Champion Concept: Aralyis, The Weaving Marionette
FORE-NOTE: This champion was heavily inspired by some mechanics such as Fiora's passive marks and Orianna's ball, as well as something similar to Taliyah's thematic. (But hey if 3 hit passives are everywhere why cant we have more directional stuff and controlled mini creatures). Anyways, moving on:
Aralyis, The Weaving Marionette
Summary of Gameplay Style
Aralyis is a heavily control based utility mage that sacrifices early game strength for lategame crowd control, survivability and damage. She is an exceptionally difficult champion to play, with strong decision making, map awareness and positioning required as well as mechanical prowess in skillshots. She can be played top, mid or support and has various possible buildpaths and playstyles.
Abilities
Passive: An Eye for Detail Aralyis' keen eye for detail allows her to spot threading points on enemy champions. Threading Points (Lets call them marks for this) appear atop enemy champions near Aralyis. They are either vertical, horizontal, or diagonal ( / \ | ---- ). Marks last 8 seconds and refresh in different directions upon expiring.
Q: Weaving Aralyis' Q is a 3 part ability where she weaves a thread through any number of enemy champions, and can then use that thread in other abilities.
-
Q1 - Needlestrike - Mana cost: (50/55/60/65/70) Aralyis launches her needle in any direction, dealing (80/110/140/170/200 + 30/40/50/60/70% AP) in magic damage to the first target hit. If the needle strikes a mark and is fired from the angle the mark is slanted at (The needle must be fired straight forwards if the mark is vertical), it deals it's regular damage along with a bonus damage of (60/90/120/150/180 + 20/30/40/50/60% AP) in magic damage to the target hit. Aralyis' then gains access to her second Q ability and the needle remains where the target was when hit, and the target gains the debuff "Threaded". If the needle does not hit a mark, it goes on a cooldown of 7/6/5/4/3 seconds and does not provide access to Q2, and the needle returns to Aralyis. The "Threaded" debuff lasts until Q3 is used.
-
Q2 - Path of Threads - Mana cost: (30/35/40/45/50 Per Cast) Aralyis enters "Threading Eye", in which left clicking launches the needle from it's current position in any direction. This is considered a "cast" of Q2. If a "cast" of Path of Threads strikes a mark (This time only requiring that it hits the mark and not requiring that it was cast from the same direction), another "cast" becomes available. The number of "casts" available is limited by the level of Aralyis' ultimate (3/4/5). If Aralyis reaches the "cast" limit, does not "cast" for 5 seconds or misses a "cast", Q3 is automatically activated. Q3 can also be manually activated by pressing the Q button at any given time. Enemies struck by Path of Threads only take damage if struck on a mark, and take (80/110/140/170/200 + 30/40/50/60/70% AP) in magic damage. Enemies struck by Path of Threads also gain the "Threaded" debuff. While Aralyis is in "Threading Eye", she is slowed by 45%. The "Threaded" debuff lasts until Q3 is used.
-
Q3 - Tie the Knot - Mana cost: (0) Aralyis pulls the end of the string back to her and ties a knot. All targets afflicted with the "Threaded" debuff have the debuff refreshed to last another 8 seconds. Once Tie the Knot is cast, the full Q ability is placed on a 18/16/14/12/10 second cooldown and Aralyis gains a 15/20/25/30/35% movespeed buff.
W: Enchanted Strands - Mana cost: (0) Aralyis toggles between the 3 varieties of strand used in her performance, each with their own constant effect on "Threaded" targets. Maintaining Fine Thread or Barbed Wire costs Aralyis 5/10/15/20/25 mana per second. Toggling between strands has a cooldown of 3/2.5/2/1.5/1 seconds.
-
Twined String: Twined String has no effect on enemy champions
-
Fine Thread: Fine Thread causes allies who strike "Threaded" enemy champions to gain a 3/6/9/12/15% movespeed buff for 2 seconds. Allies who have gained a movespeed buff from Fine Thread in the last 6 seconds do not receive this effect.
-
Barbed Wire: Barbed Wire causes "Threaded" enemies who have been struck by any damaging ability from a champion to take 3/4/5/6/7% of that abilities damage as bonus bleed damage over the next 5 seconds. Enemies who have been affected by Barbed Wire in the past 13 seconds are not affected.
E: Unravel Aralyis unravels her cords from "Threaded" targets, with different effects depending on her current strand variety. Unravel operates on a separate cooldown system, meaning each strand variety has its own Unravel cooldown of 20/18/16/14/12 seconds, but the base cooldown of Unravel is 6/5/4/3/2 seconds. (If Aralyis casts Unravel with Barbed Wire, it goes on cooldown. If Aralyis then changes to Fine Thread, Unravel will be available if the base cooldown has passed. However, if Aralyis then returns to Barbed Wire, the separate cooldown of Barbed Wire will need to pass before Unravel with Barbed Wire can be cast). While the Unravel of a strand variety is on its separate cooldown, that strand variety's passive effect is not active.
-
Twined String: Aralyis twists her Twined String, releasing new spools of Barbed Wire and Fine Thread, resetting the separate cooldowns of Fine Thread and Barbed Wire's Unravel
-
Fine Thread: Aralyis jerks her Fine Thread out of "Threaded" champions, causing them to deal 5/8/11/14/17% reduced damage and dealing (25/50/75/100/125 + 20/30/40/50/60% AP) magic damage.
-
Barbed Wire: Aralyis rips her Barbed Wire from "Threaded" champions, dealing (50/100/150/200/250 + 20/30/40/50/60% AP) magic damage and slowing them by 10/15/20/25/30%. The slow diminishes over its 1.5 second duration.
AAAND THAT IS WHERE I STOP. I put this here because I have a need to finish this and I can't think of a good ultimate to top things off. This is my first champion concept and yes, the numbers are probably WAAAAY OFF but they're just there to give a feel for the scaling of the champion, and the high damage, high cooldowns, high risk nature of Aralyis. There is no lore yet or anything like that but I'm hoping to slowly update this over time with the new suggestions and my own ideas and maybe one day have something full.
