The new Katarina splash feels like a step back

I don't like to complain about new stuff because a lot of the time it's just "I hate change" but there's a new Kat splash on the PBE and I really have to say I dislike it.

I know her current splash has a very basic/unrelated backround but Kat herself looks really good in it and it looks especially great on the loading screen. The new splash...? The backround is cool, the Shunpo effect is cool, but I really dislike how Kat herself looks. The prettiness is gone and... somehow she looks void of personality. For some reason it even feels like a splash from a few years back.

Just registering my opinion.

"prettiness "? "cute"? all these things I keep reading in these threads doesn't sound like Katarina at all. She's a deadly assassin. She's not meant to be cutesy and nice when she's jumping down your throat.

The new Katarina splash doesn't feel like a step back.

It IS a step back.

Seriously, Katarina needs a change to her PBE splash more than any other champ that got a new splash.

She looks like she has more of a personality to me, compared to her live splash. Live splash just looks like some cutesy girl with daggers, the PBE one looks like an assassin. I can understand some of the complaints people have, but maybe I'm just more lenient since this just seems like a hyper-stylized image, much like the Ezreal splash (I wouldn't be surprised if they were done by the same artist). The biggest thing for me though is that her face is still instantly recognizable as Katarina, especially comparing to how a lot of other splashes came out (Ahri's still looks nothing like I think she would look like). I can understand some complaints especially since the Warring Kingdoms Katarina came out at a similar time and looks more like Kat than this splash (similar to how Challenger Ahri came out around the same time as her updated splash and is more like Ahri than her live base splash).

The amount of vitriol people are throwing around about this is unreal though. Just another day in the LoL community I guess

Totally agree with you. Sadly tho, I think they will not change it too much. Look Ahri's splash for example, they only made some little tweaks on her face. This one needs to be redone.

Let's address the **real **problem:

Her face
Her right leg is oddly shaped but not really a big issue
HER FACE! Identity is all about the face. If it is different, you lose 90%. This one is - sorry to say it bluntly - ugly. The new one is longer and thinner while her normal head is rounder and smaller.

Don't neglect this like Lee Sin. Wukong's head looked artistically better before the facelift, all he needed was darker fur. Kata needs a new head or heavy modification, colors used are great.

Try making it look like the Katarina from the trailer atleast. Better is always...better :D

Again, all she needs is a facelift and a good one will make the splash 90% tastier. I'll ask my gf tomorrow to do one if she can.

this splash looks ugh. kat is a female assassin. females assassins tend to be very pretty to aid in their kill attempts. she looks like a dirty whore now

she looks goofy looking. like who the hell approved that when they made warring kingdoms kat look so good?

I got an idea Riot should fix it so (All Champion Art-Works) can be selected in champion select including old models.

All just because her breasts are not as in your face as her old splash. Thats all it is. Why can't you all just be honest and say that you wish her splash art (keeping in mind, a fake portrait of a fake character) was of her breasts hanging out, wearing hooker boots, playing in the bath with only bubbles covering the rest of her body... oh and a couple of knives whatever.

Lol. Man if you hate the maturity of her recent plash then just mod in your own splash art of her half naked.

All the comments are utter BS. "oh her face is longer", "oh her body perspective is too much", "oh uhhhh, she uhhhh, doesnt look right". Just say her boobs are not as pronounced in the new splash as the older one. Man-up. Don't cover up the truth like some.... teenager... wait... lol.

Anyways. I think the new splash looks awesome. Major props to the artist for keeping with the times and adding more intense perspective. It's not easy to do that kind of work. All the kids who just feel like their fictional girlfriend just got a boob reduction will have to either suck it up or do what i said and mod in their own skankier version.

I don't really think this new splash's face is a bad face at all. The only problem I have is it just isn't Katarina. If it were a new champion I'd say it was fine, but it looks like they changed the actual bone structure of her face that we see in all of her current skins. I think that's an easy fix, and they'll likely do tweaking before its official release. If they change her to have a smaller and rounder face I think the splash will look great.
