Riot, next season can we get a brief explaination for our placement in ranked?

This season I did my placements with a buddy of mine. I got placed in Gold 1. That is where I ended last season. He was placed in Bronze 3 but he ended Silver 2 last season. We did all ten placements together and I got placed exactly where I was last season but he got placed an entire tier below where he ended. Why?

Instead of just dropping players in a bracket and calling it good could you give them a little snippet as to why they got placed where they did?

Placements really don't mean anything. If you are Gold, and get placed in Bronze, you'll just carry yourself out. The 30 games after placements are way more important because those actually move you up or down in rank.

Explanation is that most of the time your League/Division does not reflect your MMR. The only time when it does reflect it perfectly is right after you finished your placements. You can climb without actually raising your MMR, or raising much less significantly than your rank. You can grind your way to a higher tier while maintaining shit MMR, then next season you will find yourself placed in a shit Division, why? Because this is the only time when system actually puts you to the Division you deserve according to your MMR. You've all been spoiled too much.

Your previous rank heavily dictates where you end up.

There is a soft reset which shifts everyone towards low silver, then placements work just like regular ranked games except they are worth more.
