Riot actually wants me to disable my firewall and antivirus to have a better connection to this game

Despite some of the other advice actually being valid and good, this is atrocious to put on a support ticket.

In no way does having a Firewall or Antivirus program give you a worse connection if it's only blocking actual untrustworthy programs etc, and the fact that you want me to disable it is wrong for a few reasons.

A: It does not help with the problem B: You know this, and want me to disable it anyway C: All it does is harm me

Just use Avast Free. Unless you're into REALLY kinky shit, then it should be good enough to protect your computer.

If you ARE into really kinky shit, then add Malwarebytes or the Iobit programs to protect your computer.

There are both antivirus and firewalls that do indeed block certain types of traffic. The simple solution is to try and turn them off to see if they are interfering or not. If nothing changes, then clearly they aren't the issue. If that fixes the issue, then congrats! you can make the necessary modifications. On some programs, altering exceptions can be a pain in the ass, especially when the programs block things based off of types of traffic. Hence why they will just ask you to turn it off and test before asking the customer to go through the potential pain in the ass to see if it worked.

This is standard practice for every online service ever, not just League. I don't see the issue here.

The advice about the firewall is because some firewall rules can interfere with the free-flow of data necessary for gaming. And some antiviruses have a poor reputation for the same.
