LORE For all of history on Runeterra, there has always been conflict between two sides. However, the very first conflict is the most historic of them all, beginning the age old conflict that spans even to this day: Demacia against Noxus. These nations were not always named such, but their respective regions have always had opposing leaders that, eventually, would bring war to the other. There was, once, a time of peace between these two lands. This was under the rule of Regium Dux, a dragon that had lived on Runeterra for centuries upon centuries without end. Under his rule of the territory that is now known as Demacia, Regium Dux allowed peace to prosper between his kind and the humans to the east, a territory now known as Noxus. It was a time dragon kind would remember as The Time Before the Barbarian. https://media.wizards.com/2018/images/daily/c4rd4r7_DqeuhhOJIY.jpg Art by Even Amundsen However, this peace was broken when an unholy barbarian in the east began ravaging the land, causing conflict wherever he went. The humans to the east begged Regium Dux for help, but the dragon king would not allow his people to come to harm. Eventually, the east became under the leadership of the barbarian, and the brute built a stronghold so impenetrable and intimidating that it was given the name The Immortal Bastion. However, the east was not enough for the barbarian known as Mordekaiser. The barbarian prepared for war, building several war machines that would allow for a dragon to be killed with ease. His mace was enchanted with magic that allowed the entrapment of a very specific kind of soul: a dragon soul. With this power, Mordekaiser announced that he would invade the west when he slaughtered one of Regium Dux's kin and sent their soul to engage in combat with the king himself. After a long struggle, Regium overcame his fallen brother, but not without seeing the horror that Mordekaiser was going to unleash. Regium Dux used the one kind of magic he knew best to quickly prepare for Mordekaiser's invasion, being geomancy. By raising large walls of the most durable metals and enchanting them with magic known only to him and his closest advisers, Regium Dux successfully stalled Mordekaiser long enough to form his own plan. Eventually, Mordekaiser's own assistants were able to study the magic enchanting the walls and dispel the protection. With a blast of dark magic, Mordekaiser shattered through the walls built by Regium and began to slaughter the dragons hiding within. The dragons turned for assistance from Regium's inner wall where the might of the dragon military was located, but found their cries unanswered. In truth, Regium and the upper class of dragons had cast a power spell that caused them to phase out of existence for an unrecorded number of years. In a state between realities now, Regium and dragonkind awaited the day their spell would complete and unleash them back upon a world that had conquered this barbarian that planned to end all life. Many years passed and Regium was forgotten from history. Then, one day above Demacia, a mighty storm began to form. Many worried a hurricane was bearing down upon them, but that was not the case. It was something far, far different than a storm. Suddenly, a portal opened in the sky, and an army of dragons poured down from it, being lead by Regium and his fellow advisers. The people of Demacia screamed in horror as they thought the end had come, but the armies of Demacia quickly met with the foe. The army was surprised when the dragons began to speak their language and were wearing what seemed to be regal attire. Regium spoke with a calm and collected voice that soothed the minds of the Demacian army as the storm overhead disappeared as quickly as it had formed, revealing the sun once more. The blinding light that glowed from Regium's scales made some in the army believe they had found a god given form. However, the elites still questioned Regium's offer of peace and made their own decision. With a mighty shout, the elites of Demacia unleashed a hail of arrows at the dragons, inflicting minimal damage. Regium was outraged that humans seemed to have not changed from when Mordekaiser had ruled, simply acting the same but in different clothing. He easily discarded of the army before him by causing the ground beneath the soldiers to roil as if it was liquid. The few who were not eaten alive by the earth were crushed under claw by Regium's fellow dragons. Flying away into the hills, Regium, within a matter of days, constructed a mighty bastion. Regium found that the wyverns near Demacia were related to his kind, but not entirely the same. He offered them a bastion from the humans who hunted them down. The more feral of the wyverns refused and retreated to their caves. The more reasonable, however, asked that Regium teach them his power and shelter them from extinction. All who accepted Regium's offer were given protection. All who did not were dispatched of quickly once they became an issue. Newly breathed into this world, Regium began to study what had happened since his disappearance. He locked himself away in his studies while his two best friends and servants, Mutare Servus and Sciens Omnis, scoured the new world for knowledge and books to bring him. Demacians found that Regium's fortress was impenetrable due to it's high walls and the skies above being protected by dragons. They quickly found that digging did not work, as Regium's warding allowed for constant knowledge of what was beneath the castle. Regium quickly discovered that the world had not changed much since he was gone. War was still a looming threat, and peace had not been accomplished for a very long time. With this in mind, Regium began his quest to bring peace to the land, whether it be by pen or claw.

GAMEPLAY PHILOSOPHY Regium Dux is a powerful warden that provides his teams with literal walls to hide behind. By setting up station somewhere on the map, Regium Dux can create bastions for his team to fight in that will give them a significant advantage against most enemies, whether they be mobile assassins or long range marksman and mages. During the laning phase, it is best to bring Regium into the Bottom Lane where he can support his team's bottom lane carry. Early game, his walls are rather frail and will fall easily if focused down by the enemy. Therefore, it is best to make use of Roil the Earth's poke damage and grounding effect to wither the enemy down and protect your team's carry from mobile Junglers. However, once the mid-game comes around, Sky Walls become a very strong barrier between Regium's team and their enemies. Through the use of Draconic Warding and Absolute Control, Regium make his walls incredibly durable and make them actively punish enemies who would dare try and get past them or remove them from the field of play. In the late game, which is easy to get to if Regium is actively making it hard for the enemy team to push through his walls, Regium can quickly set up fortresses on the map that create a large field of protection for his team. This can make for powerful siege strategies that slowly push towards the enemy's nexus. However, Regium will find it hard to combat against a team with Baron Buff or Elder Dragon, forcing Regium to sometimes abandon his fortresses to make sure the enemy team isn't obtaining objectives that would make his walls meaningless.
