I hated playing in this event...

So I know how that sounds but let me explain

The idea for the event was good but here are the big nonos

1: The community event part of gaining points was on the worst week possible (E3 and Steam Sales)

2: The way of gaining points was not fun or rewarding

  • 5 man premades are not easy to come by since most people don't have that amount of friends to play with at once
  • if you made a chat 5 premade (most people) you gained nothing more in the teamwork department then going for blind pick, . you did it only because of the points . sometimes the one forming the party was a complete asshole who firmly believed everyone else was his bitch
  • You only got rewarded for winning, if we got even 1 point per team in a lost it would make the defeat that much more bearable
  • If you had the same luck as me you would either be facing a non premade (meaning if you lost no points at all) or be against a true 5 man premade that were skyped or something, meaning you would loose almost automatically given the difference in coordination

Ip boost weekend problems:

1: Fake 5 man premades (chat premades) vs real 5 man premades

  • The problem repeats by the fact that a fake team will never have the level or coordination of a real one, making it so the only real benefactors of the event were the people who have a bunch of real friends in game as opposed to the solo Q ones

2: the feeling that if you were not on a 5 man premade you would be missing out

  • At least i felt if i played ANYTHING that was not composed of 5 premade I would be wasting my time, truly I don't know how to fix this but it IS a problem regardless

Those were my thoughts on the event, I wish we have more (Butchers Bridge looks like its on the right track), I wish for future events to be Lore related, I wish for better planned and timed events in the future and most of all

I wish for events that are fun to play for every kind of player, be them the lonely solo Q master carry or the BFFs that have the premade bot or the group of wannabe pros of 5 man teams ^^

I disagree on 1, it was smart to compete with Steam and E3 Riot may have kept a few players away from them and boosted their revenues,

but the rest makes sense, Riot already gives bonus IP for groups on occasion entire events shouldn't be built on them,

For you, maybe. I happen to enjoy playing League of Legends so I had fun with it. The event (and its rewards) was reason enough for friends who don't play that often to log back on and get a few games in with me.

  • 5 man premades are not easy to come by since most people don't have that amount of friends to play with at once

People have more fun when playing with friends, so by making this event they are trying to encourage this. This is none of my business, but you might try adding more people to your friends list. The Facebook feature is non-invasive way to counteract this, or you could just add people who are friendly during a random game.

  • if you made a chat 5 premade (most people) you gained nothing more in the teamwork department then going for blind pick,

So invite them to voice chat.

. you did it only because of the points

I don't see the problem with this. If you feel like participating, gather 4 other people and play. If you don't, then don't.

. sometimes the one forming the party was a complete asshole who firmly believed everyone else was his bitch

Then don't play with people like that. Don't let a couple bad individuals sour the entire event for you.

  • You only got rewarded for winning, if we got even 1 point per team in a lost it would make the defeat that much more bearable

And if we got one point, people would probably say it's so little it wouldn't have mattered. If it were 2, would say that wins aren't worth the effort for the points and would band groups just to throw games on purpose for points. Having only wins generate points helps encourage legitimate gameplay and makes wins (with your possibly newly found teammates) feel more rewarding. Also, some of the rewards are only being given to those who participated. Some people were fortunate and won their first game, but most probably had to play multiple games. This wasn't on accident.

  • If you had the same luck as me you would either be facing a non premade (meaning if you lost no points at all) or be against a true 5 man premade that were skyped or something, meaning you would loose almost automatically given the difference in coordination

So Skype your teammates.

The solution also repeats. Download Curse Voice. Learn to play with strangers better. Make new friendships so you have better cohesion for the next event (and games between now and then, why not).

That is entirely on you bud. Nobody but you can fix that problem for you except you. League might be causing you too more stress than is worth it.

I definitely agree with better-timed ones. Steam doesn't announce its sale dates ahead of time, but E3 is kind of a big deal. I'm not sure why they put it then, but regardless. You'd think people would have prioritized this event though, because E3 vids will be on YouTube until the apocalypse, whereas this event was only for a limited time. shrug That's how I looked at it anyway.

I wish for events that are fun to play for every kind of player, be them the lonely solo Q master carry or the BFFs that have the premade bot or the group of wannabe pros of 5 man teams ^^

The dream. :D They make plenty of events for everybody though, like Doom Bots, URF, Hexakill, One for All, etc. This one just had a different goal in mind, with goals and rewards as well. I had fun with it and I'm looking forward to my free champ in the coming days.

Honestly I didn't like the advantage the enemy team had. I don't know why but it seems like during the event a lot of people were misplaced. So people would invite friends of low or high tier so it would make the matchmaking uneven. I remember playing a game with all plats because majority of the people I was queued with were in that. It's not really fun playing with people who are obviously on a higher understanding of the game. It was fun but they could have made it a lot more fun without such harsh requirements and the part where majority of the points were from using RP

If you ask me - they had it this week on purpose. Trust me, Riot knows when the steam sale is. So how do they keep their players on league instead of watching them be whisked away to better things? -#hostanevent

I feel like there where more 5er Premades when the IP Weekend was here I went for a shower while being in one Chatroom and had 109 Invitations after coming back

All of the reasons you dislike the event are exactly why Riot wants to do it in the first place.

There are a bunch of other events that week? Riot wants to compete with them, hence the points week. 5 mans are a pain to come up with? Riot wants to figure out how to fix this, probably with seeing how we handle it this week.

Even the point about coordinated teams vs uncoordinated teams - this can help Riot tune the fudge factor they use in their matchmaker for such occasions.

Way I see it, your not losing anything by playing, playing with a 5 man gives bonuses, but if you dont want to you dont have to, you get the same ip as you did before the event.
