Split the board, but since the communities are small, keep it forced chronological like GD.

It's not that the communities "haven't hit critical mass." It's that the communities haven't "hit critical mass for a reddit style upvote/downvote popularity discussion."

So split the boards and style them as a normal forum, just like GD. Ghost-towns are fine if you can bump your thread if it hasn't gotten a reply in a few days.
