I'm just curious as to how many people would like to see placement matches eliminated or reworked. I don't really feel they serve a purpose. And I'm getting tired of seeing new accounts place in high silver when they should be in bronze. At least place them in bronze 1 at the highest.

Dediguise1 votesBecause it creates a glut of players in silver ranging anywhere from recently level 30 to Diamond smurfs. A lot of bronze players get placed in bronze and then get better at the game. Then they get to silver and wind up with people who deserve to be in bronze again. It's a slap in the face to players who learned to hold their own. If there is going to be a glut of players anywhere it should be at the very bottom of the ladder. And it negatively reflects on climbing the ladder when you feel like you aren't improving or that you are improving, but that it makes no difference.

But the players that are in silver also deserve to be in silver. You thinking personally that they deserve to be in bronze doesn't change the fact that they have the exact same mmr as you. The only people that were placed in silver and truly dont deserve to be placed there are the smurfs who get placed in s1 with extremley high mmr. Example, my smurf placed s1 but i play against p2-p1 when i go into rank. Other than that the ones who are placed in silver and struggle deserve to be in silver just need to learn more but still play at a silver level. Basically bronze = players who dont know about %90 of the game. Silver are players who dont know %90 of the game but can perform better on a champ.

That means that he shouldn't be silver. If he were matched with silver players as opposed to his mmr he would out play them and rise to higher ranks. Plat players should not be being rewarded for playing with silver players either.
Saying that all players in silver deserve to be in silver is wrong. It is statistically invalid because again as you pointed out, new players can place as high as silver 1 and their mmr determines who they play against. You are also completely ignoring the existence of smurfs and of trolls. Yes there are players that deserve to be in silver. It may even be most of them. But this creates variables that completely undermine the concept of climbing the ranked ladder. Nor is 10 games adequate amount to determine an individuals skill in a team game. It is counter-intuitive to the entire process.
Look you either believe in ELO hell or you don't and debating that point is not conducive to a productive discussion. But ultimately your own points are countering your argument.

The ones that believe in Elo hell are the ones that need an excuse to why they are where they are. I went from b2-p5 in one season. Elo hell is a concept low Elo players have created, I use to be one of them, until you realize every Elo has the same amount of trolls, afks, etc..
That's off topic though. A new player has 10 games to determine their rank. If they constantly win against high silvers to gold then they deserve to be placed in high silver. I just don't see the logic of putting new players who can beat higher ranked opponents 70-80% of the time in a lower rank.
