I hope you understand, Riot
If one of my teammates doesn't even get into game, another teammate doesn't take his place (if needed), and we are losing, please don't give me a:
Due to your absence in this game we are giving you a LeaverBuster.
When I pretty much played the game. True, for the last 7 minutes, I stood and waited for surrender and no one said anything or cared while the enemy team also didn't care. There have been matches where I come in late due to faults in your system and now of all times when I stand there because we are 2 to 12 that I am in a LeaverBuster. I even would R when it was active to let others gain back health since they were just going to feed and get it over with until the 20 mark.
In short, your system is messed up and needs to be changed.
Don't want unfair punishments when you guys can't even fix the stupid game to not cause such stupidity. Not saying, "Oh, this guy cannot connect, lets push the game anyway. No need for an earlier surrender, the team wouldn't need it anyway." Definitely not putting in a button to disconnect; in the lobby or the load screen. It would be aggravating but it would stop half the AFKs that usually happen. Also, why put a "quit" button in the game if you are just going to punish users? Why is it, the game knows I've disconnected but doesn't know I could not connect? Why does it start the countdown for LeaverBuster before the start of the game? Don't you think it would be better to start it once the game has actually begun? And why is it, 2 and a half minutes in that I receive a notice (sometimes) of I've been detected by LeaverBuster? I'm reconnecting 2 and a half minutes in. It's the start of the game. Nothings happened yet.
Punishing people for doing wrong deeds is just, its understandable. But this is a MMO, the rules must be changed slightly for a team game. Your punishments towards one individual do not (or should I say, will not) help the 4 or so teammates that had a bad game. Riot is quick to point its finger and give a harsh punishment, but there's no real justice in it when the 4 or so random people get nothing out of it but a simple hope/thought that the guy got punished.
Honestly, Riot is not going to stop people from being cruel. Cruelty is just something people need to understand will not stop even with strict punishments. When Riot gave out rewards for those who were nice, everyone was happy. When I didn't get one of the icons, I wanted to try harder not to be a jerk so I could get one next time.
Though it is cheap and sounds stupid, majority would rather a gift than a punishment.
TL;DR
Punishments don't have to be more strict. Giving prizes make people want to act better.
