Are you guys planning to bring the forum badges over to these boards?

eg: gold/platinum/diamond/challenger badges from previous seasons. Recruiter badges from the refer-a-friend program, etc...

Because these are legitimate awards that people earn, and if these boards are "the future", then those things should be here too.

"But you can just use your summoner icon" -> your summoner icon only represents one season. And what if I want to buy a cool summoner icon with RP (like my Spirit Guard Udyr icons), but still have a badge that shows I made gold this season?

Any rank before SIII should already show up on your icon during mouseover. With certain icons they can be hard to notice at first, and naturally this is a Beta and is prone to bugs so not having them even though you should is a definite possibility.

End of the day, ranked badges are definitely yes, recruit-a-friend and other various badges I'm not sure sure on but I can't think of a reason not to really. It is a low priority thing compared to a lot of the other stuff they're working on though so don't expect it soon. imho

One thing I would find awesome is if our in-game ranking would show when hovering one's name (border based on ranking). It runs into the problem of discrediting low ranking's opinion and making Diamons player's words sound better than they may truly be, but since that section is already out of one's way, I believe that it's not information you would run into randomly.

Otherwise, previous season badges would really be nice, agreed.

The Season 3 ranked badges are bugged currently. All previous badges should show up as an overlay on a player's summoner icon upon mouseover.

They are in a weird place, right on top of players' avatars rather than in the empty space around the name/level/region.

They should make it so it shows up without a mouseover.

Like maybe beside where it says you posted "about an hour ago [NEW]"?

I think the intent from Riot is that the badges aren't super important in comparison with the content. What value do you see from the badges being more prominently visible without a mouseover?

"Value" #1) People have more incentive to actually earn them

"Value" #2) People who did work hard to earn them in previous seasons don't feel "cheated" by having them changed from "always visible" to "visible with mouseover" on the new forums

"Value" #3) I have incentive to buy cool summoner icons (like spirit guard udyr) and still have my rank always visible without using the rank-specific summoner icon
