Disgusting levels of "Smug" towards new players.

So I am working on a new account, grinding up (about lvl 20-22) and have to say what I saw is nauseating levels of smug, arrogance, and "Im better than you" attitude directed towards a NEW player. And riot wonders why thier playerbase is dropping like flies, its already hitting like 8-10 min queue times. and it will only go up.

I actually just got out of a disgusting match. I am in normal draft and was jungle while we had a Lux Mid KogMaw & Thresh Bot lane.

Lux spends the entire game harping on Thresh for how "garbage" he is. And KogMaw spends the entire game kissing lux's ass who seems to brag on and on about how "I have all the kills", not having ANY interest in the towers.

But the disgusting thing is How Kog repeatedly used "I am reporting Thresh for inting, he is 0 and 6" and used threshes KDA as a threat. The kicker is...Thresh was a NEW player, Playing a NEW champ for the first time. He said he had never played thresh before, and his gameplay proved it. But alot of these players are so stuck up and full of themselves, that despite it being normal draft where people are LEARNING new champs. This community insists on acting like people arent allowed to actually be inexperienced at a champ.

The entire game, lux and Kog bragged about all thier kills, how "only kills matter" and how "Garbage" the thresh player was. Repeatedly calling for reports on the "inting" Thresh. This is why people hate the league community, the level of snobbery to where players arent even ALLOWED to be new. They are expected to play at a challenger tier skill level from GAME 1, with a character they have NEVER played before, Know nothing of.

and If they do poorly? They are reported for INTING.

and yes, I know, "False reports will be thrown out". I get it. But spending the entire game listening to the arrogance and demeaning/degrading and overall "Im above you" attitudes of this community being puked out towards players who have maybe ony been playing a week, a month...a day... All because this community has thier head shoved up thier ass, is disgusting.

And the worst part about it, which i know from personal experience...including the previous game...is that people like lux will be given a free pass. Oh who cares if they spend the entire game demeaning and degrading a new player, threatening to get them banned for underperforming on champions they have NEVER PLAYED BEFORE. The community will still act like KogMaw and suck up to them, give them a free pass because they can "Solo carry", because they have "all the kills". WHo cares if the game is lost, The kogmaw was quite open "Im honoring lux because only the stats matter"

New players are not allowed to make mistakes, Not allowed to actually learn. Lest the "pro" players who come to draft decide to call for reports and try and get a new player banned for...being new and inexperienced. Great game Riot, keep rolling out those skins while your community chases off every new player with arrogance and smug overconfidence

In another game I had a teammate who admited "i have never played Kaisa before". I had knowledge of how she worked so spend some time giving help towards the player about how the champion worked (because Unlike the rest of this community, I am a veteran but not so full of myself that I am unwillin to help new players) The entire game our cho gath was raging "Bard SHUT THE FUCK UP. I KNOW HOW KAISA WORKS" completely ignoring the fact that I wasnt SPEAKING to cho'gath. I was helping the actual person PLAYING Kaisa for the first time.

So because CHO knows how kaisa works and was too good to actually help the player. I am supposed to shut my mouth because he already knows how she works. New players cant be new and experienced veterans are not allowed to help new players learn, I mean we arent allowed to step outside our station right? The new players need to stay where they belong, beneath the feet of these experienced know it alls. How DARE someone like me help another player learn a champ. puts on a Monacle and Tophat I say, these new players need to just not be new and we wont have to ban them. If they are going to play a champ for the first time, they should have the forethought and ability to play said champ at a minimum gold-tier skill level, otherwise why play the champ for the first time at all.....

This is how this community sounds, how much higher can you get your nose in the air? going for a record? You flame and degrade a new player...for being new at a champ....they have never played before. Then turn around and accuse them of "inting" because they went "0 and 6, which is definately inting" This community Makes me sick. and I have been playing sinse season 3

Yeah the game is in a gross place right now, actually it has been for quite some time. For enough time, I think, that many of its core players have left. By core i mean those that have played for a really long time and were not pros or anything. Not monetarily dependent on the game.

The only reason there are still a lot of major players attached to it in the high elo, former pros and so on, is because they make a living off of streaming in many cases. They are financially linked to the game, and they've in way too deep to walk away.

The core of the problem is matching. Poor community and general playerbase all roots from frustrated players, in combination with the new bratty/spoiled generation. I'm not sure how much of the issue is which, its certainly a combination.

I think the issue you describe is tied to the immature new generation. They're pretty spoiled.

Sometimes I want to make a new account to help fellow new players. The only thing that keeps me away from doing so is for one, I only need one account, and two I don't want to encounter the toxic players that been recently banned. The last thing I want to be is a venting target for toxic players just to test my patience. So once that is figured out by Riot, I might try doing so. Maybe make new friends or what not.

For now, it's a plague I'd rather avoid.

careful you can't type to the players in game while they are being assholes because you will then get a chat restrict or worse! You adding on to negative behavior of your teammates will only create more negativity and riot cannot condone this.

It's not just the new players, even mains are called out for trying to innovate by doing something "not meta". I've been testing out various things as a Yi main. The more conventional stuff like the standard item 1419 item 3124 is acceptable, nobody says a thing even if you have a bad game. But the second they see I went item 1400 as progression into crit build - they spam ping it after I get 3 man invaded while they afk farm their lanes - as if a bloodrazor would have magically won me the 3v1. That's not even that troll, it's not like I went and bought a mejai's or something really off.

Some people have lost sight of how to think for themselves. I like players like King Nidhogg, he actually thinks for himself to come up with weird things that even he sometimes gets pinged for. It's not the same as going AD Soraka just because you can though. For instance, his Lethal Tempo on-hit J4 has a logic behind it - if you miss EQ it doesn't matter as much because you whack them to death with a huge AS boost from max E and LT. But put this in front of a "challenjour" meta sheep, you instantly get flamed for not doing meta things.

its the opposite for me xd.

new players are shitting on me for playing new champs as a gold player. Like my friend is leveling up a new account and we're duo queuing. I got flamed by the enemy mid laner for "being gold 5 and not being able to win lane against a level 22". :/

I'm sorry I'm playing new champs so i can learn them.... Like you can't expect me to know how to execute Akali's whole combo on my first game with her. And you can't expect me to survive a 3 man gank mid.

Stop bullying me new players D:

Here's a thought: if you're new, and/or don't have a thorough understanding of the Champion or role you'll be playing, play AI games. Does anyone else get a sense of dread when someone on their team says "first time [x], by the way," or is it just me? The place to play Champions you've haven't played before is AI. That's quite literally what it's there for.

Yup. League isn't friendly to new players. Riot lost touch with their player base long time ago. The only that matters is skins and E-sport. Punishing and experimenting gameplays.

New players? What's that?

Every good Yasuo spent hundreds of games ending world hunger before he got to where he is.

It would be a lot better if there were less smufs. I wish people only felt the need to smurf if they reached a point where que times were excessively long. Now a lot of average players smurf and insult bc they aren't good enough to give constructive criticism.

LoL is a game where you can go into a vs AI game and be ping-spammed the unconventional items you build because you want to shake things up and play something with a different methodology than is expected in PvP.

I'm sorry but if you passive-aggressively ping or flame for trying to set personal challenges for yourself against BOTS because you don't want to disrupt the experience of ACTUAL, LIVE PLAYERS, then we know it's going to be a stupidly impossible perspective to expect from people here on in.

I mean, heck, I played a Riven game where I attempted to "game" the Intermediate AI Brand to put itself in constant danger and miss truckloads of CS, all the while avoiding dying myself. I tried to get as few CS as humanly possible but when killing a champion with Riven, a few eventually get caught up in the mix. I didn't even build damage and it was all gravy. Now, imagine someone taking that concept and applying it to playing even MORE safely, building a more flexible build and using even BETTER teamwork to achieve PvP goals...but no no no no no no, we could never let THAT happen, could we?

Thankfully, because I wasn't taking CS or feeding no one said anything. Still, though, situations of this nature usually garner a lot of spiteful hate and put people off from trying to get anything out of a game other than instant gratification.

As a new player cause i barely picked up the game last nov. It has been rough since i had to learn on my own cause no1 would give me advice. The way i got better was to look up youtube videos so i can get a understanding of the game. But still it was very toxic my 1st normal games. But it didnt affect me much since im mentally strong. Cant say the same for some other newbies.

I would argue that players dropping like flies is an exaggeration, but last year their active player count was 21 million down from the 100 million it had boasted a year prior, after which, for 2018 they didn't release a player count, which is pretty damning.

You know, instead of whining about the lol community,/mute all at the start of the game. Every player should do this, and communicate with pings. I know players can ping spam or troll other players but its better then seeing people flaming each other. The arguements from a player to other players can ruin games and tilt the teammates. I think all the new players need to /mute all at the start of the game. No chat = no flaming and toxicity.

Give Smurfs the option of when making a new account to prove that they are a Smurf by sending verification to their main so they can get an instant level 30 or something, pre level 30 is basically cancerous when new players and Smurfs are mixed together. Doing this would probably fix the Smurf issue in pre 30 and could bring back the playerbase

I'm leveling up an alt right now as well and after going back and forth between the two, I have finally decided that I don't even have fun if I win anymore.

I'm going to go say hello to DoTa and Runescape again
