Rift Helicopter Parents: Play YOUR OWN champ, dont dictate to me how to build "proper" on MINE!

I know you have all seen the type In the champ select, they tell you who to play and what summoners to take, Not a polite suggestion or request, but they DEMAND it because "Meta" they drone on and on about "play a REAL >insert role<" and will berate you and remind you just how garbage you are if you play anything outside the acceptable selection for your role. (I.e.: I play Jax support, It works well for ME. But the moment I hover jax, I get an earful from the rightous player who needs to remind me just how "Retarded" i am and that I need to play a "proper support" or I will be "reported for trolling in champ select") In the game they will nit-pick everyone of their players for not building according to what THEY decree is the "acceptable" build. And if You dont build how they want, play how they want, go where they want, jump at thier command. Then they will stop everything to throw the biggest hissyfit ever, calling for both teams to report you for "trolling" and when asked why? thier response is "just look at thier build"

...here is my response.... SO FUCKING WHAT!

I am the one playing the champ, I have MY OWN strategy, MY OWN build. Its Not your job to be a god damn helicopter parent and micromanage your team's champions as well as playing your own. Alot of these games are lost because ONE person will scrub through everyone's builds just to make sure they are building the "proper" items. and if you arent building according to what theur meta dictates, they will lose thier shit and not let it go, ending up throwing the whole match.

I have played a soraka with a statik shiv because it helps add a bit of "sting" to her bananas. And overall it helps ME...it works with MY playstyle, MY way of winning. But alot of these meta puritans will take one look at statik shiv and completely lose thier minds throwing the entire match while they temper tantrum because "Soraka with statik shiv, shes trolling...ur trolling! stop trolling! Build proper support!...everyone report the troll, REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE"

I can understand there are some things that dont work, but guess what.... THATS NOT YOUR DECISION TO MAKE FOR YOUR TEAM. Its their champ, Yes you can make suggestions but iltimately it is not your place to choose thier builds FOR THEM. So get your head out of your ass and keep your "proper build" to yourself.

Dude, really? Do you know why people are pissed at you? because you're choosing a champ that is not a support. You obviously don't care about anyone but yourself. you should not be playing Jax as a support, it just doesn't work. He has no support abilities, he's a pure ass kicker. Even Aurelion Sol works as a support, because he can zone or ranged stun or ranged attack. Incredibly stubborn players who just go "IM RIGHT TO PLAY SUPPORT JAX AND EVERYONE ELSE WRONG" that doesn't help the game. that's honestly toxic.

you want to play a badass motherfucker who kills everyone and yet is an actual support?

THERE YOU GO. Do you have any idea how hard Lulu hits with just a spellthiefs edge? she hits as hard or harder than an adc at level 1, with just her auto attacks. its fucking insane.

My response to these types is "Are you a Challenger?"

I won't tell you what to build. I will however suggest items I consider optimal. yknow like mana regen items so soraka can do the literal only job she's been given is to heal, so it does cause me concern if I don't feel I can rely on her as much as someone with the "proper" build that was designed for her to use. I may also suggest items you might not have thought of such as getting an adaptive helm against a swain or a karthus to negate some of their dps in case you hadn't thought of the item before that.

I remember when I was working Yasuo up to Mastery Rank 7 that (among some other things about my build people didn't like), I'd get people chewing me out for buying Boots of Mobility.

That Boots of Mobility is apparently the "wrong" way to build Yasuo is really sad.

Thankfully I haven't dealt with any such players in a good long while.

I once got 4 threat reports for locking in Anivia AP bot lane in a 3 AD + Janna team.

Literally everyone complained about how 'it doesn't work that way and the ADC will kill you' then the mid lane locked in an ADC and demanded I go mid instead, then they all claimed I was being a baby for locking in Anivia and making everyone play around me. (Even though I said multiple times before it was the mid's turn to pick that I wasn't going mid and was actually taking Anivia bot)

Seriously, I just wanted to have magic damage on the team plus having my comfort pick, I actually wanted very badly to play her bot lane because I find 2v2 bot lane surprisingly easier than 1v1 mid.

Sadly I forgot to report the mid laner for actually stealing my role and forcing me to go mid purely because my champion was meta for that lane

This same variety of argument popped up when Singed Support and Nunu Support mains rose to the top and got reported so much that they got "unfairly" banned. The decision that Rioters came to wasn't that off meta picks are bad, but holding your team hostage or making the game feel bad all because you want to force your view on what the game should be on four to nine other people and make it unenjoyable or unfair. ( The player in question, Nunu support, had a fine winrate, but because he was difficult the players that he worked with in both winning and losing matches all reported him because he made the game unfun. Even winning, players deemed it unfun.)

In the end, it comes down to communication. All five players should be working together to achieve the designed outcome you can all agree on. So say, if you were Jax support and the top laner agreed to play something peel heavy ( like Tahm), then the team would remain balanced. It's all about teamwork. Find a middle ground that has the way that you like to play, and your teammates enjoy too.

It might also help to find an adc who likes to try new things to accompany you while you work your magic.

If you are planning not to play like a support should (I frankly can't see how Jax could fill that role), they have perfect reason to ask you to choose a "support champ." You can't go into a basketball game as a 5 foot player, say you'll play center, and demand that your team let you play "your own way." There is a right way to play League, and you let down your team if you don't follow the same guidelines they do. Chances are some other players probably do know better than you. At least save that stuff for norms and don't do it in ranked.
