I am so sick of seeing 'kys' in games.

I am really fucking tired of seeing this as frequently as I do. Why? Not because it hurts my feelings (it doesn't). Not because it might make me do it (it won't). I am sick of it because it happens to often that it is as if Riot doesn't punish these people. For those of you that somehow don't know what 'kys' means it is an acronym for "Kill YourSelf". One would think Riot would have a zero tolerance policy for this and it would result in an instant ban. Hell an instant punishment of any kind but it happens so often that I can't imagine Riot does a damn thing about it.

This is a goddamn video game. How fucked up is your brain to think it is okay to tell someone to kill themselves over a game.

From your point - sure. Telling someone to go kill themselves is just wrong and should get punished fast.

On the other hand - if you can't take some random internet BS then go offline. Seriously. I was called names, wished ill and so on over the internet so many times that if I ever let that go under my skin I would kill myself 15 years ago. Get a grip on yourself and grow a pair. Alongside some thick skin, you can't survive the internet without it.

As I already said, it doesn't hurt my feelings or bother me. What bothers me is how seemingly lax Riot is on punishing this. I am not worried about me when someone says kys. I have a couple friends that are incredibly sensitive. Like... stupidly sensitive. From my experiences a large number of people are like them. I can see someone like them being told to kys in game and it having a real affect on them and Riot should instant ban those fuckers but in my experience they don't. That is my issue with the whole thing.

Maybe this is the thing. I personally can't see how this can affect someone. Mabye it is the way people do raise their kids around here, but from the very young age I remember conversations with my mom after I did something stupid because some prankster told me to:

"why do you do that stupid thing?" "he told me to" or "he did it too" "well, if he jumps from the building, would you jump as well?"

Then I got told that no matter what people do or say, if it is stupid, I should not do it.

So no matter how many ppl tell me something stupid like KYS, I am not going to do it. My mom taught me well :-)

But I do agree that this should be recognizable by robot and punished with chat ban immediately. I agree this behaviour should not be tolerated. On the other hand, as I said before many many times:

1 - there are thousands of new reports every day, and there is only few people dealing with this and evenr robot needs some time to process every case. And with hundred thousands of toxic beasts around it seems like RIot is not punishing them.

2 - threads like this are so common I am getting tired of them. Brush it off, mute & report, and move on. That's my motto. :-)

But for consistency's sake, if you're going to issue punishments for any sever verbal abuse/harassment, surely that should include the worst thing you can say to someone.

No wrongdoing ever got stopped by saying "welp, the world's a nasty place so just suck it up". Those who are in the right shouldn't be forced to change for those who aren't.

Sure. KYS should be detected by a robot and issue a chat ban immediately.

On the other hand - this is internet. You get KYS wish > you mute the dude, report him after the game, then forget this even happened. Why keep that ugly thought in your head? I don't care about cancer wishers and such tards at all. I just laugh at them, mute them and ignore them.

I don't make boards thread about them because I have that thick skin and no amount of "i fckd your mom for 5€" can hurt me. Seriously. Maybe it's an age thing, but lately I am getting tired of this childish kinds of posts like "that kid told me I am ugly and took my toy car, mooooom slap him!".

Well, deal with it. You have Mute button, you have report button - so be a big boy, get over such losers, reprot them to make sure sooner or later community can get rid of such (since we don't want toxic douches around, do we?) and continue with your life.

At least that's my philosophy :-)

I have heard that quite a few times yet when I come across players that say this I screenshot it and check their accounts later and of the several I have reported, with both support tickets with screenshots and ingame reports, only one has no recent game activity. This along with how frequently I see it makes me think reporting is a waste of time.

Think of it like this:

This is the most popular game in the world. Millions of ppl playing it every day. Hundred thousands of them are toxic trolls.

But yet only ten thousands of them gets reported (ppl are too lazy to report then are wondering why nobody is punished) and there is about a dozen Rioters who are dealing with this. So while automatic system can deal with some of the toxicity, some cases has to be reviewed by a human being. If there is about 20 ppl (I have no idea about the exact number but I guess not more than 20 ppl are doing this) dealing with reports and there is 10k+ reports every day.... well you do the math how fast some players may get punished.

But that goes more for cheating, feeding and griefing. KYS should be detected by robot and punished immediately. I agree with that.

Since people on the internet change how words work. Someone thought "yourself" was "your self" and it stuck because people are too dumb to know better.
