loss prevented explanation

Before you start down voting this is a question.

I want to know when does the game give loss prevented insted of defeat.

I am not sure what the conditions are and how this is determined.

Eg. I was in a match where our top laner didn't connect until a little late. Then he left 5 minutes before the game was over, i got a defeat and not loss prevented.

Can anyone clarify how this works, thanks.

Loss prevented happens when riot "pushes the button"

The "button" gets pushed when the servers are having issues that affects many players in many games, like when the severs are getting ddos'd not when just a random individual is having connection issues.

Loss prevented really only counts in ranked games, meaning you will not loose lp and your mmr is not affected due to the fact the servers have issues that can ruin ranked games in all divisions from bronze-Challenger.

When they detect their servers are having an issue. Like, widespread nearly nobody can stay connected type shit. Not Firewall error or someone always has individual connection issues.

If there were any connection issues on server's side then you will get loss prevented.

Mind you that some games might be 5v5 and the losing team will still get loss prevented if there are problems.
