I recently hit Gold playing Support Solo

Now usually a lot of people at Bronze/Silver would tell you not to play support or play an AP carry support so you can carry. Supports don't generally carry in the traditional sense of "I'm going to build lots of damage and kill stuff" but they're actually quite vital to team play.

This season I managed to climb from Bronze III to Gold V playing solo support for about 80% of my games did I get a little help? Sure but to be honest I didnt really win much from groups. But climbing from Bronze to Gold by yourself isn't really impossible it just requires a large amount of patience if anything.

So for any of you solo support in Bronze / Silver are stuck don't worry If you continue to play well you'll eventually climb, If I can do it so can you.

Ya support is the best role to carry yourself to higher elo > faster que times > play more games = higher elo. Simple equation.

I see you take locket often. I'd ask why not banner? I've found banner tends to lead to more victories than portal or other options.

As a support main, I'd love to get some tips/tricks from you.

I think its because Locket provides much more defensive stats during a teamfight. pushin lane with banner is nice but i would prefer zz'rot for pushing lanes anyways. unless you are planning on split pushing with supp i would go for locket 9/10 times

It's a lot more stealthy than portal, and it absorbs multiple hits from the tower assuming you use the siege minion as the promoted one.

It also seems to me to give me a lot more gold/CS beca use every recall I through it on a siege minion in the ignored lane and then go where the crowd is. I personally think it does wonders for lane control with little to no effort.

Pretty much the defensive stats and the shield as my personal play style has always been peeling.

I could understand the banner choice but I would usually go banner if side wave control are lacking which for the most part generally isn't the case.

As for Tips and Tricks idk what I can give you unless you have any specific questions?

Being a support main was rough for me in bronze so i switched to mid/top and have now exited bronze. I think i could have done it being supp/mid but i didnt have the patience and cant deal with certain random adc's

I just made it to Plat with 91.5% games as Nami (99.4% as Support), so I can personally attest to the ability to climb as Support!

However! I still don't recommend it for climbing efficiently. A Support style that deals out tons of early damage can start a snowball easier for your team and make you a force to be reckoned with by yourself, so that is probably better than traditional supporting in low elo.

I did for some point try the whole damage support thing like Annie and Brand but loss a lot idk if I just sucked with it or not really my thing. So I just eventually went back to those traditional supports.

Brand and Annie are exactly the types I mean :3 You gotta beat the enemy to a pulp in lane, make them afraid to even CS (but you gotta ward so the over-extension doesn't get you ganked). It's a strategy reliant on you being vastly superior to the opponent and taking advantage of their fear.

I placed Silver 2 this season (first season for placements actually) maining support. Climbed to Silver 1... now that I won my placements into Silver 1 I plan to get to gold, but am timid atm... fear of losing a few games :P

Can't win if you don't play! Take your time off and review your builds by comparing it to what high elo players recommend, and meditate on the mistakes you've made so that you can avoid them next time :3

Can't see what your typical play is like from that alt, but my usual advice is to limit your champion pool so you can master them, ward a lot, and make sure your builds and spells/runes/masteries are efficiently chosen.

Oh yeah, I am maining Morgana+Thresh at the moment. Anything outside that I take in normals. I typically use champion.gg as an example for runes / masteries / builds. My fear comes out of not wanting to drop to S2 and do those promotionals again. In the end, I'm being overly timid and I'll probably be fine. Thanks for the advice! Flash + Thresh Hook into a minion is my favorite move btw. Really freaks them out ;)
