The Enlightened One - The Beginning

_This is the story of how Karma became the Enlightened One, the moment when Karma gained their blessing, gained their curse. For only she understands the truth of life and death, of pain and suffering, and she will always be called to keep them in balance. _

"You have bested me", spouted Boros. "You have learned what the death of a person truly means." Karma couldn't take her eyes off the general, who stumbled slowly, lifted by the field of turquoise fire that devoured him, but dragged down by the lifeless body that was slowly purged of his corrupted soul. The man's gaze was one of wonder, confusion and resolve. Death had been part of his life and he had been expecting it every single day. Yet now that he had fallen, he could not embrace it. Anger flashed across his face, consuming the last bit of energy left within him. Slower than a feather his mountain of a body approached the ground - in a moment that lasted ages. At least for Karma.

"Why?", asked Karma, trying to hold back tears. "Why me?" "No one else understands that the death of a person can mean the life to thousand others. The people of Ionia have forgotten. They think that preserving is the only means to protection. You, out of the thousands that came between, finally remember this ancient wisdom.", said the spiritdragon as he spiraled around her right hand, filling her heart with darkness and resolve. "But death is only one part", said Ouru. Her presence filled Karma with warmth and calm, even in between the bloody riot around her. "The death of an emperor can save thousands, but sparing the wrong child will doom millions." Ouro spiraled around Karma's left arm, upwards to her decorum. "Try it.", she said "You will understand"

Karma whirled around and for a moment, the fight around her continued at normal speed. But not for long. As soon as the spiritdragon called Boros extended from her hand towards her foe and struck him in an explosion of magical energy, time froze again. A searing pain burnt through Karma's heart, as the feelings of her foe's loved ones poured their suffering into her. She felt their weeping, their anger, their confusion, their despair. But at the same moment an outcry of happy families, reuniting with those meant to be slain, mended her heart's wounds and filled her with endless pleasure. As her enemy's body was annihilated, Boros dragged his soul through hers, purging him of all his wrongs and rights and tainting Karma's soul with it.

She stumbled. "Go on", whispered Ouru, "You are stronger than you think." Karma's face hardened. "This is our blessing", explained Ouru. "And our curse", reminded Boros.

Karma extended her hand again, this time Ouru sprang forth, whirling around her left hand towards a friend. As soon as cold metal struck the bright and shimmering shield. Karma's head was filled with all of her friends sins she would eventually commit, but also the good times she would have one day. Every time from this day on, when Karma used her powers, the souls would teach her, whether friend or foe, what their destruction could mean and what their salvation would bring. This is why they call her the Enlightened One, the Keeper of Balance, for she is the only one who truly understands to this day, the tuth about your life. And death.

PS: If you enjoy this short story you probably also like my related Twin Dragon Karma rework. It was the basis for this story and explains why I changed this significant part of her backstory to a - as I perceive - more fulfilling one.

But please, let me know what you think!

I wish I could write this well xD

Why thank you ^_^!

What would you do with it, btw?

Do you mean what would I do with such a talent or the lore you wrote?

To be honest, while this isn't as long as flavor texts or biography's Riot creates, this is something I could believe to be Riot quality.

With the ability to _"write this well" _^^

I am very curious where exactly it would drive others, because I use it for vastly different things, even if none of them are money related.

Oh, well theres a few things that tie together.

I honestly believe the boards has helped my skills in writing. Not only did it help me see how and try to deliver ideas, but I learned about how important things like formatting, wording, etc. is. While alot of people on the boards developed these type of skills already, I've gone from lacking champion concepts, with poor grammar and formatting to developed, appreciated, and well formatted champion concepts.

I rarely would pay attention to things like patch notes, PBE, Rioter posts, and other official posts until I went on the boards. The boards to be honest opened up opportunity to learn about League and express my ideas.

So back to your question, I like lore alot and I'm no Sharjo but stories in general are my cup of tea. One of my "dream-jobs" has been to be an author. I've brain stormed my own worlds and stories. Overall, I think its awsome to be able to create such cool events. Even if you can't live in somwhere like Hogwarts or the Marvel universe, you can do the next best thing with stories and art.

Even just writing for myself would be awesome. In 6-7th grade my dad introduced me and my twin brother to D&D, and while it didn't stick, it left a mark in me. We would create our own adventures, and characters, and stories in general. Writing has no limits, literally, and I think in general it helps people develop their minds. I had a few more reasons, but I'm little off right now.

That's quite the improvement there with your suggestions! Brevity is probably something you want to master next. It's something I currently struggle with too.

I too have enjoyed learning those things from the forums. Respecting others, collecting opinions, changing views (my own and others) in a healthy way, adressing issues, being precise but resourceful,.... training these things has also improved other parts of my life. So I can strongly relate.

Only recently have I picked up DnD and I took the part of a GM in 3 games so far. I hope it helps me learn to create worlds and longer stories so I can finally get to doing some books myself. So far it feels like it.

Those are beautiful ways of thinking about writing. I will steal and treasure those thoughts :)

This is very well written, do you do a lot of creative writing in your spare time?

SilverSquid1 votes

It depends.

I have always....written stories, as far as I can remember. When I was 6 years old I started creating stories for my older brother's fantasy characters to live through. Essentially we used to play DnD without dice.

I never stopped writing stories in my mind, I just started writing them down a few years ago, when I realized others enjoyed them too. So far I write stories for special occasions, write texts of consolation and consultation, write different endings to movies as I watch them, write some poems to participate in poetry slams (I'm not a great poet tho), or try to use my word proficiency to create good suggestion posts on various forums :3....

Never done a book or sth tho. Or much in English, for that matter.
