Normals feel more toxic than ranked

So I got to gold V the other day and I decided I wanted to expand my champion pool before continuing to climb since I figure I probably don't have enough time to make it to plat. And in roughly 9 normal games I had at least 1 extremely toxic player in each game. The highlight was a "diamond" smurf adc that raged after I tp'd bot and killed the guy he was focusing on. Thing was I tp'd bot because he was 0/3 and then we took turret and dragon. He raged in all chat for the rest of the game and intentionally fed. In the end, despite his efforts to sabotage us, we won. The thing is we had a great game and the convo's with the enemy team were entertaining and fun for everyone(besides the adc).

So after dealing with all of that I jumped back into ranked... and after roughly the same number of games, I had only one toxic player.

Not sure if it's just me...

they say gold is the best elo bracket to play in for a number of reasons. off the top of my head (and i say "everyone" as a general measure of the majority):

  1. everyone is good enough to play at a decent mechanical level
  2. everyone understands map objectives and the value of team play
  3. everyone knows enough about the game to realise that they suck and have a lot to learn
  4. everyone is willing to work together to make it to plat

the elos brackets go something like this: ---bronze is just a cesspool of bad players of all kinds ---silver is a bunch of guys who think they're hot shit for not being bronze, but also really angry that they're not in gold+ ---gold is as detailed above ---plat is a bunch of guys who think they're hot shit for not being in gold, but also really angry that they're not in diamond ---diamond is a bunch of guys who think they're hot shit for not being in plat, but also really angry that they're not in master ---master is a bunch of guys who are really good at the game and grinding for points to get to challenger ---challenger is a bunch of guys who make money from people watching them play the game
