Can chronological view show which posts people are replying to?

When viewing threads in chronological mode you'll often see messages in the middle of a page that say something like "I don't think that's a good idea, it just hurts your early game too much" with zero context. Could there just be a little link to the post they must have been replying to? Even better would be with a little on-hover effect to show the post so we can figure out what that conversation was about.

Eh, you just need to change to Discussion View. Idk why you are trying to not use it, but that's why it exists.

Because chronological view is better for keeping up with parts of the discussion that are active instead of trying to revive a dead conversation. Reddit was designed for sharing and determining the popularity of internet links, for actual conversation that format is pretty bad.

But also, if I then change to 'Discussion View' I still can't find that post in the endless sea of mini-threads.
