Riot - Program Nami and LeBlanc need to have some design modifications. They're too weird.

Let's start with Nami. I love Nami, and I get that she's a fish. But this is one skin line where "fish" doesn't work at all. She's supposed to be an AI of sorts, so having a mermaid AI is just super bizarre. You changed her "hair fins" to be a mass of cables, so do something like that to her tail. It's completely jarring for this skin line to have her have a fish tail, and it's bringing back memories of the awkward and weird Sewn Chaos Blitzcrank that was cancelled. Please do something to bring her out of the fishbowl and into the mainframe.

Then there's LeBlanc. To be honest, that entire skin is a bit of a mess. The cape, the collar, the weird, hologram head on a robot body. Overall, this skin looks bad, and again, as it sits, doesn't fit the skin line's aesthetic. There aren't capes or collars like that in any of the other Program skins. Camille's coattails were turned into computer ribbons, and that worked. This cape and collar? They don't work at all. Replace them with something else, or remove them, like you did in her Wicked skin. Then fix the head so it's not so strange.

Overall, I applaud the skin line, and applaud your attempts to expand it, but you have to keep consistent design throughout the line, and the aesthetic is composed of so much more than the white panels and green energy. Please fix these skins and bring them in line with the other Program skins and the skinverse they belong to. Don't launch them as they are, I beg you.

Personally, I love the Nami skin, I think it looks amazing, especially because it's a mermaid AI. I do agree with you on LeBlanc though, that skin is just awful, just bloody awful.

I actually think the two of them could look awesome in this skinline (Nami in particular could be cool aesthetically, although there's some overlap with Soraka in purpose), but I agree that they look too much like the base champion where it doesn't fit the skin. Good feedback.

Honestly, i feel like Nami is one of those champions that under no circumstances would fit a Program skin line.

LeBlanc i can see that happening given she relies on illusions and in the computer world, i'm sure outsmarting via hacking and stuff is possible or creating artificial decoys.

But that's not the way to do it imo.

I think they probably consciously decided to keep these features because it is part of the champion's identifier's. When you design a character in a game, they must be automatically distinguishable from any other character, even by just their silhouette. The player must be able to know, without thinking about it, who the champion is...ideally anyway.

Too many robotic skins.

Please riot, fix nami's hair! It makes no sense with the skin. The colors are off, it's flying everywhere and makes her look hideous. She doesn't need cable hair that thick. Thin wires would make more sense and look better. Please reconsider what you have done to my favorite fish.

I think they are very cool and am going to buy the nami one just difference in opinion I guess.

"You have to keep consistent design through the line." Why? They aren't the same champions why do they have to be so similar?

I don't like Nami with cyber dread locks :( ! I wish her hair had been made holographic like her tail :'(

Q and W animations are just flat out underwhelming. The W could have much more shards and things bursting when casted. The Q explosion needs to be better. The only thing im okay with is the E, not bad.

Riot does that often. It almost feels like every skin, regardless of what """line""" it's in, is its own aesthetic entity. Despite the obvious upsides to sticking ONE skinline to ONE identity (COUGH COUGH WHAT HAPPENED TO HIGH NOON COUGH) they avoid it like the plague. I mean, look at the two other skins released this cycle; Preatorian(?) Fiddlesticks and Graves. Fiddlestick's Preatorian aesthetic is a horror-esue, half-machine half-organic mega-predator creature. The effects and sounds on his Q and W are genuinely creepy and fit the aesthetic mentioned above perfectly.

Preatorian Graves, though...? Is just... Victorious Graves with a box shaped head and Project effects. Who fucking knows

Both skins look like trash and the new mech graves skin doesnt even resemble graves. Literally just spewing random bullshit skins

The Program line has the issue of having some of the COOLEST Vfx and Sound fx in the game (code and technology aesthetic + shattering glass? Yes please!) But having really janky models.

They always end up as these yellowy white with a mix of cabling, metal plating and the most SATURATED GREEN EVER models. Add on top the floating/disjointed limbs that don't work on a lot of the older rigs (soraka and Lb stand out as looking off) that they just come out looking super messy and whack.

I think they'd suit better if they stuck to a more minimalist 'utopian' aesthetic like Transistor

This belongs in Story, Art, & Sound.

Nami could be like SHODAN, for example. I totally agree for the wired tail

Terozu10/25/2018, 10:57:29 AM1 votes

Yes because having a Unicorn Furry AI makes perfect sense.
