Best ranked experience so far

Team starts dragon. I say "no smite 30". Enemy team gathers on the other side of dragon pit. Dragon is at 1200 health and I say "smite 5" and my team stopped attacking.

HOLY SHIT THEY KNEW EXACTLY WHAT NEEDED TO BE DONE. I attack dragon when smite comes up and we are able to smite secure it as the enemy jungle flashed in to try to steal. Had my team ignored my smite cooldown we would have lost dragon and probably the following teamfight.

It felt so good to know I had a team that was smart enough to know what to do in that situation. I have never had a team listen when I say smite is down. Hell, most the time the team complains that I didn't smite after I say "no smite".

To my teammates in this match, thank you for a great experience.

Yeah that's always fantastic. So I'll one-up it (from the game that got me to diamond no less):

Enemy team doing dragon, which would be our 5th dragon. As RekSai I tunnel behind it and just kinda sit there, they immediately stop doing dragon, but don't go on me either. Obviously they weren't sure what to commit to, since I was full tank (due to our tankless team comp) and they were worried I could smite drag. So we sit like that for about 5 seconds and then my team comes in, engages in the confusion, and we end up acing them and taking dragon.

tldr making people panic during a dragon attempt can be hilarious.

Ranked 5s with good teammates is probably my best experience; I had a plat (now diamond) midlaner on my team, where everyone else (myself included) was silver/gold, so we got matched against some pretty good players, got to learn a lot from playing them. I was playing ADC, which admittedly isn't my best or favorite role, but having teammates that you're familiar with, know how they play and therefore can play around them better, and also rally together as a team is really a lot of fun. Feeling like you can actually rely on your teammates and play specifically your role (for me it was ADC, so staying safe and providing DPS) instead of trying to do everything to carry your solo-q team is a really great experience.

This is going to sound random, but this is an example of why it's sad that snowbally champions that function as balls of stats when even slightly ahead make the ranked experience miserable for many players.

Wait, what?

There are plenty of players in Bronze/Silver who treat this as a strategy game and understand the importance of objectives and teamwork. But there are also plenty of players who just faceroll and either feed or get fed. The second strategy crowds out the impact of the first strategy. This is why solo queue is so frustrating. Teamwork is all well and good until you run into the 3 kill Katarina at the first dragon fight.

There are plenty of champions who see essentially zero play in serious, competitive play but are ridiculously oppressive when even slightly ahead in solo queue. Why Riot is okay with these champions making ranked solo queue in Bronze/Silver play completely differently than competitive play is beyond me.
