Secret to being a great Shen

Just went 13-1-15 as Shen. Yeah, it's a brag. I am impressed by those numbers.

Team asked "How are you so good Shen?" and "Are you premade? That is tight synergy." (Not a premade by the way) The answer is so simple. Just have a single shred of Map Awareness. That is ALL it takes to be a good Shen. Our jungle is about to gank bot from behind so I should ult to him and taunt them making it a 4v2 and basically guarantee a successful gank. Mid is dueling and the enemy has no escapes so I should ult in there even if all is needed is the shield from my ult to win the duel. Bot dove and might die to tower, I should ult to save them and deny the enemy a kill. Jungle is caught in a bad spot so I should ult him to either force a fight or scare off the enemy. If your ult is off cooldown you should be actively keeping an eye out for times to use it.

Seriously, just have some map awareness and you are already better than most Shen players. Hell, you are already better than most players in general.
