Post a new thread that is a legitimate issue that needs to be fixed on the new boards

Jesus is Savior··2 votes·609 views

Since these boards have an actual active community now, it gets pushed down to almost the bottom of page one immediately after posting.

Guess I'll be sticking with GD and ONLY GD.

Riot doesn't actually care about my feedback on the game/forums, because it will never be seen.

I'm confused, this doesn't also happen in GD? If you prefer the "most recent reply" ordering then you can click "Recent" at the top and -poof- exact same visibility as vBulletin.

that's not going to make other people see it

But again, you're implying this exact same problem doesn't happen in GD, which I very much disagree with. Posts got buried all the time in GD, especially if they weren't in line with what the GD community wanted to see.

My main question is: What does GD (old or new) do differently that allows your feedback to be seen more?

Jesus is Savior1 votes

I can bump it

EDIT: it also starts off at the top of the page, instead of the bottom

Sir ArmaMalum1 votes

You can do that with the Recent ordering.

There is one key difference however, new 'voices' (new people commenting) will have much more weight than older ones, but as time goes on their weight decreases as wll. This is (I'm 99% sure, but obviously I'm not a red) to prevent two-person arguments from bumping a thread completely over new posts and killing them nigh immediately, as is what happens in GD.

But that doesn't MAKE OTHER PEOPLE SEE MY THREAD.

That just makes ME see recent threads.

Ok, if I understand you correctly, so you want a button that allows you to dominate the board list as long as you're clicking it then? You don't see any problem with that?

Jesus is Savior1 votes

No, I want the boards to follow the same chronological format as the old forums so my threads can *gasp* BE SEEN.

Because the new Reddit format isn't working. I can't post feedback and have someone actually see it. I can't post "looking for a team" and have someone actually see it.

Look, the main point we're disagreeing with here is that the old ordering allowed posts to be seen. I don't believe it did, you believe it did. Honestly that's pretty heavy on opinion so I'll agree to disagree with you.

Right now you're also fighting with a very high peak within Boards Feedback on people repeating the same thing over and over. Tamat actually just made a megathread due to the peak to help out otherwise unrelated posting.

Also isn't the fact that were having the conversation here specifically mean that your post was seen?

Jesus is Savior1 votes

This one was seen.

My other less popular one was not seen.

On the old forums, especially the low traffic ones, I could post something, come back a day later, and have replies. If I didn't, I could bump it and try again. Here, I can't.

That's a legitimately good use of bumping I agree, preventing re-posting. However you have seen the abuse case first hand in the old GD.

Would you agree that old GD, while having some absolutely outstanding and amazing conversations and debates, also suffers from an exorbitant amount of trash posting? The ability to self-promote your post is a good or bad idea depending on who is using it. In your case its good, but would you agree with me that there would be others (arguably many more people) who would use it maliciously or for shcok-value posts like rage threads and bashing?

Funny story: on new GD, you CAN bump threads. It is forced chronological, and nesting is disabled.

And GD is pretty much the ONLY board with such a high population that bumping could be abused, so... Your point is pretty irrelevant.

And you attribute that to the post not being seen... not to the post not being of interest to anyone?

What's the point in having the "general discussion" link on the main website link to a broken/locked forum, and not link to the new GD?

It's a website design flaw. Their links are wrong and need to be fixed. It doesn't matter if it's "not of interest"

The web designers need to see it and fix it.

Or just continue having a shitty website with outdated links.

This is very true, those are certainly things that should be changed. However, there's not really much to discuss about those things. Wouldn't it have been more prudent to post it in any of the "what should we do now" threads that are already being watched by Riot? Example:

You mean the thread that didn't exist when I made my feedback thread? =\

So I'm supposed to sit at the forums all day waiting for Riot to make a thread for me to post in?

LeviathanElite1 votes

They always had an active community lmao... tons of people posted on GD.

and yes, Rito sux

Jesus is Savior1 votes

No I mean, the Reddit format sort of worked when the old forums were alive, because no one was using the new "boards beta".

Now that EVERYONE is on the "boards beta", anything you post won't actually be seen.

The only reason you clicked this thread is because I worded it in a very "anti-Riot" way, which I knew would be "popular".

(Unless you legitimately clicked on the "new" tab to find it)

The only reason I clicked on this was because I though you were annoyed with all the GD people yelling "omg rito boards sux" and were trying to challenge people to come up with something that wasn't mindless hate.

Can you provide a link to the "legitimate post" you made that isn't a re-hash of another post on the same exact topic, which was buried?
