People refusing to report

I think it is very true that a lot of the problem with bad behavior is that no one will report on it. One of the best examples I can give is when people AFK. I can't tell you how many times I have a teammate AFK and the enemy team refuses to report them. I suppose they figure that the person being gone gave them an advantage, so... Easy win for them?? I've also had people refuse to report intentional feeders. Why? Because that feeder allowed them an easier chance to win.

Sportsmanship is nonexistent since people care so much about winning, they don't want a game to be fun or challenging. I for one hate it when an opponent feeds or quits. It makes the game really easy and unenjoyable. If I wanted senselessly easy, I would stick with AI.

I can understand someone not reporting someone for verbal abuse if they never actually read what the person said. But, everyone present during the game, can tell if someone is missing or feeding...

It's not really necessary to report most afks. The Leaverbuster system is actually really good at detecting them automatically - even if they stay technically connected. They're even working on a new automated detection system specifically to catch feeders, so soon even that won't really need reports (though in both cases, I recommend continuing to report if you feel the need).

The thing is, though, the case-building algorithm of the Report System doesn't care about how many reports a player gets in a particular game. It builds those cases based on the number of reported games. As such, in terms of ensuring that a player is reviewed for Chat/Ranked Restrictions or bans, only one person needs to report them in a particular game.

If you report them, additional reports are entirely unnecessary - so asking for them isn't useful. It's often considered a form of harassment that can sometimes be worthy of sanctions itself - so asking for them can be harmful. Given that, why bother asking? Report what you see that you feel needs reported, and let others do the same.

This, this exactly. I get you're frustrated with a teammate. Report them yourself then. My report isn't going to do anything extra, and in most cases I don't even know if what you're saying is true.

In some cases I don't even think an individual deserves to be reported for an afk - I don't think it's EVER right to leave but I'm not going to report someone for leaving a game that's clearly lost and their teammates are trolling them. Even moreso if another teammate had left, I won't blame anyone for not wanting to play 4v5 or 3v5.

With feeding, again I won't report it unless it's really obvious. I mean, someone going 1-9-1 isn't someone intentionally feeding. Don't get me wrong, the player sucks. In A LOT of cases, players suck. Even that 17-6-4 Graves ADC who thinks he's carrying sucks (context: he fed Draven early and was behind and ignored in fights repeatedly while his burst allowed him to secure 2-3 kills each teamfight and hence the good KDA even though he's pretty much the sole reason Draven carried the game). It's so easy to see the mistakes others are making and SO HARD to see your own mistakes. So pointing at a bad KDA and saying "was behind in lane, why is he even trading" is not evidence of feeding. It's just him having a bad game. Unless you're walking to my turret without minions or yelling in all chat that you're trying to solo Baron at 20 minutes, you're probably not intentionally feeding.

Big pet peeve of mine: "OMG Report This Guy for X". Anytime I see that in /ALL my knee jerk reaction is 'I'll report you instead for harassing your team mate'.

AFK's are punished automatically and the report feature is a buffer to catch the AFK at the fountains, but not disconnected.

People are not automatically in trouble for anything. If no one reports someone for AFK, Riot won't know. I know this because back when I first started playing League, I only played bots. I had to AFK one game and then I sent an email to Riot apologizing, they said no one reported me for it (like I said, it was AI, no one cares there) so they didn't see any harm with it.

This is why people are allowed to get away with this crap. Because no one bothers to report them about it. Then, people like you report people for wanting to make League a better place; thus, the Tribunal gets swamped with stupid reports aimed at innocent people.

Most of us don't spend the entire game saying "OMG REPORT RIVEN SHE'S A COCK-SUCKER!" .... "REPORT RIVEN CUZ SHE'S FUGLY!!"

I dunno, I think when you get a little warning before the game is actually over and reports are possible, the system actually does detect you. Like he said its a buffer for those that just sit and do the fountain dance.

actually quite a few people do that. Someone makes one mistake and suddenly for one person they are worthless feeders that are beyond redemption. They gave first blood. Then they proceed to go 11/2, and still that one someone is on them for every little mistake. The second they go 11/3 "GG FEEDER REPORT!" You have to undestand that a lot of people abuse the system for different reasons.

Don't get me wrong, the whole 'reporting the person asking for reports' thing is internet white-nightery at its worst. Hypocritical, really. I don't know whats going on, so instead of reporting the person that someone asked to report i report that person. Idiocy.

Personally I always report AFK's or leavers even if they leave towards the end. As for verbal abuse/harassment though, yeah, I need to see it first.

I also agree with Arliden, if someone spams "Report X for Y" and I can't prove Y at all then I'll report the one speaking.

I RARELY report the enemy team players (I keep all-chat off btw).

a) If they went AFK, I don't know what was said to cause it. Maybe the player was being verbally abused. Doesn't seem fair to be reported for being verbally abused. b) Going 0-6 doesn't imply intentionally feeding.

I WILL report a complete no-show (lvl 1 at end of game). I WILL report someone walking into enemy turrets. But that's about it.

I understand how you may feel that way; but, I can't tell you how many games I would have lost if I left simply because someone was behaving like a child. Just yesterday, I was playing ADC and my support would get caught and die and then turn on me. "Why aren't you attacking!? Stupid noob!"

I was attacking, but nothing would have saved her. I didn't tell her this, nor did I leave the game to cry somewhere, I muted her. The rest of the game went just fine. I pretended she didn't speak English and it made the game much more enjoyable. We won fairly quickly, too.

Most of the time, people don't AFK for being talked badly to. They quit because 1. Oh shit, I have school/work/tennis practice in ten minutes! 2. I've died 8 times and my jungler won't gank! It's only 5 minutes in, but-... 3. Computer crash/internet failure/power outage/heart attack....

If people can't handle getting talked badly too, they must not live in the real world, and as such, should not be playing video games.

I will sometimes near the end of a game advise our opponents of the way an ally is acting politely and ask them to report them... but it's never just 'OMG REPORT' it'd be 'good game guys, would you kindly report as they've been harassing and insulting all game' and I usually only say it once right at the end of the game.

But typically I'll only report a player in any game of this genre if I either can confirm what happened(I saw it myself, or if someone politely and rationally explains what happened to me).

"Not reported" doesn't mean LeaverBuster didn't pick up the AFK-- and yes, the system does noticed AFK at the fountain and other ways of avoiding a DC without actually participating. Your bot game sounds like it was S1, before AFK's were reliably detected.

To be honest, there is no need to ask for reports. The report system doesn't actually count total reports, it counts games in which at least one report was made. It's to protect players from mob mentality reports and to make sure solo players have a voice if they run into a trolling premade group.
