League has made me a stronger person

It's odd to say, but I think League of Legends has made me a stronger person: a little more specifically, it has made me a stronger gamer, a wiser gamer, a more strategic gamer, a more level-headed individual, a more laid-back individual, and a funner person.

Why?

Because I've been doing something a lot of LOL players don't - I've been getting better. Not just better at the game, but becoming a better person. When my team feeds like cray-cray, I don't get so angry. Just let it pass because I'll forget all about it when I'm ten minutes out. I remember my best games and my best plays a lot more. I'm striving to enjoy the game more - I still take it seriously, but I remember that it is just a game and NOT my life.

I work in an environment where customers are always angry - League has helped me smile and laugh at angry people. Why? Because, 99% of the time, they're angry and raging at me, for something I didn't have any part of!! I've learned that I cannot change or control others, but better control myself.

Humble in victory and graceful in defeat... I think the phrase goes like that....?

I never get salty if my teammates feed. I get salty if I feed.

When I first started playing, I used to get really upset when I lost or if someone fed, after a while I stopped caring altogether; and that didn't just affect my league life, it led into my personal and relationship side of my life.

I stopped being emotional towards my girlfriend, stopped caring about anything that went on around me for the longest of time. Then I had the hugest wake up call when my ex decided to talk to me again wishing for the old me.

After that happened I found the split between League and my personal life and was able to not care in league, and care more than I ever had in my personal life.

I too had changed for the best thanks to League

Thank you Rito.

I don't know how you do I get extremely angry and pissed no matter what. It is impossible to control for some reason, like this game legit makes me want to burn a school down but I keep coming back to play more. Also play on tilt when I know I shouldn't. Maybe its just an addictive personality but I envy you.

Good for you though not taking anything away from what your able to do just jealous

the part "it is just a game and NOT my life" is confusing.

Are you playing the game? If yes, then it IS your life. (not whole but at least part of it)

Lol has done a lot of things for me.

It improved my mentality and gave my insight on how to get good at any game at a fairly rapid pace.

I've gotten shit talk from silver to diamond from teammates who all think they're just the best fucking players in the world, now I can't take anyone seriously if they rage. Like really? You're surprised you can't win 100% of the games? It's almost as though this game was designed to have a winner and a loser, learn to take a loss sheeesh.

You're a better man than I. The people I come across in this game bring out a person in me I didn't know I had. If anything league has made me a worse person. I love the game when im playing ranked 5's with my friends, the game is perfect. Unfortunately it's really hard to organize it with my friends so im forced to play with strangers and more often than not it makes me really toxic, mostly I just get defensive and retaliate to provocation, but sometimes i'm the instigator when poor play or poor attitude irritates me enough. It's extremely hard to curb, sometimes I wish i could just disable my chat and just communicate with pings.

It's made me a meaner person. I stopped caring as much about other people, about helping them or their problems. I'm jaded, and I never used to be.

Good that it's helped you. The different effects on people is interesting.

Eh, I find that as my rage died down, so has my interest in the game. Emotional investment is proportional to enjoyment, even if it brings aggravation. If you always hated it, you'd stop playing. Instead I play for those highs, or at least I used to. I don't get mad anymore because I just don't care. The excitement and experimentation that MOBAs held in the days of original Dota 1, or beta LoL, have gone stale with intrenched metas and homogenized champions. A game that makes you emotional is, in my opinion, a good thing.

Lol has made me hate other people. And I used to be a very bright person. Congratz Riot

I'm a misanthrope to begin with, so LOL has done nothing but reinforce the idea that people, generally, are horrid creatures....... not always, just mostly. I think it's cute that some of you think people are grand, good for you. The rest of us, my misanthropic brethren, will continue disliking everyone we play with unless and until we run into one of the few good ones.

it has made you a better person online but in reality you have become passive and tolerant of assholes, when you encounter an aggressive person in real life you won't be able to just mute them or finish the game and never meet them again, you actually have to deal with the situation and if you just try to laugh it off they could fuck you up

You're not humble if you say you are -.- But I see what you mean. I feel the same

I was a racist before starting league, now into my 5th season of it I now hate all humans instead of just the blacks. But its made me a smarter person, smart enough not to put up with peoples bullshit.

League has made me more resilient to toxic people, lol

League has taught me a lot about the different types of people, the ones who only see your (sometimes absent) mistakes and the people who honestly want to help you.
