Even disregarding the extremely small chance that they really do, what the fuck? They LITERALLY did something mean to you in a video game... so you want them to die? I know that obviously it's exaggeration, but please, be srs. There is literally nothing that a player could do in a game that they should kill themselves over, not even remotely. So please, stop with tis and all similar things (i. e. get insert deadly disease)

EDIT: Holy shit that's a lot of responses. Anyway,, I just want to be clear: I understand raging in general. I've called people fucking scumbags and the like many times (not that this is ok), but death threats/kill yourselves things take it from being kind of annoying/toxic to an extreme and unacceptable level.

On the flip side, it's the internet. If you are that unstable, you probably shouldn't be playing a game known for it's shit community and trolling. During the time that I played League, I was told to kill myself exactly 0 times. Honestly, I'm not sure why everyone is saying that it's a problem.

It's the anonymous factor, people think just because it's the internet, and the likely hood of them ever meeting the person in real life is almost 0, they have the right to talk to that person anyway they want. What they fail to realize is that they are talking to another human being, and it doesn't matter if they're playing badly; or if it's the internet, they have no right to talk to another person like that.

Out of all the weapons in the world, the tongue is the most destructive. People really need to remember that.

Going strictly based on hours isn't right because different profiles give different results, for some reason.

Mine, for example, shows something like 36. (I'm not there now, so that's a rough estimate of what I saw 30 minutes ago.)

The problem with your logic here is that you may as well say, "If you are that unstable, you probably shouldn't exist in society, since its full of trolls and dick heads."

People don't know who is unstable, and that is why we should try not to do things that could trigger violent or irreversible episodes. The fact that their are jerks in the world is not reason for someone to shut themselves in away from everyone. Isolation for this reason only substantiates feelings of not belonging and inferiority. People with these kinds of unstable issues need support from people.

I'm getting absolutely sick and fucking tired of people trying to use "It's the internet" as an excuse to disregard humanity.

We live on the fucking Earth. All of us.

Your family are humans. Your spouse, children, grandparents, co-workers, the cashier at McDonalds. We are all. Humans.

There is no reason (and there will never be a reason) for a certain media to passively ignore the structure of an entire society. Anyone telling me that the internet is a safe place to use mental disabilities as insults and wish for a person's death is wrong. They will always. Be. Wrong.

And the only way to combat that is to make it a priority. The only way to make sure people fully understand that the internet is not, and will never be, a place to safely insult other people and disregard their humanity, is to make it as big of a "deal" as possible.

If you're a functioning human being and you get told to kill yourself on the internet, and you know you're not going to, that does not make it okay for the other person to act so violently.

Yes, it actually is a huge deal. Because when someone says "kill yourself" to anyone, I remember in VIVID detail how I felt when one of my best friends committed suicide. Additionally, if someone is going through some hard times and someone tells you to kill yourself, its going to affect you. Yes, it's an internet troll, but game still affect us as much as we pretend they don't

It is a big deal, actually. As someone who battled through Depression (on-going battle; the war wages on) I felt "Hey, I could still play a game. Games are supposed to be fun, so it'll cheer me up." Instead, I happened to not have a great game because I countered because, well, that happens sometimes, and so I get met with constant taunts from someone to kill myself. I only just barely didn't not long after, due to other happenstance.

You don't know what the person receiving that is going through. Games are supposed to be fun, not hives of hostility wherein it's excused under the umbrella of 'trash-talk.' Trash talk is fine by me, until you take it too far or you're just going for bm. Telling someone to kill themselves is so far beyond that it's absurd that anyone would try to defend it.

Nobody said what pushed me over was from the game, you presumptuous twat. But you don't know if someone is actually in the process of considering it. The comment certainly didn't help, being that even strangers who don't even know of me or my actions beyond a video game that affects them for all of 30 minutes want me dead.

Best part is that you think it's an exaggeration. Plenty of times, people actually mean it and wish for it to happen. And if you want to know why, it's probably because that person has realized that the value of a total strangers life is nothing. At all. You won't meet them, you won't know if they even do actually kill themselves. It's entirely irrelevant to the person saying the words.

I've helped enough people through low points in their life to say that it does, in fact, actually hurt people. Stupid little things like some fourteen-year-old telling them to kill themselves on a video game can be the straw that breaks the camel's back.
