Why isn't Master Tier higher then Challenger Tier?
Isn't you being in Master Tier mean you've "Mastered" the game, and challenger seems like your "challenging" to become the Master.
Would make a lot more sense name wise.

Master means you've mastered the game. Yes. Challenger means you are challenging the best at this game.
those in master tier indeed have essentially mastered the game
but challenger makes more sense in ranked 5s, since a team in challenger is ostensibly challenging other CS teams for a chance to be in the LCS
Challenger was around first. Challenger meant you were at a position where you were basically e-sports worthy, you were a "challenger" so to speak in a new league of players.
Diamond 5-2 was diamond back then. Diamond 1 was basically what masters is now.
But they wanted the skill difference between Diamond 5-2 and diamond 1 to be more clear, so masters was made to show the "masters" of the game. And challenger is the "masters" who are good enough to challenge the world.
in reality though who cares.
