Making the Sun [Leona Ability Kit Concept]
First off, there is nothing about Leona that makes you go "oh, this is a sun champion" where as Diana has a crescent shaped skill shot that glows.
Points to go over with Leona:

Make her less high risk and high reward. Leona needs to be more consistent as a support, right now she either wins super hard or loses super hard, which is not good considering lose super hard means she is a reliability to her team as a support - this is not a good thing.

Add things to her kit that makes sense for a sun champion. Even something simple like attacking Leona blinds the attacker, plays into looking into the sun blinds you, but this is a good thing to go with as it makes Leona tanky without the need for gold which is good as a support tank and a blind functions better than a dodge mechanic since it helps your team stay alive as well while serving a similar purpose. So to get people to attack you to blind them she may need something like a taunt, but could be an one attack taunt rather than a duration taunt since you only need them to attack once to get blinded. The blind would be a new passive, so it would have an on-target cooldown to it.

Better counter play against Leona is something to keep in mind, so making sure she is not frustrating to play against or unfair to play against. With this, we also want to make sure Leona feels powerful for the user and can do her job as a support tank.

I want to focus on more protection rather than killing her target. This should help her be less feast or famine and able to serve her job better. I also do want to make her feel unique and try to not have overlap with other support tanks, because right now Alistar does Leona's job but better without the feast or famine aspect and has more helpful elements like a tank ultimate and an AoE heal.

Sun Armor (Passive): Ranks: @levels 1/3/5/7/9/11/13
When Leona gets basic attacked, she blinds the attacker for 1/1.25/1.5/1.75/2/2.25/2.5 seconds, this can occur against the same target once every 7 seconds. This causes the first attack against Leona to miss.
Sunbeam (Q): Cooldown: 11/10/9/8/7 seconds; Cost: 70/80/90/100/110 mana; Range: 1200 units
Leona raises her sword and sends a beam of sunlight to the target ally, healing it and herself for 50/70/90/110/130(+4%health)(+70%AP) health and dealing 60/100/140/180/220(+60%AP) magic damage and stunning for 1.5 seconds to struck enemies caught in between; 50% damage, stun duration and healing if cast against a non-champion.
Eclipse (W): Cooldown: 15/13/11/9/7 seconds; Cost: 60 mana; Range: 425 units
Leona blacks out the light around her, causing herself to take double damage from basic attacks for [1.5/1.75/2/2.25/2.5/2.75/3 scaling with her passive] seconds to silence struck enemies for 2 seconds and forces them to attack Leona for only a single basic attack.
Zenith Blade (E): Cooldown: 13/12/11/10/9 seconds; Cost: 60 mana; Range: 875 units
Leona sends a solar image of her sword in the target direction, dealing 60/100/140/180/220(+60%AP) magic damage to struck enemies it passes through and causing Leona to dash behind the last enemy champion struck.
The last enemy champion struck is rooted in place for 0.25 second.
Solar Flare (R): Cooldown: 120/90/60 seconds; Cost: 100 mana; Range: Global / 600 units
Leona summons a solar flare to the target allied champion or self after a 0.75 second delay, granting it Sun Armor for 3 seconds and all struck allies 30/50/70(+1.5%health)(+20%AP) bonus magic damage on hit. Struck enemies are dealt 200/275/350(+90%AP) magic damage and are slowed by 80% for 2 seconds.
P.S. Less immobilizing crowd control, no more defense steroids for crowd control that doubles as protection for her team and acts as a defensive steroid for herself through blinds and silences make her not gold reliant at all to do her job well and absorb damage. I also reduced her kill threat, but still very much reliant on having an ally near her for her power to really shine through, less kill potential and less immobilizing CC just means we can grant her power elsewhere.
