What am I supposed to do if the first person to see my thread downvotes me?

I posted on the PBE forums and got one response, with someone disagreeing with my point. I had no idea how to get back to the thread from the first page, so I tried to see how far back my thread was. Because it had 0 upvotes, since he downvoted me, I could not find my thread via the main interface, instead having to go through my profile.

If this happens in the future, with the first person to see my thread downvoting me, what am I supposed to do? Accept that my point apparently wasn't interesting enough to merit discussion? Keep making the thread? Link to it all the time?

Some people (me for example) sort threads by the time they were made. This way we (or at least me) don't miss any new threads.
I bookmark the threads I like (since there is no "folow" function yet) and return to them periodically.
The top is anyway filled already with threads which vote count cannot be beaten.

If you can remember a keyword in your thread that would have been somewhat unusual, then you can search the forums for that word and more easily find your thread. I've used that technique both in GD and here.

As for promoting your point, as MXXIV noted, at least some of us use the sort button to find new content. That doesn't mean you'll get upvoted back to visibility but it helps.
