 'be patient, there has always been rough patches.' I kept telling this to myself for twelve months. I thought something similar to the old rune system would finally return, but this pre-season is a joke as well.

After agreeing that damage is too high (almost a year of complaints in), Riot releases the new Dark Harvest, just shifts the rune stat bonuses somewhere else and introduces completely inefficient defensive stats that are not worth taking instead of adding a true buff to overall defense.

I can not take another year of frustration. It is sad, but I guess I will turn my back on this game after six years and spend my free time meaningfully again. I really do not get how Riot does not see they could slow down the decline of their game massively by just reverting the rune system and champion base stats. It seems like the Chinese internet café scene is too important, so they force twenty minute oneshot fiestas down our throat.

I just want my favorite game back, but I guess that does not happen. I keep telling people my point of view to also try to push these kinds of posts, but I do not think Riot will ever actually start listening.

I have been playing since the start of season 1, last couple of seasons just lost me (plus I have been playing my Switch, also Black Ops 4 on Xbox One), so there is still some kind of investment care left here and even spent over $200 over the years (accumulative over the years, not all at once) on the game since I did enjoy my time and it did give entertainment value.

Right now Paladins fulfills the fantasy element League is supposed to have and actually feels like they fix things the community complains about, community is nice unlike Overwatch, and feels a lot more deep and actual customization unlike League since the cards and talents are unique to the champion (League can use the same system, but there are so many champions at this point it will take a very long time to implement). Also free to play for Switch, Xbox One, PC, and PS4 - Switch + Xbox One has crossplay and Evil Mojo wants to expand on it (Sony does not play nice right now, unless you are Fortnite and people are dropping your console to play elsewhere which forces their hand). ~ Anyways, this was a very random side factor, but the game is giving me what old League had and focused on - keeping in mind a completely different genre - so it is nice playing a game again that is fun and does what made League popular in the first place (also tanks and supports are super fun to play as and all unique with different play styles).

Something they can do is, this is a massive change and takes a lot of work, is increase the health pools by like 400 to 2000 health based on both champion level and varying based on champion / champion type, but everyone gets the boost, and have armour/mr more effective at lower values with a steeper soft fall off so 200 armour/mr is roughly the same (maybe a tiny bit better) so that it feels more like an action RPG like what a MOBA is based off of rather than an action game with no RPG elements. Time to kill should not be faster than a shooter, this is not fun to be in for a MOBA and I don't think it makes the game more exciting since it makes kills less meaningful if everyone is blowing up in seconds or less.

Hockey goals are exciting because there is usually not very many in a game, same with football touchdowns, the difficulty and infrequency actually makes it that much more exciting when it does occur. Splatoon 2 has a mode called clam blitz where you gather 10 clams to turn it into a football filled with clams and have to get in close to the enemy goal and throw it in to break it for the small clams can get inside which are lighter and thus throw a farther distance away. This is exciting because of how hard it is to get the ball to break the barrier, but when you pull of the sick move get it there, you feel insanely great and satisfying and creates a highlight clip just for playing the game how it is meant to be played.

Right now battle royales are popular and kills are scarce in that genre as well, but when you get the kill it is satisfying (real wins are ultra rare as well, which makes it that much more special when you do win). Satisfying elements are fun in games and League has lost that for a couple of seasons now (cannot remember how season 6 was).

If they want a fast game mode all about kills then they need to make a new map that is 100% jungle with mini bases with no respawn timers, has URF rules, and is all about kills and first one to - let's say 30 kills - wins with top 4 considered winners so that half the players are winning and not just the 1 (though only 1 true winner), it is 8 player free for all match. This offers something for the fast pace, blood bath gameplay and something different and quicker to normal League, and then slow down the kills for Summoner's Rift / Twisted Treeline / Howling Abyss - offering a win-win scenario for traditional, more methodical gameplay and have a blood bath kill game mode and map for those that want that kind of gameplay with League URF rules [would be everyone level 18 and start the game with a gold limit that cannot be increased, to get full build, but also limit the build to not all have super items]

I think just giving ALL of the champions more base health and a lot more by level 18 (I do mean ALL), with tanks receiving a bigger boost, and adjusting the % reduction of armour/mr will really just help solve most of the issues in the game and make it easier to tune.

Remember in old league mages had both more ability power, a lot more, and significantly higher ability power ratios on everything and were not one shotting anyone since the defenses were higher. Also the game was more fun with less mobility in it, mobility should be saved for single player platformers, multiplayer games makes it frustrating for the players on the reaching end and removes their fun for someone else's when there is a bunch of mobility - mobile champions need to get retuned.

So increasing everyone's defenses means that all of the ability power items need to get a lot more AP added to them (easier than slightly increasing AP on items and increasing everyone's AP ratios as well by just massively boosting the AP from items). From that point you trim power from the outliers that end up being too strong and boost those too weak, mages are easiest to tune for power and balance due to the nature of their kits and how they get played.

Another thing that added to damage creep is the weird ratios, all of the ratios, unless they are directly link to the basic attack in some form, were meant to be ABILITY POWER based since it boosts the power of your abilities. Changing this simple to understand formula just messed up the balance of the game. Attack Damage was balanced around the fact that everyone gets 100% AD on their attacks, by adding in AD ratios you introduce double scaling which ruins the balance of the game, ability power only affecting abilities made it easier to balance since you either increase ability strength or your attacks hit harder, but not both at the same time unless a champion was balanced around having an on hit effect which scales with AP and not offer double scaling.

I rambled on too long, later!

There is no such thing as damage creep, look at the new runes, all the offensive runes have more gold value than the defensive runes, definitely not by accident.

That's because it takes more offense to overcome less defense. Get a Frozen Heart and watch as a three item Zed can no longer kill you through your one item. You gotta be ahead for your damage to do much, hence why ADCs need to be babysat.

This is literally every game in the world. There is never going to be a perfect game. All the developers do is take the minor problems and make the whole game garbage. They never listen to major requests or suggestions. Developers all think too hard in updating a game. All updates do are make the game 10 times worse.

3TWarrior3 votes

actually, league did listen until late season 5, they even wanted to show pride in their game with player counts, reason behind their buffs/nerfs and of course, explaining their decision process with the former head's over 10 years of competitive online gaming design experience...

I suggest everyone move to DBD, its a hella lot more fun and a little silly at times, and amazing to play with friends.

Honestly, when you suggest people move to another game, you assume they don't know the game. Why would you abbrv? I have no idea what DBD means except another Dragon Ball remake.

Dead by Daylight. Because its common abbreviation like WoW, OW, LoL, MTG,

Googled it: "An asymmetrical multiplayer horror game"

Not really into horror, so I'll pass, thanks. I have reinstalled AOE2 recently, and Voobly is kinda decent nowadays, so I'm thinking of returning to that. Time to practice my Teutons.

I don't even NEED to read your post. All I need to say is that it is currently preseason, and I don't think that a single preseason in history HASN'T been a bit damage-creeped. Give it time; they'll bring it back down.

Try the whole past season... Duskblade was a mistake as runes reforged and so on

Duskblade YES, Runes Reforged? Not so much. The runes are one of the better changes to happen to the game.

Removing years of foundational balance for every champion is not one of the "better changes to happen to the game". Runes reforged is one of the reasons everyone has no hope of them reigning in the damage creep.

I've been through five preseasons and it happens every time. No need to throw in ad hominem. You're above that, sir.

Yeah. Technically, they do take damage down every time after bringing it up. But not by the same amount that they brought it up by. It has overall been an upwards trend, and there's no sign of that changing anytime soon.

SURE as they did lst time?XD I dont know if i should sit or cry reading your lines the blind belives are there...... DO YOU BELIVE IN THE LORD?

PalPlays1 votes

I do, actually. They DID bring damage down; almost every single damage rune got nerfed, along with the ADC items that were egregious. People just seem to pull an "Israelites' complaining to Moses" every preseason.

The defensive stats for runes have been shit for over a year. The whole rune system is shit. Everyone takes the same runes that are just way better than the other trash. Does he have AD quints, MS quints, Lifesteal quints, AS quints? No, he has Electrocute/Dark Harvest and 5 armor like the guy across from him. Defensive itemization has become outdated as fuck, as new offensive items and masteries get poured into the game. Towers have been shit, damage has been fucking silly, and games have been too fast for over a year. OP god tier champions only changes when someone gets a rework and is overloaded. Zac Sejuani Revert, fucking trash failed concepts for LC$. item 3147 item 3095 Delete, shit has been mandatory since they were released. More RGMs, make them permanent, get me out of the ranked shitfest so I can catch my breath. All the problems from over a year ago are still the problems today.

We have already given it 3 years...

And what has happened in that time? It's only been steadily getting worse.
