Lost a ranked match: Sion afks "I had to go eat"

So lost another match with a sion who waited till like 5 minutes into the match to afk. Doesnt return till about the 20-22 minute mark, the enemy already fed and in our base. His excuse "I had to go eat" If you know you are gonna have to go DONT QUEUE UP, Especially in ranked.

Just because "I had to go eat" is not an excuse for fucking over 4 other players on your team, leaving them a man short and ending up in a loss. If you know you have to leave or wont be able to commit the full match, DONT LOOK FOR A MATCH!!!! I dont want to lose matches because someone decides in the first 5 minutes of the match "y'know, I gotta go take a shower" and screws over the team.

TLDR: If you cant stay the full match, if you think something is gonna come up. DONT QUE FOR A MATCH.

I doubt earting or not eating during your match was life and death. Most people are fat enough to survive weeks of no eating.

when i ask my mom she is like "yea in about 30-60min" and randomly 5min later "DINNERS SERVED COME NOW!!!" :D but yea i think in 5 years i had to afk once because of food

I don't live with my parents any more, but that worked just fine for me when I was playing World of Warcraft.

yeah......that's not the same for every house. Back then, dinner is ready when dinner is ready.

I'd rather have teammates scream their lungs out that I can easily mute than have a loudspeaker in my ears that I cannot mute in real life.

I will never see these 4 (9) people ever again, but I sure as hell have to eat dinner the next day.

You should still extend the courtesy to the players you're in a match with.

If you have parents that can't be reasoned with, fine, don't queue up until after dinner. Joining a game that you don't have a reasonable expectation of staying through is doing yourself and your fellow players an immense disservice, and if there's a chance mom's gonna call for dinner, you can't possible have that reasonable expectation.

Please note that I'm not suggesting that somebody ignore their own parents if a situation arises. That's unreasonable. Shit happens. But I do think it's realistic to expect people to manage their time and their obligations in such a way that something like a family dinner doesn't suddenly pop up in the middle of a League match.

Then you don't have dinner at wildly different times, you probably have dinner between 5 pm - 8 pm, which quite frankly is far from "wild".

Agreed. 5 pm - 8 pm isn't really that wild. Problem is that some people actually have dinner at "wild"ly different times, even with that definition. Mine varies from 4 pm to 10 pm.

Contrary to popular belief, not eating does not make your body start eating away at the excess fat, making you skinny again. Not eating will in fact kill you. In a slow manner

Fasting in moderation is not a big deal for most people. And when it comes to burning fat, that's where exercise comes in.

You don't have to exercise to burn fat.... your body does it automatically. In fact it burns about 1200-1500 calories every single day without you lifting a finger or getting out of bed.

Yeah.. it's called your Basil Metabolic Rate (BMR) which is approximately 1200-1500 calories average (relative to the average male/female). Your BMR is the amount of energy (calories) required to keep all your basic metabolic systems running like your brain, your kidneys, lungs, if you were in coma. Since we're not in coma, we burn a few hundred more calories sitting around playing video games.

Obese people eat more calories than they burn, that's why they become obese. Not because they don't exercise. Exercising would help them burn more calories. Eating less than they burn would make them lose weight.

Not telling someone not to eat, but I can't imagine many at this point, not being familiar enough with MOBA's to not be aware of how long a match could potentially take. With how long matches use to be, there wasn't a great deal of surprise when food or the like would interrupt a match, but even then, it was seen as a problem if they were to completely abandon the game in the midst of the match. Now'a days though, a match can last as little as 15 minutes. If people can't plan around that, and they deliberately abandon a match, they're as good as a troll.

Not all players are adults who are allowed to come and go as they fancy, many players are children who, when their mom says it's time to eat, IT'S FUCKIN TIME TO EAT.

Yeah, that's a pain. However, sometimes they don't know they have to eat, then are suddenly told by their parents "come eat or you're grounded, your food is getting cold." Not saying it's justified but that it happens sometimes.

Worse even, the times of food are all over the place, and some nights are get your own food or made for you, so it's unpredictable.

Don't you guys see how trivial these things are. REAL LIFE should take precedence over this. Its a game for kids.. Yes their parents will pull them off the computer to eat, and to go to bed, and do chores. The reality is its a game for kids, if you are 18+ you should be focused on your work or school or life or wife. And if you're under 18.. your parents own your @$$ and you do what they say..

Keep in mind, he could have just as easily lied and said his mom needs to go to the hospital, but he chose to say the truth.. And here he is getting condemned. lol

No, it's not acceptable. These players need to be banned from ranked until they are 18. Smarter young players are welcome, why not. But the ones that end up abandoning games are too foolish to follow the rules.

He could have followed all the rules by just not playing at that time.

Kids aren't idiots, they know how likely it is that dinner will be ready soon. He was just a selfish ass and risked the elo of his entire team on the chance that he'd get to finish the game and maybe win.

Yeah parent rules supersede game rules, but this isn't an either/or situation.

I literally lost 6 ranked games in a row because of afks. I think riot should make it that if there's an afk before 15 minutes it automatically becomes a draw, not a defeat, it's not right for you to lose a ranked game just because someone else afks. It's beyond our control so we shouldnt be punished for the actions of someone else

I don't have evidence, of-course this is just my assumption. But considering how well off league is i would say the main target audience might just be young adults. After all kids and teens can't all afford to buy things from the game, young adults on the other hand often can. Assuming kids and teens are the main center of online video games is kinda dead wrong as from my experience i've encountered more adults than kids actually and no they aren't all basement dwellers, they range from freeloaders to retired/injured adults that don't work anymore. Again this is just an assumption from my own experience but nothing i've experience has let me to believe that online games are not teen central.
