Champions that actually scare you both in game, and out of the game.

I'm talking about champions that scare you. And I don't mean champions that happen to be eerie or strangly unnerving, I mean champions that are straight up frightening in game. And, once again, I do not mean frightening in the sense of fighting a super fed Vayne who has 100% critical chance and lifesteal at the same time. I mean champions who you genuinely fear. For me, its Nautilus. Now, I love playing as Nautilus, he's my favorite champion in the entire game. That being said, he makes me afraid. And it isn't because he's big and hulking, or that he isn't really a person anymore, it isn't any of that. He embodies someone taken by the deepest darkest creatures of the ocean. And I am afraid of the ocean. Not so much the ocean itself, but what might be inside the ocean. Sharks, octopi, pretty much anything in the water that can kill me. That stems from a childhood experience of being sucked away by the riptide, and almost drowning. I was with my brother, and we had a small boogie board (yeah that part never makes people scared) to hold unto. All I could see in the frigid water was fins poking out and trying to grab me. I really felt like I was going to die, and to this day I still remember it in the back of my mind. The reason I wrote this as a whole, is that I just had a nightmare (at the time of writing) about my childhood experience. The ocean scares me, and I am afraid of what might happen to me if I try my luck out in it. Then it hit me why Nautilus unnerved me so much, because he represents what I was afraid of what might have happened to me. Becoming a soulless monstrosity that nobody remembers or cares about anymore. What champions scare the rest of you? Thanks for reading and basically listening to my ramblings. P.S. Before any of you say I'm just kind of a coward when it comes to videogames, yes I am. If you want to know why, it is because I have a very bad problem with not being able to distinguish between what is real and what is fake. Scary movies and horror games are two things I cannot stand to watch or play. And I have nyctophobia, or a fear of the dark. Yes, I'm a grown ass man and I can't sleep without some kind of light or sound in my room. You can call me whatever you please, but I can't really handle or stop these fears of mine.

Elise She's a giant spider!!! That is TERRIFYING.

Aatrox Just look at him. His sword is weird and kinda living and he looks like some kinda demon.

DrMundo When you think about it, he's pretty disturbing. Like, he was a person but got all drugged up cause science and goes around doing horrible experiments.

TahmKench He's some kind of weird water demon. That's pretty creepy.

Amumu now i know this sounds weird, but like how naut is for you amumu is what i fear. my greatest fear in the world is to be alone, i don't mean like im the only one home for a little i mean alone. im not sure if this stems from my large family or if its because my family is so important to me but seeing him so alone and sad all the time unnerves me.

Yorick similar to amumu he makes me feel something that shakes me to my core, the thought of being a wanderer like that

I know only a few of you have seen this or said anything, but I would like to thank you all for understanding and not ripping on me for my very childlike fears.

problems with distinguishing reality from fiction could be signs of schizophrenia. schizophrenia most commonly presents between late teens to mid twenties so if you fall under this classification you may want to consult a psychologist. even if you dont what you describe is not healthy for your mind and you should see someone anyway.

I've always been afraid of the black holes in the Super Mario Galaxy games. There are weirder things to be afraid of.

Braum has some creepy-ass dialogue. Really freaking creepy.

Darius in game, you rage when you get dunked. RL, it's a whole another ball game.

Just want to throw this out there, while I can't really relate to your particular situation since I don't really find any of the champions or their narratives compelling enough to make me think in depth about the terrifying nature of the reality, I have long been someone who has been willing to internalize fiction as though it were reality and think about it from a vicarious perspective rather than an observer perspective (experiencing it myself, but as the person/character involved rather than as legitimately my own body and mind). There is something noticeably enjoyable about being more heavily invested cognitively and emotionally than is necessary, but it can also be quite scary.

Your fear of the ocean is well-placed regardless of your personal experience because it provides the greatest source of fear on the planet for mankind's greatest fear: the unknown. From a pathological standpoint, Nautilus can be considered quite a disturbing champion indeed because you see the armor and know his "story" vaguely, but you don't know what exactly is underneath it all, and the ambiguity of his current situation (as a soulless monstrosity as you put it) can be unnerving. Personally I find that sort of thing attractive and desirable as a character trait rather than something I'm afraid of becoming myself, because my self-image and concept of positive and negative personality attributes is darker and more twisted than most.

As far as your personal flaws of irrational fears despite your age, I do have a few small tokens of advice, should you choose to think on them. When dealing with fear, you have two primary options: (1) as idealistic and sensational as it may sound, the only thing stronger in the human psyche than fear is hope. Being fearless isn't actually possible, but being able to overcome even your greatest fears with its direct check and counter, courage, and following this, the antithesis being hope, is far more important in life than losing all fear. (2) Your alternative is instead of defeating fear, and thinking of it as an antagonistic force within you, you think of it not as a weakness but as a strength, and you combat it with itself; the "fight fire with fire" approach. You become something that ought not to be trifled with, you embody fear, and you'll find that there is little that can actually even put you on the edge of feeling the sensation of being afraid. From an application standpoint, your choices vary from becoming a mentally strong individual that does easily waver in resolve despite the situation, to simply avoiding the thought patterns that have you arrive at the condition of feeling frozen and discouraged by your own mind.

Rengar Sometimes makes me jump, especially if he's ahead and I'm a squishy champion.
