Cerulius, the Red Hunter

NOTE Appearance is heavily inspired by Vincent Valentine from Final Fantasy.


**Lore: ** The world is full of dastardly individuals, and those individuals normally have quite the bounty on their head. Be it because of treason, counterfeiting, or just an old grudge... they're worth a bit of gold. To bring in these bounties, countless bounty hunters pursue these people in hopes of claiming their just reward, however, none are quite as daring, nor deadly, as Cerulius. Cerulius takes on the bounties that others are unwilling to take, mostly infamous criminals, dangerous warriors, or even high ranking officials. Nonetheless, Cerulius guarantees a 100% success rate to his clients.

He wields dual pistols, which are collectively called "The Chimera Pistols" because one pistol bares the head of a lion, and the other, the head of a goat. He wears a tattered red* cloak so that red is the last thing his victims see.

Nobody is as deadly, nor stylish as the Red Hunter himself.

ROLE: ADC Auto Attack Range: 550

Passive: Loaded Chamber Cerulius has 6 rounds to expend from his gun through basic abilities and attacks until he has to reload. These rounds cause a portion of the damage of whatever attack was used to expend the round to turn into true damage.

Reload Time: 4 seconds (reduced by 1% per every 2% attack speed) True Damage Scaling: 1%/2.5%/5% of an attack's total damage

Visual Notes Cerulius will have a special bar indicating how much ammo he has. Whenever a round is expended, you should see a cartridge fall out of his gun.


Q: Chimera Pistols Cerulius pulls out his other pistol, and for a short duration, is able to cast "Snake Shot".

Cost: 100 Mana Cooldown(after expending all "Snake Shot" casts): 15 seconds Duration: 3 seconds

Snake Shot Cerulius fires a narrow, but fast, skill shot that damages the first enemy hit. If Cerulius hits an enemy, he may cast "Snake Shot" again, and again, as long as he keeps landing it. This can be cast while moving, applies on-hit effects, and can critically strike for additional damage. "Snake Shot" must be cast within 3 seconds of each other, or else it is put on cooldown.

Cost: 1 Bullet from "Loaded Chamber" Range: 600 units Damage 80%/95%/100%/105%/110% of total AD w/Crit Damage: 160%/190%/200%/210%/220% of total AD

NOTE You can use all other abilities while this is active Being hard cc'd will put this ability on cooldown

Visual Notes Cerulius hides his pistol under his red cloak. When "Chimera Pistols" is activated, Cerulius will dramatically reveal his remaining pistol and flashing his red cloak behind him. He will then appear with both pistols in hand while the ability is active. With each shot, Cerulius alternates between his pistols.


W: Side-Step Cerulius dashes in target direction. Expending rounds from "Loaded Chamber" reduces the cooldown of this ability by 1 second. Can be used during "Chimera Pistols".

Cost: 35 mana Range: 450 units Cooldown: 10 seconds

Visual Notes The red cloak should follow the sort of snake pattern that Aurelion Sol's body follows. It's sort of left behind and follows Cerulius around.


E: Dirty Bullet Cerulius' next shot will be filled with a viscous fluid, and when fired, will splatter on the target and those in a small cone behind it, slowing them. If a target that is covered by the fluid is hit by Cerulius, they will be ignited, dealing a percentage of their maximum health over 3 seconds. Can be cast in conjunction with a "Snake Shot" to instantly trigger the burn and slow for the cost of 2 bullets.

Cost: 1 Bullet from "Loaded Chamber" and 50/55/60/65/70 mana Cooldown: 10 seconds at all ranks Slow:_10%/15%/20%/25%/30% Slow Duration:_1/1.25/1.5/1.75/2 seconds Ignited Damage:_5%/7%/8%/9%/10% of maximum health

Visual Notes The fluid is black, and when splattered, causes enemies to appeared oil stained to indicate that they can be ignited. The fluid will visually wear off to indicate the amount of time remaining of the slow and time left to ignite. The bullet fired from this ability will visually appear different, perhaps appearing black and leaving behind a trail of black smoke.


R: Lock and Load Cerulius will instantly reload, filling his ammo to 6 and resetting all of his basic cooldowns. Also, killing enemies will grant Cerulius with another bullet.

Cost: 50 mana Cooldown: 40/30/20 seconds

Visual Notes Cerulius will spin his guns around to indicate the use of this ability.


DESIGN INSIGHT I really wanted to create an ADC caster who felt really badass. I took inspiration from Vincent Valentine because he was always a character who was overly badass and fit the role of ADC.

Passive: Loaded Chamber I really love the idea of ammunition in the more recent champions. It adds a level of strategic play and a way to make the champion more unique. I decided to make use of the ammunition by making his attacking ability cost a bullet. This would make it more realistic while adding a level of difficulty to his gameplay. Careful management of your rounds will be necessary for mastering Cerulius.

Q: Chimera Pistols/ Snake Shot You may not have noticed this, but I based his pistols around a Chimera. The two heads (lion and goat) being the pistols, and the bullets being the snake (tail). Since Valentine's pistol was called "Cerberus" after the 3 headed dog, I felt that Cerulius should have weapons named after a mythical creature as well.

This is Cerulius' main source of damage! It is supposed to replace his auto-attacks and shift his playstyle to an AD caster. Firing this in quick succession (with great accuracy) will definitely deal more damage than his own basic attacks and will allow Cerulius to focus on building PURE AD in order to deal a great amount of damage. I say this because if you pull this off in quick succession, then you can surpass the average attack speed of a normal ADC, and also deal more damage per shot. The only difficulty is landing them in succession and staying in a position where you won't be stunned.

The combo you should pull off is obviously a "Dirty Bullet" into a "Snake Shot" so that you're guaranteed a slow from a basic attack, and so that you can more easily land "Snake Shots" and trigger the burn. However, if you're in a jiffy and really need to get it off quickly, then you can combo it with the "Snake Shot", just make sure you land it!

W: Side-Step Pretty basic ability, it gives you the maneuverability that can make or break a good Cerulius player. This ability should be used to kite and avoid damage while using "Chimera Pistols".

E: Dirty Bullet This ability was sort already covered in the first bit of my design insights. However, I'll go over it. This is supposed to be Cerulius' utility tool to set up for his "Snake Shots". However, it can be used in many other ways. You can use it to break down a tank with the burn damage, slow enemies approaching you so that you can kite, and even use the burn to finish off a target.

R: Lock and Load This is sort of a small ultimate, but it plays a major role in Cerulius' combo. By using this, Cerulius can extend his attack combo to deal 2x the amount of damage from his normal combo. Or, he can use this to bait out the enemy by making them think he is out of bullets, but then turn and kill them. There are so many uses for this ability and will determine a bad Cerulius player from a good one.

Essentially, Cerulius can burst someone down really quick if they get off a full combo, but is left without any damage afterwards.

It feels a bit like he is just repeated abilities from other adcs put into his kit. (Snake shot = Jinx zap, Side-step = Relentless pursuit, and Chimera pistols = piercing light) I dont really see a place for him as a new groundbreaking adc and everything seems like you just took it from other adcs, but as far as everything else goes great job!

I'm a bit short on time right now, but after reading your champion, Ill say that I like it, but it lacks something that sets it apart, I've got an idea from the sugestion you gave me about Desmans

Passive

The reload is ok, but the true damage... well, corki had the same and it was ditched by riot, it could work on Cerulius, but i'm not sure about it

E: Dirty bullet

Being snake shot the skill to go with this one, but being limited to first target hit, i would make this skill a bit special

(Enemy units affected by Dirty bullet will stain clean enemy units that come into contact with them while the tar lasts, also, the fire that one of them caught will be passed by conectact with stained enemies too)

This should add some synergy with other champions, like brand, annie or aurelion sol, and will make your e matter more for those teams that poke and cower behind the turret

R: Lock and Load

The same reason why I didn't set masquerade as ultimate, this lacks the grandiose that a ultimate needs, i would change it a bit.

R: Cerulean Sharpshooter (Cerulius-Cerulean)

When activating this skill, a lion roar will be heard and Cerulius eyes will start shining with a blue colour, leaving trails as he moves (Like enraged Nargakuga) In a 100 range around him, all enemy units will be feared for 1 second (For pesky assassin dives)

After this fear effect, Cerulius will instantly reload with special bullets, all 6 bullets will be Dirty Bullets that will stain only the first enemy hit by them

The last bullet will be marked by a snake hiss coming from Cerulius, and it will fear the enemy unit hit by it for 1 second

With this Cerulius should be set apart enough from any other adc, while also covering for a worthy ult

About the story... well, i just though all of this, but if chimeras are made of magic, why don't you make Cerulius a man that was used to experiment what originally gave twisted fate his magic powers in the old lore? but instead of going allright, he was deemed a failure and left to die.

Later he would become a bounty hunting that hates people that use magic for a bad end, that would also explain the roars, and the blue shine in his eyes when using the ult I suggested
