Rework concept: Galio the Sentinels Sorrow.

It's no secret that galios kit lacks cohesiveness, identity and doesn't fit him thematically. He has a mage spell (Q), a bruiser spell (W), a support spell (E) and one that could comprise of all 3 categories (R). With such a jumbled mess of a kit, a targeted class thematic must be chosen.

Personally I chose a melee bruiser as we have plenty of beefy supports and enough mages to choke a 6 stack cho gath. In order to achieve this several things need to happen

  1. His identity as an anti mage must be emphasized.
  2. His support spell has to go, and a better suited spell needs to replace it.
  3. His kit has to fit his lore and his gargoyle thematic.
  4. A well rounded kit with a more even distribution of damage (not 49% in q, 50% in r and 1% in e)
  5. Keep him fun and interesting with as few gimmicks as possible.

His passive, q and e changes are motivated by his gargoyle thematic and role as a "protector" in the wake of his masters death (he's an angry gargoyle with one purpose)

Passive: Runic radiance. Galio gains AP equivalent to 50% of his total MR, nearby minions gain MR equivalent to 5%/20%/35%/50% of galios MR at levels 1/6/11/16. Explanation: Gives him more lane presence and is emphasis of him being a protector.

Q: Sentinels assault: Galio ascends (first cast), gaining momentum as he does so. (Second cast) Galio dives in a targeted direction, damaging and taking any enemies he collides with along for the ride. Upon reaching max range (dictated by how long you channel) galio rears up and smashes the ground, damaging and slowing enemies in an area around him Explanation: This is a charge spell similar to zacs elastic slingshot. It acts as a reliable gap closer and cc spell. Enemies are damaged upon impact and during the final slam (can be qss, fashed and has an obvious charge animation)

W: Bulwark: Practically the same spell. However on self cast, applies a 1/4 strength bulwark to ally minions already affected by Runic radiance. Just like before, galio is healed when bulwarked entities take damage (this is reduced to 1/8th or 1/6th effectiveness from minions) Explanation: now it's not only a threat to dot mages, but also to aoe wave clearers who want to endlessly shove.

E: Golems rage: Works like rumble E. Galio smashes the ground at the thought of his dead master, releasing a shockwave in a line that damages enemies and briefly silences enemy champions. If a second E lands before the silence ends, the duration is refreshed and doubled. Explanation: it will be a thin, fast and short ranged skill shot with a 2 charge system. The duration on the first silence will be 1 second or less depending on the speed of the skill shot (as a second one needs to be landable before it ends) NOTE: it's only a silence cos anti mage, if people feel it's too much it can be changed into a slow

R: Idol of Durand: works the same as before but with an addition. Initiates a channel duration and taunts enemies in an area around galio, dealing damage based on the damage he takes after the channel ends. NEW: Can now taunt towers, baron/rift herald and dragon Explanation: simply adds a risk to reward decision as this would accelerate the dmg ramp up but put him in a vulnerable position or at lower hp after the ult ends.

What ya'll think?

i would love to see something like this happen to galio, such a cool champion with so much wasted potential

Hm...

Carfeull with the minion roids. IMO:

P: Free minion roids combined with item 3512 and item 3060 can shut any mage lane. Q: It would work better as his R .... replacing the Smash with the IOD effect. Remember, if Galio it's not a permapick/ban it's just cause he don't have an inbuild Flash W: Promote too safe/passive play ... Use W > go back > Wait for the health to come back on minion trade E: Like this one ... the silence seems odd but the skill it's cool R: Like this change too ... it would be cool to not have random tower aggro once in a while

His current W, E, and R are all support spells. Galio is supposed to be a supportive mage by design and nature.

On the kit itself: I think Q and E's methods of doing damage are too similar. One aoe smash is enough (Q one seems cooler and fits more since Galio isn't actually enraged still at his master's death.)

Stuff that makes me sad: All of his ranged abilities are gone and his gargoyle tie in to wind magic is gone too :( I also don't think mid-lane anymore with the above kit, so he won't end up facing many mages... Galio needs a wave clear spell if he's gonna mid/face mages.
