We finally have a chance to turn the shards for champions that we own, which previously gave us nothing, into....

MORE NOTHING! :D I'm so glad Riot thought of this instead of actually being fair to the long-time players who own all of the champions and were getting screwed over by the chest system even when they bought chests.

Now, if we've got the Blue Essence for it or the Champion Shard, we can BM even harder by spamming the flashier emotes.

Next, maybe they'll give us a prettier flag for Honor Ribbons.
