Should I buy Gnar or Illaoi?

I want someone who has a high skillcap, is fun, and can duel well (top laner)

Illaoi looks really cool, but gnar with his poke and cc fits my playstyle better... idk.

Illaoi is more fun but her skull cap seem low to me . Based on what you are looking for I recommend gnar ether way you should w8 until illaoi ip price drops this week

It's hard to say if Gnar is in a good position in this season or not. He can't really duel 1 v 1 against most meta top laners right now. He might have poke and range but it really doesn't amount too much against people that can sustain it, and jump on him and burst out-trade him for more than he can deal unless he gets a snowball.

Illoai right now is disgustingly strong only because she has yet to be regulated and nerfed which will happen in a week or so, and her skillcap--in my opinion--doesnt seem to be as high as gnars in terms of mechanical gameplay. She's alot more auto-pilot than she seems. But she definitely lane dominates and zones alot harder than gnar.

I strongly disagree. If you look at win rates on champion.gg Gnar is sitting at a 50% win rate Illaoi is at 43%. I think that win rate will increase as people learn how to play her but I doubt she will get nerfed soon.

Gnar vs Illaoi is really a question of whether you would rather be stronger in lane or stronger in team fights. Illaoi is incredibly oppressive in lane if she gets ahead but she needs time to set up her tentacles. Gnar has amazing team fight and TP potential while still being able to hold his own against most lane opponents.

No no i was never saying gnar wasn't good at any of those things. Nowhere in my post did i talk about that stuff. I never said he wasn't good at what he does when he does it. But from what ive seen and played with/against, and watched in professional games hes not doing well overall. This post is about who the OP should buy between Illaoi and Gnar and Illaoi is in a better place than gnar is right now overall, but that was never to say gnar is bad.

I feel too many people take those win rates to heart. I mean there are alot of factors that decide a win more than just one person or the champion they played in a game. A person that did excellent in game and in lane can still lose, just like a terrible person that fed horribly can still win. Im going by what ive seen firsthand, not what a website is telling me is all.

But you could be right too :D
