here's how the riot ban system works as of right now

you can intentionally feed. as long as you dont say you're intentionally feeding.

you can purposely throw a game for 4 people on your team.

You CAN NOT be toxic. even if its the guy who purposely threw his game

can't be mean to him.

we can't prove he threw the game purposely but we can prove you were mean to him here's a 2 week ban bye.

I'm of the opinion that they treat toxicity properly but need to punish intentionally feeding 10x as much as they currently do.

I'm also of the opinion that intentionally throwing/trolling/leaving should be treated with double weight in Ranked.

How it works: Being verbally abusive or toxic is easy to identify, so it's easier to punish someone quickly for that. Even if the person you are verbally abusing is being an asshat, yelling and abusing them does fuck all to them and just makes the game worse for the other people on their team because they are now stuck with two screaming assholes. It's always better to just mute a loud asshole and report them then lash out. With feeding, it's harder to take quick action since if you act too quickly, people who have a godawful series of games can get caught in the net. I do agre it feels like intentional feeders and quitters get away with their shit longer, but it's done to reduce the chance people who have bad luck don't fret banned because they are having an off day or their internet/computer hates them.

I'm reminded of the times, watching some of my fav streamers (during champ select/banning phase). When someone would threaten to troll/feed, if they didn't get their specific role (sometimes, they'd do it because their fav champ was banned).

Many times, the troll would try to blackmail people by demanding a free skin.. otherwise they'll troll/feed.

Then the streamer would point out the fact that the match was being recorded and that if he did indeed feed/troll, that the video would be sent in with a report.

This would either result in the person acting like they were just "joking".. while other times, they just dodge or infact actually do go in and feed/troll, operating under the assumption that the video evidence wont mean anything.

IE: So what? I won't get banned anyways!

Honestly, I think a built-in feature for replays (that records chat somehow) would go a long way to improving the state of toxic players in the game.

It's because trolling is hard to identify. Steal a jungler's camps? Maybe it's just the jungler helping the ADC get fed. Dying repeatedly? Maybe the enemy is Faker.

Also, if you yell at a troll, the troll just won. He wants you to rage and he wants you to get banned.

or when you say something then your own team lies and makes it seem like you are being toxic and you get a warning for toxicity. Seriously this whole thing is stupid. Sorry for telling the feeding mundo not to build pure AD!

Its not even so much as being mean to someone, but just saying something they don't like. I've gotten warned for "verbal abuse" plenty of times for telling someone to stop dying or pointing out them building ineffective items.

When a game goes badly due to (un)intentional feeding by a teammate, the current system teaches people to:

  1. mute everyone
  2. play hard enough to not get an afk penalty, but end the match quickly

A short ban taught me to mute everyone. Leavebuster taught me not to quit and also not to try. Simple and effective. Removed the "toxicity", but didn't really improve the game.

I didn't realize how many prople learned the same lessons I did until after my game behavior changed.
