LORE http://www.artofmtg.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/Niv-Mizzet-Dracogenius-MtG-Art-1024x827.jpg Art by Todd Lockwood Within the City of Progress, also known as Piltover, there is a council of various minds that relatively secretly govern the many trade deals and inventions within Piltover. While many within this council use such a position as a seat of power to control the city, the lone dragon within the council known as Shivrix uses his seat within the council for the good of the city by making sure nothing that could potentially spark war with other nations is let loose into the public. It was through Shivrix's manipulations that Caitlyn came to be the sheriff of the city, and it was through Shivrix's manipulations that the many powers within Zaun have not risen out of the depths to destroy Piltover. When many see a dragon in Runeterra, they see a creature capable of mass destruction that wants nothing but to horde gold and riches to itself. However, Shivrix overcame his instincts and became the dragon he is today thanks to the founders of Piltover finding his dying body within the wilds outside of Piltover. Originally born within the hills surrounding Demacia, Shivrix's true power was long suppressed by the anti-magic material housed in many of Demacia's structures and weapons. Due to this suppression of power, Shivrix was easily hunted down and nearly killed by a skilled Demacian dragon hunter that sought his skull for reasons simply to boost his own ego and fame. Shivrix was far too young and powerless to fight back, and was only able to escape the hunter by the mere chance due to an intense storm brewing on the horizon. The mighty dragon was eventually forced to land due to an incredibly high amount of blood loss and was found by one of the first citizens of Piltover. Where many would have screamed and ran, the inventor saw a child, struggling and begging for help and purpose. On the spot, the inventor used what knowledge he had of dragon anatomy and hextech magic to mend Sivrix's wounds. His injuries included a shattered rib cage and a poison that had completely destroyed the insides of his wings, making him unable to fly. By creating a metallic skeleton for Shivrix's chest and wings as well as bandaging the wounds he had sustained, Shivrix survived the nearly fatal encounter and was allowed entrance into Piltover. There, he learned his true purpose in this world and accumulated knowledge that would eventually grow to surpass any inventor who set foot into Piltover. While Shivrix was not a founder of the council, he was a part of it's second generation and began nurturing Piltover in it's early days. As he learned many lessons from his successes and failures, he grew wise beyond his years and more intelligent than any other member of the council. Despite all this, he did not wish to use his power to exact revenge on Demacia or gain power in this world. Shivrix was fascinated by the potential for hextech magic when combined with the various artifacts and materials scattered throughout the world, and he instead chose to use his power to not just advance his own knowledge of the craft; he also used his knowledge to create the many generations of inventors that were to bloom in Piltover. Unknown to the city itself, Shivrix was essentially the Father of Modern Hextech, but to the council he was simply known as the Arch-Engineer of Gadgets due to his habit of tinkering in his spare time and studying the smaller crafts of inventors. These smaller crafts were mere gadgets to the untrained eye, but Shivrix knew that even the smallest creations could eventually lead to large breakthroughs in the study of hextech. In recent years, Shivrix has entered his prime as far as when dragons usually become their most innately powerful. Others within the council have noticed this as Shivrix has begun to interact with the city more and more, as well as invent more and more outstanding creations. While the citizens of Piltover have prospered from this increase in activity, the other members of the council have seen this as an attempt to dethrone them from their seat of power by overshadowing them. As the other council members plot, Shivrix merely relaxes on his self-made bed within the tallest tower in Piltover. He knows of the activities of the other council members from his own connections and does not worry, having dealt with such threats countless times in the past. However, he knows that there is great risk in revealing himself to the public due to the typical reaction that humans have to dragons. Therefore, he hides within his tower and tinkers with the mounds of small gadgets and inventions he has hoarded. He knows that, eventually, a situation will arise when he must reveal his presence and history to the public of Piltover. However, until then, he waits patiently, making sure Piltover evades harm at every turn.

A Meeting of Great Minds

Shivrix awaited the human's arrival, lounging on his bed as his robotic creations made sure no one could enter his lair without his knowledge and approval. When the sheriff entered the room, it was clear she had not expected such a being to rest within the tallest tower in Piltover. She pointed her rifle up at the dragon, ready to shoot. However, she slowly lowered the weapon as Shivrix spoke. "My dear, there is no need for such actions. To you, I am known as Xirvihs, one of the richest officials within Piltover. In truth, my name is actually Shivrix, a dragon known throughout Demacia as "The One Who Flees". Funny little stab that is, as I could likely make the entire kingdom of Demacia burn from this seat right here." Caitlyn, speechless at the dragon speaking human language in front of her, thought over what had just been said to her. Shivrix let out a brief chuckle. "Of course, that is not what I plan to do at all. That is not why I have brought you here. I have brought you here to, one, reveal to you who I really am and, two, make sure I wasn't mistaken when I made sure you got the job as sheriff." Caitlyn slowly recovered from the initial surprise of the previous revelation and replied. "What do you mean you gave me my job? And why would you be mistaken in doing so?" Shivrix shifted slightly in his bed, making himself a little more comfortable before speaking again. The central light that lit the room from above had begun to grow dim as a great storm had gripped Piltover for the past few days and the light's solar energy reserves had begun to become depleted. "You see, I have lived within this tower for decades upon decades, and I have manipulated events all during that time to make sure Piltover has evaded as much destruction as I possibly could make it evade. However, there is a recent threat that seems to be making a mess of our beautiful city and all of it's wonderful inhabitants. I think you know who I speak of. That girl with the blue hair that seems to always evade your traps and outsmarts you at every turn. How long has she been allowed to walk through our streets now?" Caitlyn became slightly annoyed at this jab at her skill and capability. She had only known this dragon for a minute and she already hated him. "We are working as hard as we can to catch..." "But you haven't have you. Many lives have been lost now and she still roams our alleyways!" Shivrix shook his head before beginning again. He was frustrated, but he had to be understanding or else this sheriff would likely reveal him from her own anger. "Let me start again. I am Shivrix and I have protected this city for generations. I do not reveal myself to the public because, if I did, I would likely be killed. However, if I was killed, people like you would never be hired and the the other men in power would probably hire corrupt officials to control this wonderful city. I was the one hired you as sheriff of the city, but I simply wish to confirm that you have the situation under control." Caitlyn shook her head. "If that was all you had to ask, you would not have called me here. You would have simply messaged me and not revealed who you are." Shivrix smiled. "Yes, that is why I hired you. Smart. Clever. You can see through the lies. I like that. I have revealed myself to you because, to keep it short, I wish to have a closer connection to the city than I currently have. You see, rumors have begun to spread around the world. Noxus, Demacia, Ionia, Shurima, even the illusive Mount Targon... they all have become much more active recently. Something his about to happen in this world and, when it does, I need to be able to take more direct action. Perhaps I will need to reveal myself, but I wish I will not need to. I have called you here to ask of you to be my hand in the world. I ask of you to be my voice, my eyes, my claws... everything. Then, when the time comes, I want you to make sure the city I have nurtured since it was young does not murder it's own caretaker." Caitlyn shook her head once again. "Then why do you doubt my capabilities if you wish this of me?" Shivrix ushered the robot beside him to bring him one of his various toys that he used to entertain himself before speaking again. "Because I want to make sure I am making the right decision by choosing you." Caitlyn thought for a bit. She wanted to ask so many more questions, but she would rather plan out exactly how to approach this dragon and ask him such questions at calmer time. "You are." "Good." The door behind Caitlyn opened as a robot walked into the room and motioned for her to leave. "You may return anytime you like, but come alone. I can see you have much on your mind, and I believe you want to have some time to think before speaking to me again. Do think hard. Think as hard as you can. Thinkers are what drives this city. Thinkers are what leads to the future. Without thinkers, we would be no better than any of the other nations that fight amongst each other. Remember this when you think: I am not your enemy, sheriff." Caitlyn exited the room, soaking in what she had just learned. "I'll be the judge of that," she thought to herself.

Active: Shivrix's next Brainstorm will deal an additional 2/2.5/3% (+1% per 100 AP) of each enemy's current health every 0.5 seconds and will reset his item active cool downs. This ability can be reactivated to cancel this effect, setting this ability's cool down to 5 seconds and refunding 50% of it's mana cost. Cost: 100/150/200 mana Cool Down: 100/60/20 seconds

GAMEPLAY PHILOSOPHY Shivrix is different from other champions in that his main way to interact with the enemy team is commonly through his items rather than his actual abilities. His abilities alone are actually rather lackluster. Brainstorm provides some fairly mediocre AoE damage and mana regeneration, but roots Shivrix for the duration. Trinket Drone is moderately useful with's long duration vision and, if it comes to it, on demand stun, but does not deal any damage and can be cleared fairly easily, often times being destroyed before it can live for it's full duration. Wings of Metal is a nice peel tool so that Shivrix can protect himself in the early game and his allies later on while also providing decent mobility, but it has a short channel time that allows his enemies to completely negate the ability if they react in time. Essentially, Shivrix's main strengths come from his Passive and Ultimate, meaning it's quite obvious at what points in the game he will be weak and strong. When you are playing Shivrix, it is important to buy the correct items for the correct situation. While there are a few items that you will obviously want to buy for their active in majority of situations, such as Zhonya's Hourglass, Redemption, and at least one Hextech item, others are often more situational. Need extra defenses? It might be good to invest in an Archangel's Staff and/or Locket of the Iron Solari for the powerful shields. Need more vision or maybe some extra crowd control? Frost Queen's Claim is a nice choice for such. Need some extra pushing power? Zz'Rot Portal and/or Banner of Command are some very nice options, although be warned that, due to Shivrix's passive, you can only have one Zz'Rot Portal active at one time to prevent some massive shenanigans. The point is that planning ahead is useful as Shivrix so that you are always building the item with the active that will benefit you most. It's probably not too smart to get into a set build every game and follow it exactly.

So... are you saying he can have a perma redemption off cooldown? I don't think that's wise. Otherwise I like the concept.

An odd concept for sure. A dragon who rules over Piltover of all places and is an expert engineer is a...peculiar story. Gameplay-wise, his abilities seem kind of scattered and don't seem to have that much power attached to them.

However, I do like the concept. A Champion that focuses on active items is definitely a unique and interesting playstyle. I would like to see a similar Champion implemented into the game some day.

Niv-Mizzet Dracogenius has far better things to do than arse about in league

He has to prepare for whatever Ral Zarek is going to throw at him

Joking aside you have literally taken concept from magic the gathering, revamp the lore and then maybe you have a chance

Alright, I have some tweaks and compliments.

  1. I like the lore and artwork.
  2. I enjoyed the character's abilities.

My tweaks aren't numbered because it is just a couple of sentences.

I feel like the champion is good, but the concept is trying to do more than I think makes sense.

Passive - Reduced Item CDR w/conditions. Something I want to remind you of, with the upcoming rune changes there would be more than one way of getting those already pretty short item CDRs even lower.

Q - This doesn't sound like something that should be on a support character, namely how the character gets rooted in place. I think this because, by the wording, the character cannot undo the rooting. Which, just sounds like this champion would be easy to move around and dive bomb the ADC. A champion that would be dance, quite literally, around this concept is Rakan.

W - This feels very similar to Kalista's ghosts that she can call out. Granted, that she cannot stun enemies with them. I think they give gold as well. It is very similar, but with aspects of it that differentiate it from Kalista, which is okay.

E - This just feels awkward. The concept has a lot of channels / immobility, which can hinder your ADC if the enemy team can move faster than this character can act. Also, his abilities seem very easily counter-able. This is because of the channels. Also, can he cast this while rooted by his Q or Ability 1?

R - I read his passive and thought it was interesting. But, I do have something I don't like. You said that he could reset his ability cooldowns with his active of the ultimate, yet he can re-activate the ability can cancel the ability, which would lower the cooldown down to 5 seconds. This could be very spam-able. If this character got a item 3107, he just needs to ult, cancel, and he has a working Redemption again. Honestly, the R just seems like a way to spam items and empower his Q. Do you see what I mean?

I am not trying to sound rude or anything. If I did come across as harsh, please let me know. I would hate to be thought of has rude. Additionally, the idea is good, but it has some twerks, like all ideas. The lore, again, is brilliant. The concept is where things get weird. My understanding is that this is some mechanical dragon, but he doesn't really have that feel to me.
