I have some misgivings about hextech crafting

I actually like the system, and I'm not the sort of person who usually spends money on games, so getting a skin every now and again without having to pay up sounds nice. But i'm worried that either it's going to be virtually impossible to get skins, or too easy and Riot will remove it after thinking that it will ruin their financial system, which will cause a lot of backlash.

Thoughts?
