Mordekaiser rework is obvious proof that the meta is nothing more than a novice guideline based mainly on "old" trends and Fotm?

no this game sucks! And who cares about one champ? How about fixing this game broken Tier system or Updating champs that are never used?

I want to do a Morde / Garen bot lane - I think it'd be a party.

Uh... I don't think you understand that the meta is player created.... Riot has a love hate relationship with the meta. They didn't want to release teambuilder for a long time because it actually reinforced the concept of the meta. The Mord rework was a deliberate attempt to mess with that concept and to create champion diversity. More champions being played means more skins sold. It's a bold move and I think it's partially inspired by the success of gamechanging champions and abilities being so successful in the past year(Think yas's Windwall, or azir's turret making passive). These abilities challenged the foundations of the game and created unique interactions on a level not seen before. However the downside is that it raised the bar for what makes a champion unique and powerful. The Mord rework was an attempt to give him an identity that was unique as these two abilities BY challenging the meta.

The meta exists because it is mathematically the most efficient distribution of global resources( gold and xp), and champions are pidgeonholed into roles based on how dependent they are on these resources. Mid laners are all champions who powerspike based on level advantages. Top laners rely on a one item powerspike with significant level scaling on one or two of their abilities. Junglers have abilities that interact with monsters and have a myriad of strengths ans weaknesses depending on playstyle. ADC's are completely gold reliant with ineffective scaling from xp. They also require a support to keep them alive, who needs to function efficiently with very low income and shared experience.

All of these aspects are part of identifying where a champion will belong in the meta. Many champions find themselves in roles they were not designed for. Leona was supposed to be a top. Lulu was supposed to be strictly a support. The math is not outdated. The only way to make the meta completely outdated would be to completely alter the xp and gold distribution on summoners rift which would completely unbalance the game.
