What exactly am I doing wrong?

Over a thousand games in silver, and never amounted to anything. Now, with the new season, I placed bronze 3, and I'm not climbing or dropping, despite gaining over 30 LP a win -- so I can't even win in fucking bronze.

I just want to stop losing my games, but I don't know what I can even do.

Well for one, not climbing/dropping despite thousands of games played means that you're probably where you belong, given your skill level. There are a few quick fixes that can boost bronze players a couple divisions:

  1. Always keep a positive attitude. There are statistics that support a correlation between positive win rate and positive mindset. There are also psychological and neurological phenomena behind this, which I can elaborate on. Most importantly, take a break after losing.

  2. Don't get killed. You can consistently achieve a low death count in most of your games by playing safe. This means don't take risks. Some examples are chasing enemies, engaging fights that you're not certain you can win, diving, over-extending, etc.

  3. Map awareness. Generally what I tell players is to do a head count on the minimap every 5 or so seconds. Look at the minimap, identify where everyone is and who you're seeing. Doing this every 5 seconds will help with all sorts of little things. Maybe your ally is being chased up the river and you can help. Maybe one of your teammates forgot to call MIA. Maybe everyone is mid so it's your opportunity to push the lane.

I see that you have an account on replay.gg which makes it a lot easier to help you. If you need more help I could look at some of your replays at some point, although point number 2 probably hits home most games.

I went 9-1 in my provisionals, I got bronze 3. Played 2 games, got to my promos, won 3/3, went to bronze 1. Season ended....I deserve at least silver...and I will get gold. Positive attitude.

So I went over half of a replay where you lost as Graves, going 5/3/1. I tried to pick a loss where you didn't do too terrible in terms of score. Just going to list things in chronological order, analyzing each event.

  1. Early on there was a point where you flashed to get closer to Twitch, presumably to kill him since he was low. Problem is Nautilus was in your way, at full health, and you were very low as well. Even if you did get the kill, which you didn't, you would've died and trades are not profit. You ended up dying with no gain. These are the kind of risks that you need to stop taking in order to consistently perform better. Your support also decided to engage with you on that, at low health, resulting in a double.

  2. You pushed all the way past the river. Having a ward does not mean you can over-extend. Unless you can conclude that it's safe to push by doing the minimap check, do not go past half your lane. The extending resulted in your support dying to save you. Against better players it could've easily been a double.

  3. Despite being low, you tried to engage because your support managed to get on top of Twitch. You left the safety of your turret so Nautilus grabs you and nearly kills you. If he didn't flash for the grab, he could've easily flashed to last hit you for the kill. Just because your support or teammates make a stupid decision, doesn't mean you need to follow through and die pointlessly.

  4. Xin Zhao ganks bot and nearly kills a lone Nautilus. Both you and Braum were nearly full health but recalled at tower instead of helping. Watching the minimap would've helped you to cash in on this opportunity, landing a kill and 2 assists.

  5. Again Xin Zhao ganks and kills Twitch, then almost Nautilus in a 1v2. Braum sees the opportunity and engages, but does not manage to save Xin. You should've seen the opportunity and came in for 2 kills as well as preventing a death.

All of these negative events can be avoided by point 2 and 3. If you can't maintain a positive attitude, it will simply be very difficult to climb ladder. Mentality plays a very large part.

if you have a thousand games it and your still not climbing its probably due to, something you need to improve on. Try to focus on your mistakes and see what your doing wrong. Are you cs'ing well? warding? good lane trades? Positioning in fights? Do you know your match ups well?

Really look into what your doing wrong and improve it, and I'll gurantee you'll climb ^-^
